Man in Space

All you have to do is listen to the way a man sometimes talks to his wife at a table of people and notice how intent he is on making his point even though her lower lip is beginning to quiver,

and you will know why the women in science fiction movies who inhabit a planet of their own are not pictured making a salad or reading a magazine when the men from earth arrive in their rocket,

why they are always standing in a semicircle with their arms folded, their bare legs set apart, their breasts protected by hard metal disks.

This is easily one of my favorite comic moments of all time.

After his wife and brother-in-law (who really was more like his own son) have been brutally murdered, Black Adam went on this terrifying rampage that even the entire JSA couldn’t stop, it was so bad that Shazam/Billy tried begging the Egyptian Gods to take Black Adam’s powers away from him, which they refused, so instead he made a deal with them to change the word “SHAZAM!” that he and Black Adam use to transform into a new secret word that only Billy knows.

That way Black Adam gets to keep his powers, but he simply wouldn’t be able to access them, since he doesn’t know what word he needs to shout and how could he? It can literally be any word in existence?!?

So imagine his shock, when one day the powerful and ancient ruler of Khandaq, decided to sit at a random dinner (after a long hard journey across the world, which would have been a lot more easier on him if he had his powers) and basically went “say, the kid next to me is sure drinking a delicious-looking smoothie, can I please have one of those....ah....chocolate egg creams?” then suddenly transformed back to his immortal body for the fist time in forever?
