Oh Condor – Emergency Psychic (Blind Rage)

It's been about 8 years since Oh Condor has released anything, or at least that's what I'm seeing anyway. Obviously a lot changes over a time period like that, and Emergency Psychic seems to be a product of such. Ultimately it's a record that finds itself attached to some very 90's indie/college roots, but dashes in some of that cleaner math/emo Cap'n Jazz revival angle that really got people going towards the end of the 00's and into partially the next decade before tapering off again. Weird how shit works like that. Are we still riding out the post-punk wave? Either Oh Condor have dismissed that one completely or just haven't arrived to it yet apparently. Got to respect that though, Oh Condor have eschewed most anything here that people would be gravitating towards right now. However, if you're like me and still have a few button up flannel long-sleeves hanging in your closet (who am I kidding...they aren't hanging), then there is likely something to like or appreciate in some way on this LP. At the very least, the bygone eras of indie will always have its audience and bands like Oh Condor are happy to fill some of that void. Oh Condor – Long and Gone (stream) BUY IT!

i’ll be seeing these fellas live at Blind Bob’s in Dayton, Ohio, along with the bands Dear Fawn and Oh Condor ( <---- !!! ) this Friday, 03/13/15.  my lucky day, i guess. Swearing At Motorists  “All Jacked Up” - LIve in Vienna “...i’m all jacked up and i’m driving’ too fast, and i can’t seem, can’t seem to think past the past...”

If you're a fan of 90s indie rock like Les Savy Fav, Swervedriver, Pavement, and Archers of Loaf, Oh Condor can give you both a nostalgic high and a rejuvenated buzz. Although Oh Condor’s musical roots can be traced to 90s indie rock, their production is a little too slick for lo-fi, too ambitious for slacker rock, and too fun for shoegazing.

The quartet’s Reflector EP showcases a scrappy and ambitious Dayton, Ohio-based band committed to chasing down moments of pop and rock brilliance and setting them to tape. And though the EP is short, any of the cuts in this collection of indie rock songs is capable of holding their own with Archers of Loaf’s “Wrong,” Pavement’s “Cut Your Hair,” and Superchunk’s “Hello Hawk.” None of this is tremendously surprising considering the strength of the band’s formidable back catalog of self-released albums and EPs.

i just realized, i don't think i ever posted this song "Shoot Shoot" by the band Oh Condor.  you should listen to this song.  you should.  i think perhaps, at the very least kidradicalreigns and/or streetaloha might enjoy it.  as well as everybody else.

TONIGHT: FREE GARDEN BOWL! Gangi w/ Beekeepers and Oh Condor 9 PM International press outlets have identified Gangi as “serving up surprises—and tasty ones, at that—in dainty and pop-loving form, gourmet pieces that snap and crackle, there’s a sort of cheerful jingle to it.” With their music “combining 60’s and 70’s garage and psychedelic rock, with the sampling culture and beat heavy elements of electronic genres, and the lyrical style and sensibility of American folk music”, Gangi produces raucously delicious beats meddled with droney guitars, haunting vocals, resulting in a layered aesthetic.
