is it just me or it's absolutely fkcing precious and painful when the villain actually knows the hero's true identity???? And the hero doesn't know theirs????? Picture this :

villain's off-duty with all the villainy stuff. they're at the grocery or something idk and they happen to stumble upon hero, in their civilian clothes, without blood and sweat clinging into their skin like they usually do whenever they're in battle. villain watches as hero walks along the aisle with their friends, being all smiley and and talkative and goofy which is the exact opposite when they're on the battlefield. like imagine the curiosity building up inside villain as they stare at hero's bare face and wondering how much this side of them villain hasn't seen and that this is all that they're allowed to see because

1. hero had no idea who they are and if they found out, things will be a lot more complicated

2. hero takes their hero job seriously and is not on good terms with villain and

3. even if villain wanted to get close to hero (to satisfy their curiosity so it will go away) using their civilian identity (if that makes sense) they can't think of a way how.

so what does villain do? nothing. they pine and pine and hope they get to see hero on one of the local shops they usually go to, wishes to pass them by on the streets of the city and would occasionally pray for such small interactions to happen since they don't want to change how things work because that would only put hero in a state of dilemma in the long run.

villain doesn't want to pry into hero's personal schedule to know their whereabouts so they could see them. villain refuse to follow their personal accounts on social media. villain can't act different during their battles either since hero would definitely feel something is off.

there's just something about the fact that villain is aware (but doesn't want to admit) that they're dying to keep hero close and remove their mask to reveal a human with flaws and quirks and dreams and fears and would be eager to learn them all and accept them as their own. the sacrifices and efforts villain has ever done to support hero in the shadows while keeping everything to themselves because it's illogical, wrong in a way that it could cause trouble for hero (which villain do not want).

in the end, villain accepts this is as far as they can go. and anywhere beyond what they can reach, wasn't theirs to be touched in the first place.
