hi! um i just wanted to ask about your opinion on a possible cass being found earlier by batman au? specifically right after she runs away, so age 8 or so. if its not a bother hah i just like hearing your opinions on her :)

NOT A BOTHER AT ALL!!! This is actually really interesting!!! I feel like in some ways Cass benefited from being able to wander alone for a while, taking in the world on her own terms and coming to grips with what she did. An 8yo Cass fresh from the kill would be severely traumatised and may even be unable to imagine redemption. On the flip side maybe Bruce and co finding her earlier might be able to lessen some of her self-hatred, but I really don't think so. I think it would be harder for Cass to adopt the bat symbol when her kill was so recent. (Also Batgirl wouldn't be open since Babs is still Batgirl if I have the timeline right? Interesting to think of Cass without that legacy mantle)

I also think an 8 year old Cass running directly away from David's hugs would be more likely to rebuff Bruce's attempts at getting close to her. In canon she has around a decade of being alone, and I think Bruce and the Batfam are a welcome change for her after that. BUT in a Cass-is-found-earlier AU she literally has just run away from her dad, this White man she loved with her whole heart who betrayed her (in a way) utterly; I don't know if she'd be as willing to fold herself with another father-like figure, even if he clearly doesn't kill. In this case she might actually be more comfortable with Babs at first (a reversal of canon, where Cass vibed more with Bruce at first). Babs might also be a bit more accommodating for Cass' disability since she's just a child, which might ease some of the tension in their initial meeting.

Cass being found earlier could be a really great way of rewriting her language disability too. Since the meta thing probably wouldn't happen, this AU could be a great way to explore other paths to her learning language! And also since this Cass is even less familiar with society and the world as canon!Cass was, there could be some fun hijinks in there. I think though Shiva is really necessary to Cass getting over her death wish, so either Cass would just have to live with that death wish for a while (which to be fair she does do in canon), or Shiva would have to fight and kill and eight year old 😭😭😭.

Those are just some like off the cuff thoughts!! Interested to hear other people's takes on it :))). Ty for the ask this was so interesting!!

my current opinion on aegon blackfyre is that dany will convince herself he is a blackfyre pretender and jon will remain convinced he actually is rhaegar’s son and we will never know the truth, it will stay completely vague with circumstantial evidence on both sides to back up both jon and dany’s feelings about it and that is the most narratively satisfying route for aegon as a character.
