'I think I'm falling for you' |because top feels! B-)|
Put ‘I think I’m falling for you’ to see how my muse reacts
—— After a day of spending a day in the world of the living (all because of her skillful way of making him say things he wouldn’t normally say) he did not know at what time he had started to enjoy himself. It was a bit perplexing to the noble. He wasn’t one to ‘enjoy’ anything much less when in presence of Yoruichi.
His reasoning were without support. Of course at one time, he did dislike her presence, to the length of looking for ways to avoid her. Yet that stretch of more than a century had shifted the noble’s perspective of her as well as of much of the world around him. It was all seen in a simple way, taking his aristocracy and status very seriously.
There hadn’t been someone to force him into glancing at the other way, where relaxation and enjoyment were a focus point. Not until now that she had once again returned. It had taken time to once again allow more than a formal greeting between the two. Stubbornness on his side, he had to concede.
He could almost laugh as he looked at everything in retrospection. The only one who could make him shift from his stoic demeanor was the woman who had talked him into spending a day in the world of the living. He couldn’t place a word on what it was that kept him here, or to even return to see her again, or have her not so subtle surprise visits when she roamed the Soul Society.
They had fallen into comfortable silence, each one enjoying their cone of ice-cream that they had purchased a block away from the park. It didn’t take long before he could hear Yoruichi’s voice travel toward him. His brain making sense of the frequency of her melodious voice.
She thinks she’s.. falling for him?
His mind froze, his steely hues meeting vibrant amber hues. His mind riled at it at first, she couldn’t be serious could she? Meeting that gaze, he searched for that glint of mischievousness she always held, but could find none. He could only begin to get lost in the many hues that made her eyes, those eyes that spoke secrets to him; ones he didn’t notice until now.
It couldn’t be possible he told himself, but he wanted it to be true. That thought halted him harshly. When did he start to want her to view him as more than just an arrogant child of nobility? When did his being wish to be in proximity of the person he had said he didn’t wish to see her ever in his life when he was a youth.
He blinked, coming back from his revere after getting helplessly lost in those eyes that sometimes resembled a cat’s unblinking gaze, which was what it looked like at the moment. His mind swiftly provided him with why that was: She was waiting for an answer. The first thought that came to his mind was to deny a reciprocation of such affections.
Byakuya had indeed noticed subtle signs within himself that he felt something toward the Shihoin scion. She made her way into his mind at the most inopportune of times. Find himself wondering what she was doing on nights where sleep eluded him. Even thoughts of when she would visit unexpectedly. He would chastise himself of course; thoughts that should not exist, that kept his mind in constant bewilderment as to why she was even on his mind —or that subtle but constant hurt in his chest when she was to leave or when he turned to leave himself.
He hadn’t placed a word to it, nor would he had wanted because he would have told himself it was impossible. That she wouldn’t consider to even glance in his direction, yet he wanted that. Now he was confident to admit to such a thing. Her words made him realize that even he was falling for her. It had just been his stubborn nature that had blinded him to such thoughts of attraction especially to someone who was his thorough opposite.
It was false, he would have said if he was told before, but now it seemed it held every ounce of truth as he kept his gaze upon hers. Making him want to believe they had more things that made them opposite, discover those of her and respectively have her discover that in him as well.
His voice held a hint of open surprise, hearing words he thought he would never say. Her sudden confession made made him realize,
“I may have already fallen for you, Yoruchi.”
