Long time no PJO…
growing up queer in what I call the "love is love era" kinda fucked me up. why? bc this is what i heard and internalized:
why is it ok to be queer gay? well bc love is love. (arospec? trans? intersex? what are those? we're talking about falling in love <3 that's what's important.)
the goal of activism? why gay marriage of course! (you want to be safe as a trans person? we're talking about love here. your time will come... eventually.)
we don't need to talk about queer sex. that freaks out the allies. we need to show them that we fall in love like normal people. (you want queer sex and bodies to normalized? well shut up about it bc the allies will think we're sex-crazed pervs.)
basically: if your queerness wasn't centered in sexless, cisgender, "normal" romantic love, you could go fuck yourself.
and as someone who turned out to be a transgender aromantic homosexual, I was shunned when I needed support the most.
Ok but that job post once again reminded me about the interaction i had last week when i was talking to job recruiter through messenger and they ask me if had telegram so they can share more information there. And it made me like bit insane but i was like 'i don't but i can make one' in the most polite way possible and to this day i didn't get a reply and I probably won't.
Thinking about the muppets a lot and how Disney can’t fucking use them correctly especially with the new electric mayhem show like the muppets are a theater troupe each one of the Jim Henson era movies is them putting on a play or a movie and then somewhere along the line (muppets in space) it became “the muppets play themselves” which doesn’t work as well it just doesn’t and it like kills me that the people who understand this because they created the muppet are barred from interacting with and playing the characters that they created and made popular and are now a shell of what they used to be because instead of Disney going “let’s do a muppets show reboot where it’s a sketch show like the original” they went “let’s make a fucking 30 rock rip off” like not even hating on the new muppeteers but Frank Oz deserves to do whatever he wants with the muppets at all times he IS miss piggy he IS fozzy and honestly Disney will never let them be the muppets because they hate the muppets and art and happiness
i dont have proper language for this besides “i dont fucking understand” but i swear i cant hear people talking to me at all. and with masks its even more challenging because i used to rely so heavily on reading lips guhhh its tough in a service job where you get two (2) chances to say “say again?” before customers start to get mad
(( It annoys me when people bring up how "gender neutral" Animal Crossing is becoming...
If it was truly gender neutral they wouldn't fucking bring up that the article was made for a specific gender...THEY WOULD JUST LET YOU BUY THE ITEM AND ROCK IT LIKE THE BADASS MAYOR YOU ARE! ))
Facebook People Rant
I hate hate hate hate when people put up how unhappy they are with their lot in life on facebook.
There is a girl who will remain nameless in the year below my who is very wealthy, has a lot of friends and is quite pretty too.
Her most recent status? Copied and Pasted my friends:
i hounstly hate my life somtimes!!
Wow, my heart really bleeds for you. Are you starving to death or starving yourself to death? Are you scared to wake up every morning because a parent might beat you that night? Are you so depressed you can barely handle a simple conversation with someone? Or maybe your sister has gotten terminal cancer?
I don't think so.
So sit down, shut the fuck up and come back to me when you have real problems.
i am a nerd and am watching THIS ENTIRE THING. it's a debate exploring the issue of islam as a religion of peace and it is almost 2 hours long....but it's just soooo interesting. i actually really like both sides of the panel for the most part. however, i think that those arguing for the motion are hopelessly naive (mostly the female debator. not so much the british guy. he's been around the block a few times). anyways, they keep arguing about the need for contextualization of the koran, hadiths, etc, when that is exactly the problem, as ayaan and douglas (arguing against the motion) pointed out. islamic fundamentalists, who are much more mainstream in the middle east than the moderate muslims on the panel would have their audience believe, do not debate the multiple interpretations of the koran. they are not allowed to, because of the tradition of submission which is inherent in islam---it's in the name for goodness' sake. this is the precise reason this debate is even necessary, because so many of islam's followers refuse to deviate from the religion's 7th century norms. and these norms are nasty.
as i think ayaan said, it would be wonderful if zeba and maajid represented the muslim community. they seem like really nice, caring, tolerant people. unfortunately that is not the case, or else majority-muslim countries would not have the reprehensible human rights records that they do.
also, i lol'd/cried when zeba cited iran as having "no gender gap in education." wonderful. so both girls and boys are equally brainwashed. is she seriously trying to argue that iran is doing just fine in the gender equality department? shameful.
