As #oktoberfest celebrations are coming to an end all over the world (and I got so busy with cons I didn’t get to go to any) I am posting my #tbt #throwbackthursday #tbthursday of #oktoberfest2016 in commemoration if #oktoberfest2017 I hope everyone is having a blast this year. In many of my ethnic heritage backgrounds (maybe as #wonderwoman would be I have many many cultural and nationality backgrounds in my family Tree, one of which is #german ) German, like My Mexican heritage (like the @reallyndacarter ) was one that I was also raised to celebrate so I give you my #germanwonderwoman Or #wunderfrau #wunderfräulein ... “The Oktoberfest tradition started in 1810 to celebrate the October 12th marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to the Saxon-Hildburghausen Princess Therese. The citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities which were held over five days on the fields in front of the city gates. The main event of the original Oktoberfest was a horse race. Anniversary celebrations were held annually thereafter that eventually became larger and more elaborate.” ... We started the day by heading to the traditional Oktoberfest parade where we were treated to amazing costumes, stunning horses, and a great many marching bands. Despite the drizzle, everyone was in a fantastic mood. I am very glad we came out to see this! I took hundreds of photos which I have to sift through.
