I think the sorting hat became lazy over the years.

We've already heard, that every Weasley ever has been sorted into Gryffindor. I think he finally gave up and thought, hey the first 50 were Gryffindor so why not the rest!

Because if you think about it, Fred and George would've been perfect in Slytherin.

And when Ron was sorted the sorting hat said "Ah Weasley! I know exactly what to do with you! Gryffindor!" He didn't even think it through!

And with Draco Malfoy, whose family has always been sorted in Slytherin, he didn't think about it either.

I think the hat gets lazy with families that were mostly sorted into one house.
