I did something bad today.

You know how sometimes when ur wearing a name tag, have a walkie on and a folding cart next to you as you’re folding a table and a customer still has the nerve to ask if you work there?And you just think to yourself, “no I don’t work here im just folding these shirts for fun.” Well, that’s exactly what happened today and let me tell you, I was so tired I SAID IT OUT LOUD TO THESE TWO WHITE LADIES. WITH ALL THE SASS TOO. I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA GET FIRED THEY DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO THEY THOUGHT I WAS REALLY A CUSTOMER FOLDING SHIRTS.

No, I can't "just".

"Like, can't you just let it slide? I don't understand why it's such an issue. I've never had this problem before at *other* locations." No lady, I can't "just" exchange more than $100 worth of merchandise for you that you claim you lost the receipt for months ago and give you "your" cash back for it. I don't care if they're the same thing, if you don't have a receipt or credit card used at the time of sale there's nothing we can do but offer you a merchandise credit by mail. And if you've "never had this issue before" who the hell was letting you do it all this time?

Get ready dollar flip flop day is near.

Once a year Old Navy has its dollar flip flop day, this year it is this sat (6/20).

I have had my worst customer experiences on Dollar flip flop day. I have dealt with the worst people. I have been called the worst names AND been given the grossest forms of payment (saliva covered fingers with chip residue and boob sweat anyone?) 

It is black Friday busy, we sell out fast, hear nothing but complaints all day, the store gets trashed and we make NO money because all we are selling are dollar fricking flip flops. 

There is a limit, no you can’t get back in line, no there aren’t any more in the back, no rain checks, no your kid can’t use your credit card, no i cant cover the .51 cents in tax you overlooked, no there isn’t a shorter line, no I can’t hold them for you, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BE NICE TO THE WORKERS.

I really do not think managers, specifically those in the retail industry, do not understand that their employees' lives do not revolve around working. Some people actually need time off for themselves because they suffer with certain issues. Aka me with my anxiety. I have about 1 or 2 mental breakdowns a week from working, and it's not even that difficult of a job

Preorder.

"So can I like, preorder the flip flops now so I get them for $1 on Flip Flop Day? I need 300 pairs, here I wrote down the sizes and colors." "Unfortunately we can't preorder inventory or place a bulk order like that--" "So what you're saying is I have to pick out 300 pairs for my wedding BY MYSELF on the day of, like anyone else? And wait IN LINE too?" "Yes."

So this happened...

Working last night two of my coworkers were approached by a customer. One of my coworkers was a guy who has worked for the company for more than 10 years, the other is a girl that has only been with us for 6 months. 

Customer: “Do you work here?” 

Both employees: “Yes, how can we help you?”

Customer: Turns to the guy “oh you wont know, Ill have to ask her” asks the female employee the question, and she doesn't know the answer.

Female: turns to male employee for guidance on how to answer

Male: “Oh don’t ask me I don’t know” and walks away.

Are you kidding me?

This lady stays 20 minutes past closing. After telling her once “just so you know we are closing in X minutes” we never pressured her to go. We helped her find stuff to go with the items she liked, got her shoes to go with the dress she was trying on, we gave opinions and advice. 

Meanwhile we couldn't close the registers or do any of the closing things we needed to do because she was there. 

finally she leaves the fitting room, drops the stuff she was going to get announces that she wont buy anything because we made her feel rushed.ARE YOU KIDDING ME? We didn't kick you out, we let you shop well past what we should have and you don't buy anything????   I JUST CAN NOT.

"Excuse me, don’t you have shopping carts?" “No miss I’m sorry, we just have the courtesy tote bags for customers.” “I can’t put my kid in that.”
