It came as a bit of a shock that Urbanshade had experiments dating back so far.
Some older employees though.. they knew. After all, a control group and the testing group of similar ages would only told as much.
The older ones were originally brought in to test a new life extending drug, something to help those with joint pain get some relief and gain the ability to venture out without the issues of their aging bodies. Or told as much.
You Know What That Means? Fish!
Cant have joint pain in the legs if you don't have legs anymore now do we?
Then comes the Blacksite lockdown. Sebastian would be roaming around some hallways, ducking into alcoves as an angler would barrel past. The doors would slide open revealing old offices, cafeterias, therapy pools with the walls lined with tanks…
One door refused to budge, a few scratch marks by the keypad betraying the fact it probably got attacked by one of the more violent entities. Sebastian groaned, moving to reach for his walkie when he heard shifting from behind the door.
He backed up, the hand shifting from the walkie, to his shotgun.
The shuffling continued, until the door slid open just a crack. A pause, then two clawed hands peek out as they grip the door, yanking it open. And two figures towering over the man were revealed.
"…. Oh, oh dearie, I apologize, did we frighten you?"
And now, a new family is made.
Sebastian doesn't trust you two at first. He seems to avoid your general hideout location, but sometimes has to make his way though. Those few times…. he always ran into you two.
You were always kind to him, offering a few candy bars since he 'looked so thin' and to take extra for the road. When you heard him comment offhandedly what his favorite snack was, the search began.
Poor kid needed something to smile about down here. And oh the smile he had when you handed him a tiny half melted candy bar, you would remember that forever.
He warmed up alot after that interaction.
Gifts of fabrics and sweaters were left by the door, as well as some more filling food. You always called him over to eat with you anyways, handing him an extra helping.
The kid needed more meat on his bones.
One time when Sebastian let himself rest in your pool room, P.ai.nter called in. After a short conversation, he asked you for a favor.
Congrats! You have another grandchild!
You didn't have the scrambler, so you were able to check in on the little guy. Old stories of your life before the blacksite was one of his favorite things to listen to.
You had years and years of life. In other decades, sure, but the old family road trips you took with friends and family in your own youth.
You even helped Seb collect more data for Innovation, with P.ai.nter guiding you through the hallways to more data crates. he had to make up for the two additional passengers somehow.
And when you all got out…. the habits never fell away.

Yes the title is a song title, no it's not a song fic, but I'll probably shout out bits of the song. It's by Jet if you want to give it a listen.
Chapter 3: Apple
You didn’t just keep Marco’s number in your little black book, you also put it in your phone. Not because you had wedding bells playing in your head or anything, but because you felt like he deserved as much respect as you could manage to give him.
He was polite. He could dance, hold a conversation even with a live band playing, had good taste in food, and there was just something about him. You felt a bit like you had a personal bodyguard when he was around, but one that trusted you to be able to defend yourself when needed. As though he respected people as much as he wanted to be able to help and protect them.
Maybe it had something to do with his time in the service.
You realize that you don’t know what side he was on, but it didn’t matter. Everyone decided at the end of The War that it wasn’t going to matter. The people on the wrong side had been forced into service, or drowned in propaganda for years prior, and the people on the right side had decided to forgive them.
You hadn’t fought on either side, and so you went with the end decision. It was hard to believe it was almost twenty years ago. The world now felt like it was a lifetime away from those days, but you didn’t want to spend time thinking about the old world.
This weekend was the first one in a while that you didn’t go out and find someone to warm your bed. Every time you walked into a bar you found yourself looking for a specific blonde, and even if it was just for one night, you didn’t think that would be fair to whoever ended up being your partner. You weren’t looking to make a deep connection, but you weren’t looking to be distracted and rude the entire time either.
So, instead, you decided to get some deep cleaning and reorganizing done. You were a little overdue anyway, and it would help you focus your energy into something that wasn’t going to conjure up suave blonde men and their plethora of friends.
You do grin at the idea of Mr. Voluntary Manager turning into Official Manager, and ending up on tour with the biggest breakthrough group of their generation. It’s a nice little distraction that’s slightly less distracting than the other thoughts you have about him when you don’t keep yourself focused on a specific task.
Saturday has you cleaning out your pantry and tossing things that are alarmingly out of date. You’d been rolling the frozen meal routine for long enough your pantry staples moved onto the next life. That was both a little bit embarrassing, and also a wake up call to get some proper grocery shopping in.
Comfy pants, a t-shirt, and sneakers. Nothing fancy, but a step up from your post-fuck morning wear. Purse over your shoulder like a laptop bag just so you aren’t fussing with it while you shop.
It was supposed to be a relatively quick run to the store. Fill a cart, follow a loose list, and then go back home and see what you forgot, or what you still had room for. Instead, about halfway through the trip, you were pretty sure you were losing your mind.
A tall blonde, no wait, gray, almost white hair maybe, had walked by you when you went down one aisle. Mess of hair on the top of his head, but he hadn’t paused when he saw you, and he didn’t turn to look at you. Somehow you felt like Marco would have, but more than that you thought maybe you needed clinical help if you were hallucinating while at the grocery store.
So down bad for a fine piece of ass you’re seeing things.
He didn’t have a cart, or even a hand basket, and you don’t know why that made you think it certainly wasn’t Marco, but it did. Shaking off the strange feeling that you didn’t want to start analyzing anyway, you turned down the next aisle and made it about three feet before your brain fully stuttered.
The man coming up the same aisle looks an awful lot like Marco. From this distance you’d almost swear it was him. Except the longer you gawk, the more you realize he’s not the same person. Just someone who looks alarmingly like Marco.
And who is just as aware and observant as Marco is.
“Well hello young lady,” the man who is not Marco, but who looks uncomfortably similar to Marco says to you. He’s tall, just like Marco, with a mop of white hair on top of his head. He’s got the same sweeping brows, but not the same fashion sense. Less simple and clean office vibes, and a little more beach bum office vibes.
“Is it my dashing good looks, or my utilitarian height?” He prompts the smile on his lips putting a twinkle in his eye.
“Uh… I, it’s…” You shake your head, take a second to compose yourself and then smile quizzically. “Utilitarian height?”
He grins. “I’m almost seven foot tall, darlin’, if you need something off the top shelf I’m yer man.”
“I see,” you hum, matching his wide grin with an amused smile. “You do look a lot like someone I know. So much so I’d be surprised if you’re not related.”
“You must know my Marco,” he says looking very much like how you’d expect a proud father to look. “Yeah, that apple didn’t fall far from the tree.”
Landed by the trunk and rolled around the base a few times, you muse to yourself. Their eye shapes were different, and they had different noses, and the father was a bit broader and thicker than his son. You could see more differences with him up close like this, but in passing it was haunting how similar they looked.
“So are you a friend, or a coworker? You don’t look like one of his army pals.” He questions with all the direct bravado only old men manage.
“He picked up his red-headed friend from my place,” you admit trying to be coy. “Shanks, I think.” It takes him half a second to piece things together, you can tell from the look on his face. “We ran into each other the other night at the Winter Sakura. Those young kids are pretty incredible musicians.”
He nods. “Oh yeah, they’re an energetic lot. Good boys, talented and dedicated.”
He’s opened his mouth to say something more, but a familiar voice stops you both.
“Oi, dad, what’re you doing bothering—.” Marco’s voice catches in his throat when he sees you with his dad. “Sorry about him, yoi.” He gives his dad a glare, and you a smile.
“Nothing to apologize for,” you assure him.
“What are you doing here, anyway?” Marco questions his dad.
“Looking for you.” He answers jovially.
You laugh when Marco deadpans at his dad, the old man giving him the most cat that caught the canary grin you’d seen in a while.
“She was staring, I thought she needed help.” He finally admits. Marco looks from his dad to you and you nod.
“I thought he was… um…” You press your lips together, it’s obvious to both you mistook his father. His dad looks pleased, Marco looks like he wants to hide under a rock. “I honestly thought I was hallucinating for a second.”
“I keep telling him—.”
“Nothing. Stop bothering her.”
“Oh, so you can get back to wooing her?”
You feel the heat rush up to your face, and Marco looks ready to strangle his dad. “No, so we can all get back to finishing our shopping, yoi.”
“You’re not wooing her?” He presses and you feel bad for Marco.
“I have a one-night policy.” You offer up, just loud enough to show you’re not ashamed of it, but just quietly enough you’re not advertising in the middle of the mega mart.
“You have a— oh. I see, well I—.”
“Dad, shut up.” Marco warns, bodily pulling his father back a couple steps. “I am so sorry about him.”
“Oh no, you’re both, ahem, fine.” You admit teasingly, giving Marco a grin that delights his dad even more than it does him. You gesture between the two of them. “So you’re doing some father-son grocery shopping?”
“He’s—.”
“I’m between dog houses right now,” his dad answers and Marco just closes his eyes. “My son’s kind enough to loan me a spare room.”
You have to appreciate his sense of humor at least. “I’d offer you a dog house,” you muse, “but it’d still only be good for one night.”
“I bet I could earn a few more nights than that,” he replies with a confident and cheeky grin. You don’t doubt his declaration honestly. If you had met him first, his son might be having a harder time.
Maybe.
“Oh-by-the-seas,” Marco swears under his breath.
You laugh. “Sorry sir, your son might be able to Scheherazade his way into 1,001 nights, but for you it’s a one-night policy.”
Your reply and a cheeky wink is enough to stutter both of them, brows raised in surprise, and you use that second to excuse yourself and continue on with your shopping. You wish you had been able to take a picture, the expressions on their faces were so perfect.
His dad reminded you of the red-head a little bit. Brash and unafraid, but not rude or crude. Just blunt, and unashamed. Fun, but honestly a little too much for you.
“Tell me you have her number.” Gram says to his son, just enough sense to keep his voice low enough to not be overheard while you’re walking away.
“I don’t have her number.” Marco sighs, practically dragging his father back to their shopping cart, resisting the urge to abandon the shopping and just leave the store right then and there.
“Then what in the hells are you doing standing here, go get her number!”
“She has mine, yoi.”
“Oh? Oh you slick duck, playing it cool like that.”
Marco rolls his eyes. “She has a one-night-only policy, you heard her.”
“And you don’t.”
“I slept around enough back in the day, yoi.”
“Mm, yeah, I know. I know you’re looking for someone to settle down with.”
“Right. We’re on different pages, so it wouldn’t work out.” Marco asserts, reaching past Gram to pull something off the shelf.
“You know,” Gram starts.
“I don’t want to hear it.” Marco grumbles, walking away and forcing him to catch up.
“I’m just saying I heard her loud and clear too,” Gram asserts, and Marco pauses pushing the cart to regard his troublesome father.
“A thousand and one nights is damn near three years.” He states, giving Marco a pointed look. “Hell of a compromise coming from someone who only gave me the one night option.”
─ Summary: you were just trying to help someone and you ended up being the obsession of a criminal organization
─ Warnings: obsession, stalking, toxic behaviors, kidnapping, slight mention of drugs and stuff related
Part two / Part three / Part four / Part five
You turned on the light in your kitchen, almost tripping over one of the stools because your eyes were still half closed, you had fallen asleep correcting the last report that the newspaper where you worked had sent you. You had noticed that you hadn't even had dinner before, so you made a quick meal before heading back to work, but before you could touch your laptop you heard a crash at the front door, as if someone had collapsed and slammed against it.
It's not that you lived in one of the worst areas of the city, but it was strange that something happened in the wee hours of the morning, you walked slowly, opening the door, or trying to, because the body of a man was blocking the entrance, a few minutes of struggle was enough for the unconscious body to fall to the other side, leaving you to open the door completely and contemplate the man.
He had one of those mullets that were fashionable among young people, several earrings, some scars on his mouth and stains of what appeared to be vomit and blood, okay, you did not want to interfere with anyone who seemed to be a drug addict, but on second thought, it was better to help the man than to have to give statements to the police as to why there was a dead body at your door.
You dragged him home and laid him on the couch, laying him on his side so he wouldn't choke on his own vomit if he ever did, though after further scanning you decided he needed a good shower. You did not feel self-conscious in doing this job, you are of an age and you have worked in many things, among them you had a position taking care of the elderly, all kinds of care being more specific, so no, you did not feel uncomfortable having to wash this man.
You changed his clothes and put his striped suit in the wash, leaving him back on the sofa, you continued with your work, reading and quickly correcting the errors you found, the night passed quite quickly and you fell asleep once you were completely done your work, sending it to the head of the newspaper.
The next morning you woke up with a gun pointed at your temple and that man's pretty eyes staring back at you, good way to start the day indeed.
"Who the hell are you?"
"Are you young people these days so ungrateful? It was you who passed out on the doorstep of my house at two in the morning."
He lowered the gun, seeming to remember some parts of his night, he sat still a little bewildered and with his head elsewhere because of the drugs taken yesterday, he looked at you in silence now noticing his change of clothes as well as the smell of his hair, it was not the smell of his usual shampoo.
"Did you…?"
"Yes, oh, don't be ashamed, it's been a long time since I stopped being interested in that kind of thing, at a certain age the only thing one looks for is economic stability and peace of mind, are you going to stay for lunch?"
He blinked contemplating your calm form, he didn't know if he was still under the pressure of narcotics, but he didn't reject your proposal, Sanzu was anything but embarrassing, however he felt like a little boy next to you being cared for by the mother he never had.
For your part, he was not the first brat you helped, you had married friends, with grown children or adolescents who did not stop getting into small problems, you acted like the aunt who drinks wine and criticizes everyone at family gatherings, for your attitude, they found it easier to access you when they had problems they didn't want your friends ─their moms─ to know about, you always had their backs unless it was something that was detrimental to their health, then you wouldn't hesitate to call your friends to give their children a lecture, even as adults.
That same attitude was the one that made Sanzu visit you more often than he would like to admit, although most of the times he left scolded for coming home drunk or drugged, you never closed the door on him, how could you? You weren't heartless enough to leave him lying in the street when he came desperately asking for help with some of his hallucinations.
Your kindness led him to an obsession towards you, you were like his little lifeboat, his conscious part about all the madness in which he was involved, he began to watch you from afar, observing your interactions with strangers and friends, it bothered him, it bothered him that you were just as kind to others as you were to him, he wanted all your attention just for him. He was also worried about you, he had seen the worst part of the rotten world in which he lived, someone with a soft heart like you could not survive against the predators of this society.
Of course, Bonten executives were not stupid, usually most of them lived in the headquarters, they had private properties where they spent a few days or weeks, but most of the time they were in that headquarter, especially Sanzu, that's why they started to noticing his absence more and more, it's not like he had to explain himself to anyone ─except if Mikey asked him to─ but his behavior was strange, didn't he arrive drugged? It seemed like a bad joke, clothes without a bloodstain? he was definitely doing something outside their radar.
Not that the others cared much, but the Haitani brothers were a bit nosy, like gossips who want to know why their partner seems happier when he comes back in the morning after a night of 'fun'. They discussed it a couple of times with the others when Sanzu wasn't around, and they all agreed that his behavior was unusual, so they began to investigate what he did in his leisure.
This led to an ordinary person like you being watched by two executives of the largest criminal organization in the country. At first they thought that you were a whore with whom he had fallen in love, but investigating more about you, they discovered that you were a lady with an established daily life, there was nothing about you that stood out and yet you seemed so interesting.
"Sanzu please, I need to finish correcting this report, I promise you that later you can have all the hugs you want."
"No."
He tightened his grip on your waist, burying his face in the crook of your neck, you were trying to do your job but Sanzu found your hugs too comforting after you once found him crying ─from being drugged─, killing people leaves obstacles in any person and as much as he loved it, certain deaths of innocent people always ended up flying over his thoughts like ghosts that tormented him from time to time.
The sound of the doorbell made you stop typing, moving the man slightly away to go to open, you were not expecting a visitor which was strange to you, Sanzu felt a chill when you opened the door, meeting the eyes of the youngest of the Haitani directly, he got up quickly without even letting you ask what those guys wanted, he pulled you back before Ran could drag you with him.
"What the fuck are you two doing here?"
"Make sure you don't have too much fun, are you so in love that you forget the meetings?"
They started a little discussion while you looked blankly, you and Rindou looked at each other in silence while the other two talked, you greeted with a brief nod, thinking they were Sanzu's coworkers.
Luckily just when the discussion was getting more heated, a 'ding' coming from the oven threw everyone off concentration, taking advantage of this you got out of the man's strong grip, walking towards the kitchen to see that the cookies you had been working on before were ready.
"There are plenty of cookies for everyone, Sanzu you can invite your friends."
"They are not my friends!"
"That's very kind of you, we'd love to meet our friend's friend."
So you ended up having lunch with the three men in an awkward silence between them, due to the tension of which you preferred not to take into account, Ran and Rindou were quite nice and understood that you were not a love interest, nor did you want it, nor did you seek it. Alarm bells of boys without a mother figure going off again, of course you caught their interest more than before, they knew your background but not your personality, and they ended up falling into that obsession towards you, as if there was something that made them gravitate towards you, was it because of your simplicity? for your kind words? They didn't know it, but they were jealous that Sanzu could snuggle up against you and they would have to keep more of their distance.
Now you had three of Bonten's executives constantly visiting your house, whether it was asking you for small favors or advice on nonsense to asking you to make them cookies or food in general, they just desperately wanted your attention, like babies crying out for their mother.
This cycle of obsession only made the others begin to suspect that they were up to something, whether it was harmful to Bonten or not, Takeomi was the first to notice, Kokonoi the same, he noticed how the brothers spent a certain amount of money, which they didn't used to do that often, followed by Kakucho, Mochizuki and lastly Mikey.
So it led you to be kidnapped by Mochi after doing enough research on you, because they didn't take much notice of it at first when the brothers first noticed. You were tied hand and foot, a blindfold was removed after consciousness returned to you, you found yourself face to face with a man with immense dark circles and eyes full of lifeless, on his right side another man with a large scar on his face, on his left side another man with a small scar on his left eye.
You felt something cold touching your temple, again you had a gun pointed at you, held by the same boy who had kidnapped you, you turned your head also noticing another man with long white hair.
"Who are you and why do you have my executives after you?"
"Executives…?" you looked at everyone carefully, connecting the dots when you saw their tattoos "Oh- so that's why they never wanted to tell me what they worked for… are you some kind of organization? Like arms smuggling, money laundering or something?"
You took the situation calmly, that your life was hanging by a thread right now was not one of your biggest concerns, you had lived a full and happy life up to now, you had no regrets, you were mature enough to understand the point at which you were, the more the years go by, the less afraid you are of the things that used to terrify you when you were young.
"GET YOUR DIRTY HANDS OFF MY MOTHER!"
Everyone was surprised to see how Sanzu entered kicking Mochizuki so that the weapon flew out of his hands, away from you, the Haitani brothers followed closely untying you quickly while all those men had a discussion of looks, the dense silence was broken by your giggle, you were trying to control yourself as much as you could but it was impossible.
"My God, Sanzu, you just called me mom!?"
The boy's face was completely dyed in pink tones, all the attention was now focused on you while you let out a laugh at the slip that your child had, something made the hearts of others clench in pain when they heard your laugh, no matter how bad it sounded, whether it was asthmatic, uproarious, or silent laughter, it was like real music to the ears of all the executives at Bonten, including the leader. As if you had flipped a switch in the mind of their rotten minds, they now had a new interest in you, as if you had further triggered an obsession you were unaware of with the first three you met.
They began to understand why those three felt attracted to you, it was as if your mere presence was intoxicating for them, as if just listening to you or looking at you calmed their broken hearts, many alarms from boys without a mother figure, of course that was a triggering reason, all these men longed for that kind of love that they could hardly experience.
Now you had the criminal organization after you, not in a bad way, more like a bunch of men acting childishly because of your limited attention. One thing they were clear about without the need to speak, you were not going to leave their sight for a single moment from now on.
Hello! If it's okay, can I make a silly request? (I think they are open? I apologize if they aren't) may I request something fluffy with the immortal characters (which ever you write for) where their s/o is mortal but they've been together so long that their s/o is an old wrinkly person and the s/o gets mistaken for their grandparent? I just want some cute fluff, but everyone writes smut 😫
Eternal love ♡︎
hi anon!! yep, reqs are open!! i'm so sorry for not being here for some time, exam week was hell but i'm back now lovelies!!
idk rlly which immortal characters you meant but i hope it's okay that i chose these two!! and also i know that this is like fluff and all but for some reason this is so sad to me!! like yeah the reader is old and they are immortal but the reader is GONNA DIE AND OH MY GOD THEY'LL BE ALONEEEEEE AND GRIEVEINGGGG i don't deal well with thinking about death so this was a little challenging to write. but fun!! and hehe don't worry anon even though i write smut more i'm always here for fluff!!
-> being in love with an immortal being had its' many perks, and yet, it had it's flaws. you only began to realize those flaws existed once you celebrated your 50th anniversary with your husband.
reqs open ♡︎
-> zhongli
"there you go, love. would you like to rest now? it is way past your usual nap time... you're sure you'd like to stay here?"
your husband asked, handsome face washed in worry for you. his appearance, ever so youthful and mighty, completely contrasted with your wrinkles and gray hair. but morax didn't mind the slightest - he still thought you were beautiful.
even though you were now hunched over, thick glasses sitting snuggly on the bridge of your nose and spent most od your times either asleep or knitting, he had loved you just the same as all those years ago. he looked at you now, at seventy, in that same way he did when you were his sweet, twenty-year-old fiancé. you were still you, no matter how old, and you were still the most heavenly person he has ever met.
"i'm sure, dear," you reassure, nodding softly, "i would like another cup of tea, please"
he hurriedly called the waiter of the lovely liyue café you were sitting at to bring you a cup more.
"could we get one more cup of this tea for my date?"
the waiter, seemingly very polite and kind, nodded.
"certainly, sir. and i have to comment, i think it's very lovely you're taking your grandma out for brunch! i don't get many people who respect their elders"
zhongli's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. respect his elders? when he was the one a aproximately a millenia older than you?
your husband looked to you, then back, clearing his throat. his voice slightly offended, he spoke: "this is my wife. we're celebrating our anniversary"
the way the waiter's face fell made you softly giggle, giving him a look full of empathy. you knew you appeared much older than zhongli and that people weren't used to it, with you looking like some kind of sugar mommy he married for the inheritance. people had no idea he was actually the older one, and how would they even be able to tell with the way his face hasn't aged a day?
"oh, ma'am, i'm so sorry, i cincerely apologise-"
"it's alright, sweetheart, i can see why you'd think i'm his granny!" you laughingly reassure. the waiter quickly runs to get you your tea, and zhongli turns to you.
"pft, you're not even that old, love. seventy-three is nothing." he scoffs, kissing your saggy cheek, "and no matter how old you are, i don't appreciate you calling another man sweetheart"
-> neuvillette
"are you alright? would you like to sit down, mon amour?" he asks, moving his feet inch by inch as he walked alongside you. even though this pace was almost torterous for him, he'd never dare go any faster. he'd walk alongside you, always, no matter if it meant he had to move at a snail's pace.
"i'm quite alright, my dear. but, could we have a break, just for a moment?"
his ocean-blue eyes frantically searched for a spot to rest, scanning a nearby bench. he set you down on it, wrapping a careful arm around your shoulder and let you rest.
you were so adorable, even now, with saggy skin and an obsession with cardigans. his beautiful, incredible wife, so gorgeous and full of life even though you were in your seventies.
those eyes of yours looked at him with just as much love and just as much wanting as they did a whole lifetime ago. when you first got married, he always had that thought in the back of his mind of a youth potion, always thinking that ot would feel weird if you would change with age and he would not.
but he was wrong. chief justice neuviellette was so, so wrong.
it wasn't weird at all - it was beautiful. your face and body, even though old and wrinkly, perfectly showed everything you two went through; your big smile lines, from a lifetime of chuckling with him, eyes so full of care from the few young ones you raised, hands veiny and rough from a lifetime of caressing his scales.
"would you like to feed the birds, mon cherie? remember, we brought the bread crumbs?"
you nodd softly, softly laying your gray head on your husbands chest.
"oh, yes, the birds! i almost forgot!"
as he gives you a little baggy filled with some leftover baguette breadcrumbs from your breakfast that morning, a couple of melusines swarmed around the two of you.
"mr. neuvillette! mr. neuvillette! we have never seen your grandma before!! hello, mrs. neuvillette's grandma, very nice to meet you!"
your husband softly chuckled, intertwining your fingers. he pressed a loving kiss to your hand, returning his gaze to the scattered melousines: "this is my wife, and i can asure you, you've met her many times before"
"oh, really? we can't remember.." one of the melousines replied, scratching her head.
"that's alright, neither does she" he whispers playfully, earning him a soft smack from you, "hey, i can still hear you, you know!"
ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki holding his mortal wife’s hand gently and sorrowfully, as she passes away from old age. When her hand goes fully limp, and her soul has gone, Loki lets out a whimper and presses the hand he’s holding against his forehead. Tears stream silently from his face. It is the best way to go, but even knowing that doesn’t lessen the pain of parting.
Outside the room, the children and grandchildren look on with grief as they see their mother/grandmother pass away. There are many tears being shed, but it is quiet.
Everyone knows that the one who is hurting most is Loki.
NOTES/WARNINGS: Old!Fem!Reader is on her deathbed and Loki has to say goodbye.
AUTHOR'S NOTES: Yeah I am done working on this so you all can have this. I have too many tears into this fic.

Loki watched as you gave your best attempt at a smile. The wrinkles around your mouth and eyes deeped once again to show how happy you always were. This was a moment where Loki was supposed to comfort you. You were not supposed to comfort him right now, but that did not stop you from trying. You gently squeezed his hand, a very weak attempt…
Loki knew from the beginning you were a weakling compared to him. He dreaded this day from the day you stole his heart. -No… stole was not the right word… It made you sound so malicious, evil. You showed him kindness and with time you were able to warm his heart, even when he had it locked up. You were the one to stimulate his mind with so many questions he had not bothered asking.
You talked with your soft voice, shaking and groveling from too much effort. "I had a good life Loki, and I have you to thank for blessing me with a large family to love."
Though it pained him to smile, he kissed your hand. "I should be thanking you for our family… I promise to take care of them all."
You took in a shaking breath. "I know you will, you never had to make the promise outloud. You have a soft heart Loki, and I got to see it get even softer when you held our children.. and Grandchildren."
Loki watched as you looked to the youngest grandchild, only 4 months old. He watched your eyes glisten and he just knew you wished for a little more time. Loki wanted you to be by his side longer but there was nothing he could do.
"Have I been forgiven… for spilling that drink all over you.?"
Loki looked at your face, that teasing sparkle in your eyes.
"My love. You are forgiven." Loki smiled even though the memories hurt right now. "Our first date that I bargained for forgiveness was enough. I never would have imagined that there would be the first time you told me you loved me. You showed me love even when I was so guarded. You never gave up on me when I gave up."
Another gentle squeeze and smile. "I will never give up on you."
Loki's eyes watered as he thought of how you would not be there to hold him during his doubts -But he couldn't think of that right now. Instead he stroked your cheek with a smile. He leaned up to place a kiss on your lips for a brief moment, knowing it would be the last he shared with you.
You smiled when Loki pressed his forehead to yours. Your eyes, still youthful, brightened with the love you had for him.
Loki loved your eyes. He always has because they showed him everything he needed to know. Even now, they showed love and not any amount of fear.
Something changed in your eyes as you spoke quietly… "I love you."
Everyone rushed the children out of the room. They all said their goodbyes and let Loki have this last minute in peace.
Loki sat back, clutching your hand desperately.
"You are the love of my life. I love you, y/n."
It happened too fast.
Your eyes closed even though the fight to stay a little longer was hard. Your smile slowly faded, but somehow was still there… Your hand went limp in his hands.
Loki pushed your hand to his forehead as tears streamed down his face. His mouth pressed together as he tried to silence his pain.
You were gone.
The moment he never wanted to happen.
Loki took in a shuttering breath, whimpering as the memories of you flashed in his mind.
Rumors say when you die your memories will flash before your eyes, and Loki certainly felt like his life had ended with you.
The memories were of his years of jokes of how Loki would bring up how you ruined his black suit with your drink. He had fell in love with you the moment he looked into your eyes. You apologized profusely and Loki stated he would forgive you, if you went on a date with him.
However, that was the FIRST time he used that excuse and for some reason you let him continue to use his "ruined" suit as leverage to get you to do what he wanted. Even a few times he was wearing said suit after it was dry cleaned but you would still go along with it. With the reminder of his suit you would do anything. He never held a grudge against you for it but he was selfish. He always asked for more.
His eyes landed on your peaceful face.
Was this the price of his greed?
-Was a lifetime of memories the cost of forgiveness?
A hand rested on his shoulder. The voice of his oldest close but distant as well. "Mom said if you ever made that face to tell you she spilled the drink on purpose."
Loki felt the odd sensation of a laugh trickle from his mouth. Loki feared saying anything because he knew his voice would not work, so instead he gripped the hand on his shoulder and patted it in silence. The odd sensation was gone but it left a flickering light of joy in his chest. He smiled, knowing that you had chosen him all along. Tears were still leaking from him at the loss of you but he knew one day your life would be a joyous story to be told.
"She knew that would make you laugh…"
Loki's voice cracked when he spoke. "She always had a way of making a story more memorable."
Most of the reader insert content I see involves a young, usually teenaged reader. But can we have headcanons for the surviving human being a person about 60ish years old? Somebody who misses their kids and maybe even has war memories...
OMG!!!
- They were a part of the group that Hunter had betrayed to Belial but they got lucky, in that they were off scavenging when the demon lord struck the camp. For weeks, they wander aimlessly through the city, hoping to run into somebody who survived. They’d have no way of knowing that Hunter was involved.
- Eventually, they’re picked up by the horseman, Death.
- They have a multitude of their own survivor stories that impress, intrigue and enrapture the old horseman, especially on dark nights a good story is called for.
- When they find out what happened to Death’s brother, they tell him that they understand what he’s going through. Death responds cruelly, telling them that they couldn’t have an inkling of how he feels.
- It’s only after a few days of terse and awkward conversation that they eventually remind him that they had children and a family once. And that they had to watch the people they’d raised and loved from birth get slaughtered like cattle right before their eyes.
- Calls everyone ‘young man’ or ‘young lady,’ except for Eideard and The Crowfather.
- Death finds it especially irritating, given that they’re the youngest of all.
- Bonds with Eideard exceptionally quickly. They reminisce together on the times when their worlds weren’t on the brink of destruction.
- They get wistful when they meet Karn, Alya and Valus because the three remind them of the teenagers back at camp.
- There’s nothing frail about them and they have no trouble keeping up with Death. They’ve been fighting and surviving and running for nearly half a century, so they’re fitter than anyone expects.
- Still, they’re undeniably world weary and they can feel their resolve crumbling with each passing day. They admit to Death that before they met him, they’d been considering just giving it all up.
- “I’ve had a good run,” they tell him, “Time to let someone else take over the fight.” But when the prospect of maybe restoring humanity is suddenly on the table, they break down in a crying heap. “You’re to tell me I could see my family again? I could see my children? My grandchildren?” The horseman nods, but urges them not to get their hopes up, there’s still time for things to go wrong.
- They have enough experience and knowhow to tackle any demon they come across. They’ve spent decades studying each variant and this knowledge often proves invaluable to Death.
- They’re underestimated a lot by their enemies. Not only because they’re human, but because of their age. So they use it to their advantage. The element of surprise has saved them many times.
- They’ve dealt with Vulgrim and Samael several times in the past and are on first-name basis with both of them.
- Has something of a flirtationship going on with Wicked K.
- Whenever Death does something dramatic, they look to the nearest person - or Dust, more often than not - and sigh, “Kids today.”
- Suffers from terrible ptsd, night terrors and insomnia. A life of living in fear of being disembowelled as you sleep tends to keep one’s mind too alert for sleep.
- Only starts to get more hours of rest once they’ve been with Death for a few weeks. He’s the only person who makes them feel safe.
@simpingfor-wakasa, @luno-614 did you want the second part? here it is!! 🫂
You sighed leaving the shopping bags at the entrance of your house, turning on the lights in the living room while you carried the bags back to the kitchen, only before you could even take a step you screamed when you saw Mikey sitting on your sofa eating a cookie quietly.
"Holy fu-, do you want me to have a heart attack one of these days?"
You had not seen his figure before so it was normal for you to be scared, although in recent weeks you had had these intruders breaking into your house, you did not recriminate them for breaking into your home because they practically "spared" your life that day in which they kidnapped you, yet the Bonten leader kept insisting that you should stay with them in their headquarters because the city was full of predators who could take advantage of the likes of you.
"You know that you still have time to come with us."
You had denied his offer by active and passive but nothing seemed to make Mikey reason, he didn't want to resort to kidnapping because he had already experienced that look from you once when you found him binging on the cookies you had made for everyone, of course he didn't want to share them, he snuck into your house at night so that they would only be his. Receiving that look of disapproval and disappointment made his heart sink, as if he were a kicked and scolded cat.
They had discovered that threats ─even if they were empty─ were useless against you, you had lived long enough for that kind of thing to affect you and you already had some loved ones waiting in the other world, besides, no matter how sadistic Sanzu was, he flatly refused that none of the other executives could even think of raising their hand to you or thinking of torture to make you bow down to them.
So Kakucho was the one who discovered that the best thing they could do to 'protect' you was blackmail, well, he thought it would work out considering that you didn't deny helping them whenever they came to your house looking for comfort or help, but you weren't an idiot. They were men old enough to take care of themselves, besides being criminals.
“Mikey, really, I don't know why I'm not six meters underground yet, I appreciate that, but I like my ordinary life."
Of course, Kokonoi offered you countless kinds of luxuries to try to take you into a comfortable life with them, which you refused just the same. Mikey got up walking towards the kitchen where you were placing the purchase, an action that was completely interrupted when the man hugged you, letting his face rest against your back.
"It's not fair… why can't you accept it? we just want you to be safe, I- I need you by my side, I want you to pay attention to me!"
And there he is… you didn't know Mikey's personality when he acted like a leader everyone feared, but next to you he was like a spoiled attention-seeking kid who throws a tantrum if he doesn't get what he wants. You turned so that his head rested on your chest, tightening your embrace a little and rubbing his back in circles, you had to push the atrocities these men engaged in very deep, but there was not much you could do about it either, it's not like if you could change their lives of crime, so as in all your life, swallow and follow the course of things, if these guys wanted your attention you were not going to deny it as long as they cut you out of their business and behave moderately around you.
"You don't need me seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day by your side, plus you always invade my apartment when you want."
He didn't respond to your words, he only clung to you more, almost squeezing you to get every last drop of your affection, Mikey knew he couldn't with your will to continue with your daily routine, but if that was going to continue like this the least he could do was spend as much time as possible with you.
Although as much as it bothers him, he is the leader and he has things to attend to, so he lets you have time with the others, much to his displeasure of course, he doesn't like to share very much, but he knows that you will scold him if he doesn't let the others have their time with you. Takeomi was in charge of making a schedule, taking into account your work hours and even leaving you one day off so that you had privacy and peace, although on those days off Rindou or Sanzu would surely escape to see you even though they weren't allowed to.
Kakucho would always accompany you when you had to cook, before you only had to make food for yourself, and now you find eight grown men clamoring for your homemade food, you appreciated the boy's help and he was more than happy to hear your praise about how well he cook, oh boy, Kaku's chest swells with joy every time you taste his food and you smile at him like a proud mother who has taught her son a new recipe that he has mastered perfectly. Although he doesn't show it as openly as the others, he yearns for your hugs in silence.
Kokonoi always accompanied you when shopping, this man will not let you spend a penny of your money while he is there, he makes sure that you don't lack for anything, although he is a bit annoyed that you refuse to buy stupidly expensive clothes, they just want to spoil you for everything you do for them, even if you don't even realize that your simple actions drive them crazy.
Mochi is undoubtedly the one that stalks you the most, he has to make sure that no creep gets too close, if this happens he will be calling Ran to find out information about that person and they will immediately contact Sanzu to eliminate them. After all you only need them and other people are harmful to you, of course they will still let you keep your close friends and family because they make you happy, and they wouldn't do anything wrong with you, unless they do, when someone close to you does something to you that they don't like, they will comfort you after that person died mysteriously or in an 'accident'.
Which happened… it had to happen, it was a friend you made relatively recently, just a few months before Sanzu collapsed at the door of your house that dawning. You felt comfortable with him and you got closer quite quickly, although you usually used to communicate more by messages than face to face, you always made time to go out one day, the Bonten men controlled all the people you interacted with, even if they were a simple supermarket clerk, if their tone were apathetic with you, they wouldn't last much longer in this world.
Just as they knew everyone you talked to, they knew about this man and they didn't like him one bit, they looked up information about him and Rindou found out that he was a filthy gambler who spent a few nights in brothels, had some history of violence and minimal arrests, it was enough. But the worst thing was the way he looked at you, Takeomi described it when he was following you secretly, his eyes looked at you with disgusting love when you only saw him as a good friend, that thing shouldn't even deserve a second of your time. Mikey asked you about him one day ─because he's a 'curious' boy and wanted to know things directly from you─ and they found out that this disgusting guy simply lied to you about his job and hobbies, although you already found out on your own and complained to him, he promised that he was trying to fix and run his life again, you accepted it by deciding to keep the friendship.
And the guy really started to straighten his life out a bit, but still… that look he gave you kept bugging your boys, plus if you got a partner your attention would get harder and harder to get and they weren't passing by. Even though you weren't interested in having a partner, it didn't convince them, that guy was going to make you feel uncomfortable because he planned to declare himself and you didn't feel the same, it was the breaking point and the end for him.
Today was your friend's funeral, not much in the mood to stay there any longer, you gave your condolences to the family and went home with tears running from your eyes, maybe he wasn't the best person but you still considered him a friend. When you got home, what you least expected was to see those eight men waiting impatiently for you, they knew it, they knew that you were a little more vulnerable now and they wanted to take advantage of that.
"Why is everyone here? Something has happened? I'm not going to launder money or hide weapons here if you want any of those favors."
You wiped your tears leaving your jacket on the coat rack, the first to approach you was Mikey, murmuring your name as he dragged you to the sofa.
"We just had a bad feeling, are you okay?"
"Oh…"
They acted worried even though it hurt to see your tears, a little upset because they were tears for that scum, but now they wanted to focus on making you feel better in their arms. Mikey self-proclaimed your lap as his seat, passing his arms around your shoulders, resting his head on your chest to listen to the sound of your heart, the rhythm of your pulsations was too relaxing and addictive for him. Ran and Rin were on either side of you, clinging to your arms, Sanzu and Kokonoi sat on the ground, leaning their foreheads against your knees, hugging your legs while Kakucho stood up comfortingly stroking your head. Mochi and Takeomi looked askance as they all clung to you without giving them space to do so as well.
Takeomi was not one to go against his leader's orders, however, he would take it upon himself to limit Mikey's time with you just by taking up so much of your time.
"Okay guys, I don't feel half of my body."
You asked to be released because you began to stop feeling your arms, which had fallen asleep due to the iron grip of the Haitani, reluctantly everyone released you or gave you your necessary space.
"Are you feeling better?"
Kakucho asked without stopping massaging your scalp, you let out a shaky breath, you had already had your fill of crying all morning and you had barely eaten anything, you nodded closing your eyes, feeling tired from all the emotions released today.
"Yes, thank you very much guys, I love you."
You muttered without taking into account the weight of those words on the criminals, they all froze, planning to crush you in a desperate embrace right then and there if the rumbling of your stomach didn't stop them. Your cheeks began to take on a slight pinkish tint, cause of embarrassment, they were usually the ones who came to you to be fed, their guts rumbling, but not you.
"So I guess we're ordering food?"
Koko already had his phone ready to call the most expensive restaurant in the city, you knew what he was planning to do so you got up and gently took the phone from him, denying it.
"No, I can do something quick."
"Okay, we can do something quick."
You smiled sweetly at Kakucho for offering to help, receiving death glares at his cunning, Mikey immediately jumped up grabbing onto your leg, pouting like a complete child.
"I can help too."
"Mikey… I would like you to help too, but last time you burned my pan."
