In 1982, a single song could have catapulted the young Swiss singer and songwriter Olivia Gray (then simply Olivia) to global stardom overnight. The headline in the biggest Swiss newspaper was already promising: "Kojak makes Swiss singer Olivia a world star." The background story was worthy of a movie: Brian Carter, the manager of Hollywood star Telly Savalas, was looking for a follow-up single to his worldwide hit ”Some Broken Hearts Will Never Mend.” He connected with the talented Swiss artist. Olivia composed the song ”Put Your Head Down Tonight,” which Telly Savalas subsequently recorded. The release seemed a mere formality. But fate intervened: Carter’s label, BCM Records, was unexpectedly dissolved shortly thereafter. The finished recording vanished, and the dream was shattered. It was a huge disappointment for everyone involved. For four decades, the original master tape of Telly Savalas was considered lost. But just a few months ago, the incredible news arrived: The long-lost tape containing the recordings of the
"Kojak" star resurfaced in England - and eventually made its way to Olivia Gray. Both Olivia and the renowned producer Urs Wiesendanger of the Powerplay Recording Studios were immediately thrilled by the quality of the historical recording and the timeless song. To give this wild, 40-year old story a fitting and modern ending, Wiesendanger made a creative decision: He re-produced
the song - not just with Telly Savalas' vocals alone, but as a duet. With the help of modern AI technology and in consultation with Olivia Gray, the creative virtuoso was able to perfectly merge her voice with Savalas’ historical recording. The forgotten song «Put Your Head Down Tonight» is now celebrating its delayed and spectacular premiere - as a duet that has spanned decades.

Thomas wrote the song after moving to Miami, Florida, and hearing Walter Cronkite on the radio reporting on the number of deaths in the Vietnam War. The song is notable for being recorded in mono; its sparse, stripped-down production, features a Lowrey organ, bossa nova-style percussion from an early rhythm machine,[2] and Thomas's passionate, soulful vocal. Thomas recorded a demo at Bobby Dukoff Recording Studios in North Miami, Florida,
Written and first recorded by civil-rights activist Oscar Brown in 1963; it became a hit single for American singer Al Wilson in 1968. The song tells a story similar to Aesop's fable The Farmer and the Viper and the African American folktale "Mr. Snake and the Farmer". The song gained renewed attention during the campaign for the 2016 United States presidential election.

Dylan allegedly wrote it on Thanksgiving Day in 1965, though some biographers doubt this, concluding that he most likely improvised the lyrics in the studio. The song has been criticized by some for sexism or misogyny in its lyrics, and has received a mixed critical reaction. Some critics have suggested that the song was inspired by Edie Sedgwick, while others consider that it refers to Dylan's relationship with fellow folk singer Joan Baez. Retrospectively, the song has received renewed praise, and in 2011, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Dylan's version at number 232 in their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Jones and her lover and fellow songwriter Tom Waits spent a lot of time hanging out with their friend Chuck E. Weiss at the seedy Tropicana Motel in Los Angeles. Eventually, Weiss, affectionately referred to as "Chuck E.", disappeared. Later, Weiss called the apartment where Jones and Waits lived. When Waits took the call, Weiss explained that he was in Denver and that he had moved there because he had fallen in love with a cousin there. When Waits hung up, he announced to Jones, "Chuck E.'s in love". Jones liked the sound of the sentence and wrote a song around it.
