I've been watching ink master for the first time while on maternity leave and I have some observations.

1. It's pretty racist. They are constantly talking shit about darker skin tones and how horrible they are to tattoo, but I've seen work done on poc that looks vibrant as hell! Maybe they are just shitty tattoo artists 🤷‍♀️

2. They are Hella mysoginistic, like seriously, the girls in the comp get wayyyy more shit than anyone else.

3. If anyone is even slightly nice, they're done. Sausage played respectfully and was the kindest he could be until they pushed him to his limit. Craig Foster played his first season in the comp as fairly and kindly as possible and when he came back for master and apprentice, he was like, can't be nice being nice gets you eliminated.

4. Some of the judging seems pretty arbitrary. I honestly think having the guest judges does make it fairer, but if Dave Navarro is supposed to be there in the position of the client, he needs to speak up more. I only saw him put his foot down once in s2 about an artist going home and it was because the tatt was jacked TF up.

5. I can understand the controversy coming off the last season. It doesn't feel finished to have them split the money.

There's probably more but I'm on master and apprentice still so I may add more to this as time goes on. Also wtf with Tyler and Marissa getting in a relationship on the COMPETITION, then she coached him through the critique and torpedoed her chance to win $100,000 like dude, does he have a golden dick or something .... Just don't get it.

Edit: season 7 revenge:

- they should never have brought back At Marq he is a massive d*ckhead.

-Yay Clean!!!! Hotrods and choppers!!! Love iit

- good on Christian for making it clear that he is playing it as a COMPETITION which is what it is.

-They should all band together and just get rid of St Marq. I hate that guy.... Tattoo god pfffftttt

-only took 4 episodes to take a slightly racist turn again talking about darker skin muddying up colour. Be a better artist. Skin type may not hold a colour, my white skin doesn't, but skin tone does not.

-fuck yeah St Marq is gone!!!
