OLIVET-le Loiret

In the small town of Hugo, Oklahoma, you can find Olivet Cemetery. Most of the burials there are more recent and modern than are our usual cup of tea. We tend to be more attracted to the old places.
Olivet, however, has some of the most unique and creative headstones I have ever found in all our cemetery wanderings. You find farmers, ranchers, rodeo riders, and in one section known as "Showmen's Rest", surrounded by little elephant statues every few feet, you'll find a group of Circus Performers.
Hugo was long the home base to a couple of traveling tent circus companies. There is also a "retirement/rescue" home for former circus elephants in the area, but we didn't have a chance to search it out this trip.

Boat garage, Loiret, Olivet, France: Olivet is crossed by the Loiret, a 13 km long river which is both a tributary and a resurgence of the Loire. The small village of character of Ousson-sur-Loire certainly contains among the most beautiful banks of the Loire in the Region. Olivet is a commune in the department of Loiret, north-central France. Olivet is located in the northern bend of the Loire, which crosses from east to west. Olivet belongs to the Loire Valley sector between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes-sur-Loire, which was in 2000 inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.Wikipedia
