Out of curiosity, what does an alpha-alpha relationship look like? Obviously I ask this partly in relation to Lex and Ethan, but also just in general in your hcs

The way I see it, Alpha-Alpha and Omega-Omega relationships would probably be a part of the LBGTQ+ community in this universe. So there's definitely bigotry against these kinds of relationships. Couples like John and Wilbur, Alive and Deb, and Ethan and Lex all face some form of discrimination, with Macnacross and Deb and Alice receiving a double dose of it due to being same sex and same second gender couples. It's partially why John and Wilbur were never open about being a couple (the other reason being that Wilbur was John's commanding officer).

I could also see Alpha-Alpha couples having a slightly easier time than Omega-Omega couples. That's not to say they don't experience discrimination, but Omega-Omega couples also deal with a form of sexism on top of it. A lot of ‘Oh they need Alphas to deal with heats.’ type bs. There's been a big fight for these couples to have the same rights in the eyes of the government. That was one of the big things Howard has done with his political career.

Ruts and heats would be handled probably the same way, just with more use of toys. Just like how there's an Alpha pheromone that can calm Omegas in heat, there's an Omega pheromone that does the same to Alphas in rut. I could Alpha-Alpha couples using an artificial version of said pheromone to make ruts a little easier.

can Mari possess people?????? does she have any other trademark ghost abilities aside from being generally incorporeal like making lights flicker, sending chills down spines if she’s nearby, making doors and stairs extra creaky, or being able to make her voice echo if she goes “ooOoooOoo”?

speaking of, what are the rules around becoming a ghost? i presume not everyone who dies becomes one in this world, so is there a specific set of requirements? i.e. things done in life, cause of death, whether or not you have unfinished business, etc, or is Mari’s case special?

Yep! Mari can possess people and objects. She can mess with objects she's currently posessing, making them flicker, open/close, float in the air, ect ect. She also brings down the room temperature when she's in ghost form, concentrated around her. At most its about ten degrees if you're standing directly next to her. She can also change her physical appearance (ex. Hellmari Canon) and her voice is naturally a bit echo-y while incorporeal.

Posessing people is a bit of a process, because the host's consciousness will fight to kick her out of their body. It's incredibly draining on both her and the possessed, and she can really only possess people for a few moments (unless they let her possess them, which bumps the time to a minute or two). She gets a bit of a glimpse into the possessed's mind while she's in there as well, but she can't really explain what she sees in any coherent manner. Both her and the possessed will experience mild vertigo at the least once she leaves the body, and depending on some factors like health, duration, or mental state, either or both could faint. It's really a last resort, a mental smack in the face for the possessed. She does it to Sunny occasionally when he's too deep in bloodthirst to calm himself.

Not everyone becomes a ghost, and it's mostly a person-by-person basis. Any of the reasons you listed could be factors, but it's definitely a rare occurrence. In Mari's case, it was to protect Sunny from SOMEONE. She basically told God to fuck off lmao.

The large project I keep mentioning is actually about Mari's death! It's a short animatic... it's actually pretty close to completion, I'm just a little busy with life and other projects. Adulting sucks!

I will say SOMEONE was a real person at one point, but since that fateful night was around a decade ago, Mari can't exactly remember his face... just his eye, his last few words, and a loud bang. She was only nine, after all.
