Listen, Leo is a lot of things. One of which is incredibly observant. He notices everything about you, and one of the things that really fascinates him is how effortlessly you crochet. Even if to you it seems clumsy and awkward, or slow, or you feel like your crochet speed and skills aren't above average, to him it's fucking sorcery. I feel like he has a vague memory of his mom trying to pick up crochet when he was little but between looking after Leo and work and everything else she never really had the time to get into it much. But she still liked to dabble.

So seeing you crochet? Immediately comforting soothing relaxing. Sometimes when he really really can't sleep he just looks up complex crochet tutorials to fall asleep to. That kinda comfort.

Now regarding the whole big brain Leo x big brain Athena kid s/o????? agreed completely. "about what??" everything. I just love this pairing. I can't find who originally posted this (PLEASE send it to me if you find it, credits to op) but I read a hc once that Annabeth and Leo would be just like... competing to see who can get more degrees, and to see who can get their doctorate first. just fuckin collecting college degrees like pokemon. That Leo calls Annabeth at 3am from his professor's house after waking the poor guy up and forcing him to grade his last assignment (done outrageously early obvs) and when she's like "what do you want Valdez" he gets to go "that's doctor Valdez-" and Annabeth screams so loud she wakes up Percy. So if you're in college era already, you're well aware of the commit to the bit rivalry between your boyfriend and sister, and you've pulled a full Bella Swan from now on I'm Switzerland on them. you refuse to inform either side about the other and they both fully respect you for that.

before I get more sidetracked about folding Annabeth into this dynamic, you and Leo are so fucking cute on your own. You crochet him a cozy extra warm sweater with little flame designs and he actually cries. He's a cancer sun so don't be surprised if he gets a little misty when he watches you for too long and thinks about how much he loves you, or when you show him the little stuff you're working on for him because he just loves you so much and it's just so godsdamn touching. As for how your big ol brains work together???? fucking LOVE IT. Leo tends to view everything through terms of engineering and stem subjects (mostly physics and computer science but you best believe he knows his chemistry when he needs to) and you tend to view things in this gorgeous mosaic of random patchworked information and knowledge you've absorbed, and/or through your current hyperfixation. the rest of the demisquad get used to you and Leo simultaneously explaining the most complex shit by comparing it to an alpine stitch or an FoS ratio (somehow once you explain what an alpine stitch or FoS ratio is they both make sense). you're both so smart that you're constantly able to make him laugh. like really full on belly laugh scream laugh that only happens when you have amazing chemistry and are in love laugh. it's so funny bc to everyone else it sounds like you're having two completely separate conversations but you two just fuckin speak a language that makes sense. every time Leo is looking for another way to phrase what he's trying to say he uses some engineering analogy and you're like "oh yeah I gotchu" or if you can't thing of a word you're like "It's that thing where the majority outvote the other ones and do what they want anyway but it's technically legal???" and Leo's like "hostile takeover" and you're like YES FUCKIN THANK YOU IT'S LIKE A HOSTILE TAKOVER.

so yeah in summary he loves you so so much because he feels like you can keep up with him intellectually (and he hopes you feel the same) it's really refreshing to be able to just not have to change the way his thoughts are or manually translate them before they leave his mouth. he loves you so much. he hates having to wash all the sweaters and hats and scarves you make him (you been knew that your boy runs cold and have accounted for that) and he does in fact sleep with his Festus plushie overnight. he has no fucking clue how you got it to look metallic. he refuses to believe glitter/metallic yarn exist. he is fully convinced you're a yarn fairy.

"More," he says over the roaring blaze, his own voice unfeeling and yet more alive than he's ever felt.

He doesn't feel the least bit sorry. In the end, he is finally the monster they all made him out to be.

He's going to be the last one standing this time.
