hello everyone long time no see… i've been drawing secret stuff for myself and also just. going through it. lol. but since artfight starts today i figured i'd finally develop my basketball ocs (and give an update on "izaak"). rambling below
they play for the cape doris jays of cape doris state university, the fictional school my furry ocs go to (in the dorian furryverse college and pro sports are co-ed because it's more fun that way)
first up is ricky han, the korean-american butch at starting center. she plays 2 years for the jays before being drafted early in the first round to the charlotte hornets (mostly so she can wear a CLT jersey 🤭), and i made her when i started watching the grizzlies last year so she kinda just plays like zach edey. she's great friends with jaylin and they're still pretty good friends once they're on different teams in the nba. johnny views her as a rival, since they're both butch horses who frequent the same lesbian circles in cape doris, and johnny also hates that ricky actually achieved her hoop dreams (johnny wanted to make it to the nba when she was younger but she really struggles with offense). also fun fact she was my car's fursona before i decided to make her ball
next is jaylin mills, african-american straight guy at starting point guard. he plays a year for the jays before being drafted top 10 to the miami heat, quickly becoming a draft bust due to injury, and getting traded to the utah jazz as a salary dump in his sixth year. i accidentally based him on my beloved ja morant, just as fast but with a little less dunking and a little more injury-prone (if you could believe it). he is notably friends with "izaak"/ayesha ohtani, the cape doris state journal's sports column writer and (during her first three years of college) a closeted trans woman. more about her below
last is ona shilongo, motswana bisexual woman at starting shooting guard. she plays all four years of college before being drafted early in the second round by my memphis grizzlies (💙) and getting traded to the detroit pistons; she comes off the bench for them for a few years before becoming a journeyman player. she wears #3 because of allen iverson, plays like desmond bane, and acts like jaden mcdaniels. she's not super tight with her teammates and mostly keeps to herself, they'll dap each other up before games once they get to the nba but that's it
and finally we get to ayesha ohtani, who you may remember as "izaak". i had her hypothetically transitioning and have decided to make it canon. she has a deep, sexually tense friendship with jaylin throughout high school and their first year of college, then they drift apart once jaylin gets drafted. in jaylin's absence, ayesha transitions, graduates, and goes through the wringer getting into sports media before finally landing a job with the utah jazz… which jaylin gets traded to. ayesha has matured a LOT since they last saw each other while jaylin still acts like he's 19. still, they enter a fraught sexual relationship, it's brief and bad for everyone involved and i'm not sure how it resolves yet
My bestie made a tulkun OC after viewing Fire and Ash and ofc I fell in love with her immediately. The meal I was served:
a female tulkun named Ona (ona means she in Polish and its a homage to she/her because I will never be her)
around 50 years old, not really wise as for her age. Not seeking wisdom either
favourite pastime appears to be exchanging news and gossips with other female tulkuns her age
chases male tulkuns away
seems to like shiny things, lights, bioluminescent algae. Can be easily baited
NOT A QUIET TULKUN. Incredibly talkative and expressive, however, often made to remain quiet as she doesn't agree with most traditional views. Seeks Na'vi who are willing to listen to some gossip instead
has a fear of missing out. Constantly needs companionship or starts making noises
hates philosophy with burning passion. Why even bother with pointless, boring conversations that elders already sorted out long ago?

likes music, fashion and dancing. Which also means she is the first to criticise boring schemes if it comes to all mentioned
