K/S ... ▇▇▇ he wanted her. he's wanted her for too long now, and she knows this. right? - he hadn't been hiding the fact. he showed up at her apartment, he brought champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. he left his daughter at home, to go romance her. AND THEN SHE SAID NO, she was already married. he was too late, which was unfair. because he may have not met stella kidd first, but he'd dreamt of her for so long. he'd been wishing, wanting for someone like her. for someone to share his heart with. yes he had the shays at home, but that wasn't the same. leslie shay had becca dawson to share her life and thoughts with, to get that intimacy. the one kelly craved so badly that he kept on stumbling home with random women. not to his own place - not after he became a dad. that place was sacred. he also didn't meet anyone at molly's, because he wasn't looking for anything serious. he wanted stella. but she was married and didn't want him back.

but then she started at fifty one, and they became friends, or well. the closest you can be as friends when one part is in love and the other is - freshly divorced. now she was working a closing shift at molly's, and kelly happened to be there. again. just like he was whenever she was closing. he likes to make sure she gets home safe, that work is safe - that no gross customers hits on her. she can defend herself, but does she have to? when she looks like someone who's been fighting for herself all her life? is it so bad that he wants to be there for her? kelly plays with his beer, the same beer he's been nursing ever since he came in two hours ago. it's empty, and it was luke warm for the last bit of liquid too. but he didn't order another one, he was driving home. hopefully he'd drive her home too, but something had been bugging him all night. how didn't she know? and if she did, why did she never say anything? " how's your dating life? seeing anyone new? " please say no, GOD PLEASE SAY NO.

Buck Day Afternoon

“He baby-trapped you,” the man said with a misplaced confidence that was almost impressive, “that’s fucked up, man.”

Buck blinked. Then blinked again. Then, “Uh... no. No, that’s not—”

“Shut it, Benji, that’s not what happened,” the other robber scowled, no longer trying to pretend he wasn’t eavesdropping. “They’re both dudes. A dude can’t baby-trap another dude.”

“Of course they can. Equal rights and shit! That’s what the parades are for.”

There's a hostage situation at the bank and Buck is forced to reevaluate his relationship with Eddie (and vice versa).

ava moreno ( @oncalls ) : gets called out of her rookie year and is heading upstairs.

there's no smile on his lips when he walks downstairs ... ( save for the one he offers his wife at the front desk ) walking into roll call which hadn't started yet. not everyone was around. but the girl he was looking for was. ava had been here for three months, to the date. and olinsky had kept his eyes on her for the last nine - plenty of time, he waited long enough. not according to bradford - but alvin olinsky didn't obey orders from tim bradford. so he walks to the table of rookies. tamara colins, liam parker and ... "ava moreno?" he nods, looking at her like he's not sure - but he is. "you're not going on patrol today - go change into your civvies."

they didn't wear uniforms unless they were going undercover ... or someone died. let alone long sleeves. "you're going to intelligence, congratulations." and now he can't help it - his lips curve upwards in a small smile. but he doesn't miss how antonio's kind-of-step-son (?) is watching the exchange between al and ava. like he's dying for it to be him - or maybe he's dying to let her go. "if you could.. i'll give you a few to wrap things up. before roll call please."

lucy chen ( @oncalls ) ... gets a starter.

"wait ... we have grandkids now?" tim laughs, it's a soft and carefree laugh, one that tastes like hope and freedom, one filled with love that pours out along with the sound. "well, i would think we'd need to plan out the kids first, don't you? like how many? what age gaps are we going for? big sister tamara.." he smiles more with the last three words. tamara didn't have any blood relatives left she could count on - but she's had lucy for a few years now ... and now she had tim too. and everyone that came along in that family. ( of course there was diego too, and tim has a feeling he might be tamara's favorite ) but he'd love to make more family to love her.

"alright ... i'd like at least three little lucys, including the one we already have." even if tamara wasn't so little anymore. she looks like a mix of the two of them, people had said so ... and none of the three ever corrected them. tim remembers the first ice cream date he had with his girls - a woman had walked up to him and said, 'what a beautiful family you have' and tim? he nodded, because they are his family, and it's the best family there's ever been. the memory, one of his favorites, makes him lean over and kiss the top of her head. "and yes ... they're little lucys no matter the gender. i just want tiny yous running around us - teach them how to play sports, how to ride a bike, i want to ..." i want to hold them and love something so precious that's part me. but he doesn't dare say those words, yet his eyes try to communicate them with the tender look he gives her.

I just found some of my #inktober art from this year. This is #22, dedicated to how hard it is to work a long shift (especially a night shift) and be functional afterwards. I have had some... interesting times navigating public transport after gruelling shifts. one : when voight dies, olinsky is dealing with complicated feelings. he knows he was a cancer to their team. he knows what he was doing was hurting the people ( the unit ) that olinsky loves. but voight had been a friend to him. they'd done a lot of bad things together, at voight's suggestion and lead. but it trauma bonded the two of them. even if the things voight had him do were the things that drove him so far from himself ( and ended his marriage )

two : alvin has ptsd. it's an up and down battle with his own demons every day. some days better than others. it's a mix of what happened to him in the army: but also years on service at the pd. but especially from his time with voight. a thing that seems to be helping his ptsd is the way he leads the unit now. the laws they make for themselves. the family they've created. he gets to start fresh, and he gets to make sure that the people he take into the unit gets a better chance at healing than he did.

three : after his marriage ends with meredith, after years of alvin hiding in the family garage. he finds love again. a different kind of love. he marries trudy platt. but the love is different from young love - he doesn't love her any less, but he is more steady in his love. he doesn't hide from trudy - but they both respect each other's need for space and time alone ( after both of them having years where they were mostly alone ) which is why they work so well.

four : trudy was the first one alvin told about michelle when he found out. he needed her help. but he also knew she wouldn't judge him, and she didn't. she responded: 'we have another daughter?' which made him feel lighter. trudy took it better than al himself. it took him an adjustment period to get used to the idea of another daughter, not because he didn't want her, but he was terrified. so scared of lexi's reaction to not being his only one anymore. of lexi knowing he'd cheated on her mother. this was the most painful bit for him. the second one was knowing he hadn't been there for michelle while growing up, and he will do his absolute best to make up for that fact.

five : when voight died, alvin didn't hesitate to accept the offer of sergeant and leader of the intelligence unit. not necessarily because he was aching for a promotion. but because he didn't want his team in the wrong hands. he knows that most people wouldn't understand the way the group work together. they wouldn't understand why the pairings worked the way they do. and they wouldn't live up to the one thing they keep from the former leadership. the only thing alvin repeats to the people in intelligence. 'tell me the truth, and let me lie for you.' meaning he will always have their backs, and he will do anything to protect their lives, their people - their badges and purposes. he knows personally what intelligence means to them all.
