6)  When creating a character, do you come up with the visual concept or the written concept first? 

It depends! A bit of both, I’d say, though with a somewhat stronger trend towards coming up with the visual concept first. That’s especially true with my alien designs, I tend to draw those first and come up with biology and personality later.

7) Do you have characters that you know you’ll never use, but can’t bear to get rid of/recycle?

Oh, definitely. I mean, to a certain degree that’s actually true of almost all of my characters; I know myself, I highly doubt I’m ever going to actually write something finished or make a comic or anything. xD

But! Imperfect Science and Convergence station actually have something of a chance, whereas most of the characters from Abime Spire are just for fun. They’re carry-overs from my play-pretend games with a friend from when we were 5-15 years old. I love them and I enjoy refining their designs and using them in RPs or adapting them to D&D on occasion, but beyond that I don’t have any plans.

I also have random one-off characters whose concepts I enjoy but who I well and truly haven’t done anything with, heh. (For example Mark, Ithadel, Naerys and Argen, etc.)

8) Is there a character that embodies your good traits, or traits you wish you had?

Hmm. I’m… genuinely not sure, actually. I tend to give my characters my flaws and my goals more than anything else. By which I mean that for the most part I don’t make them what I wish to be, I have them strive to be what I wish to be–and encounter many of the same struggles that I face along the way. If that makes sense?

The major exception is my determination to cause as little harm as I can manage to the best of my abilities, I guess. I do tend to include that… pretty frequently, actually. Sometimes it’s a quiet, non-blatant character trait much like it is in myself, like with Gerou. And sometimes it’s a cornerstone of the character and something they struggle desperately to achieve, like with Linast. But again, I guess that’s more of ‘something they try (and often fail) to achieve’ rather than an actual trait…?

Also, Zzkt. I would definitely not mind being an eccentric nerdy twerp of a supportive uncle figure to future found family in a similar fashion as he is towards Askay. xD
