Hi Ada, happy WBW!! Are there any places or events in your world that are historically significant for the characters?
Thank you! Incredibly late response, but my policy is “better late than never”. So without further ado...
The fields of poppies in Prince Alastair’s homeland once bloomed in white. They are a special variety known as the peace poppy, favorite food of doves. But now, only red poppies grow there.
Growing up, Sycamore never left the phoenixes’ village. She finds it odd that she has vivid mental images of a different village, one she has never visited before. (At least, not in this life.)
Acacia discovered pizza at Daywalker’s Pizzeria. Best day of her life! Our undead friend also met a half-vampire there, so they can be nocturnal buddies.

Happy wbw! In your world, what is the standard of beauty? (Like what type of person or creature is seen as the most beautiful) What features are considered good luck? Why is this? Have a lovely Wednesday! 💖✨💖
Thank you Isabella! YOU are beautiful <3
All of the below beauty standards are for all genders, unless stated otherwise! For example, gentlemen and nonbinary people in Oneta customarily wear their hair long too.
Features Considered Beautiful
Oneta: Healthy weight, clean presentation, long hair, gentle voice
Twodor: Strong women (regardless of size), a sunny smile
Thrinton: Height, intense eyes, women who are more curvy
Forell: Gender-ambiguous presentation, brown or black eyes (seen as a blessing)
Fivana: Confident voice, colorfully dyed hair, tattoos
Sixney: Long hands and feet, prominent and memorable ears
Severin: Mysterious scar, dark brooding look, sharp and edgy
Eighnes: Small hands and feet, round face, soft arms
Ninon: Their beauty standards are based off the ones they love, who are the most beautiful in their eyes
Bonus: The Phoenixes believe colorful and vibrant feathers are a good omen

Happy STS! ✨ What has been your favourite area / land to worldbuild so far? Or which are you most proud of?
Thank you for the ask!
My Favorite Land
I always had a soft spot for Oneta, the Cradle of Antiquity. Ironically I created it as the capital marked by creepy silence. The people were overly formal, and their cultural norms encouraged an emotionally cold environment.
But... Oneta had much to teach me.
Slowly but surely, I realized I was wrong about Onetians. They didn’t change, but my views on them sure did.
“Creepy silence” became the silence of respectful listening. “Overly formal” grew to represent their clean, elegant style, showing they cared about presentation and how it might affect others around them.
And the “emotionally cold environment” was never there at all. Onetians are just as compassionate and loving as anyone else. Their culture might forbid them from expressing emotions openly, but there are other ways to communicate how they feel. Music, poetry, prose, small everyday gestures...
I fell in love with Oneta, but most of all, I fell in love with its people.

Happy WBW! :D What occupations are respected or looked down on?
Thank you for this ask!
Value of Jobs
In Oneta, healthcare workers are the most respected, especially if they deal with vulnerable patients (eg. hospice nurses). They hate to consider other jobs as lesser, but any selfish and inhumane employers are looked upon with disdain. If you mistreat others to line your own wallet, that is lowly.
Twodor’s culture places an emphasis on guardianship. This includes teachers and child caretakers, but also the guardswomen patrolling the village. Other physical labor is also viewed with respect. They consider a “paperwork job” lowly, including legal careers that would be well-respected in our world.
Long post, others under the cut!
Ooo I hope you’re doing well!! Are there any coming-of-age traditions in your world? Is there a specific age where one’s considered an adult?
Thank you for the ask! Hope you’re having a great day too.
In Sycamore’s culture, a phoenix’s first revival is considered a rite of passage. Before then, you would be considered a fledgling (youth) regardless of age.
Age of Adulthood
Oneta: 25
Twodor: 30
Thrinton: 18
Forell: 24
Fivana: 20
Sixney: 18
Severin: 18
Eighnes: 22
Ninon: 18

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! What inspires you when it comes to developing the history of your world? What historical event is talked about the most among your characters? Has history ever repeated itself, and was this for good or for bad?
Thank you for this ask!
Inspiration: When I develop Delra’s history, it generally comes in the form of explaining the present world. For example, Oneta and Thrinton have a rivalry. What started the animosity between them? Delving into their history helps me to develop these things.
Most discussed event: Four hundred years ago, almost all the nations of Delra were embroiled in a war over magic. This event shaped how the world is today, although all nations remember it differently.
History repeating itself: A long time ago, before the war, a phoenix and a human prince were best friends. Four centuries have passed. “A Phoenix’s Guide to Humans” starts with a phoenix saving the life of a human prince.

It's my favorite day of the week: WBW!!! I hope you're having a wonderful day! My questions this week: what are some common pastimes in your world? Are people more likely to collect cool things, or create their own? What kinds of games do young children play with eachother? And are there other, more "mature" games for adults? - magic-is-something-we-create
Thank you @magic-is-something-we-create for this ask!
Oneta: Word games and journals are popular. Older youths and adults are known to collect tea varieties.
Twodor: Children collect old spears and personalize them, carving their initials or painting colorful designs. Dueling and gardening are both common pasttimes.
Thrinton: Lots of people are into competitive gaming, both kids and adults. But some games are off-limits to kids! (Profanity, graphic violence, etc.)
Forell: Nobody truly outgrows games like hide-and-seek. Most adults regularly engage in these activities, and they take it very seriously.
Fivana: All forms of art are common pasttimes. Even children are encouraged to create their own art, even scribbling chalk on the driveway.
Sixney: It’s popular to have a small, personal collection of stolen trinkets. Kids like to pull malicious pranks on entitled people.
Severin: People often collect items related to their passion, such as tools or scraps. Children often play in the mud and make shapes.
Eighnes: Video games and cartoons are popular! Many people collect cartridges and discs for their favorites.
Ninon: Even children are expected to help out the family. Cleaning, gathering, tending the fire, etc. Some kids collect odd rocks or small bones in their spare time.
