          THERE  WAS  NO  RECOVERING  FROM  WHAT  HAPPENED  ,  no  real  recovery  anyway  .  how  could  anyone  bounce  back  from  witnessing  your  wife  being  fed  on  by  some  monster  ?  even  though  he  came  to  mystic  falls  for  answers  that  night  posed  ,  he  never  thought  he  would  actually  see  her  again  .  alaric  had  done  enough  research  to  come  to  the  conclusion  that  the  mix  of  vampire  blood  &  missing  body  led  to  one  conclusion  ,  seeing  her  again  in  the  flesh  sent  all  his  theories  to  hell  .  she  wasn’t  a  vicious  creature  like  the  one  that  turned  her  ,  she  was  isobel  .  the  woman  he’d  fallen  so  hard  for  all  those  years  ago  ,  the  woman  who  he  never  fully  got  to  grieve  over  was  standing  across  the  way  as  if  no  time  had  passed  at  all  .  though  time  had  passed  and  he  was  a  different  man  ,  one  who  was  driven  to  destroy  the  thing  she’d  become  to  prevent  anyone  from  feeling  the  same  loss  he  had  .  regardless  of  any  anger  he’d  felt  prior  due  to  her  turning  or  sadness  from  the  void  her  absence  created  ,  all  alaric  could  think  about  in  that  moment  was  being  near  her  .  it  didn’t  matter  the  capacity  ,  not  really  .  she  was  his  wife  ,  legally  at  least  ,  and  there  was  no  getting  past  this  moment  .  his  movements  were  swift  as  he  shifted  toward  her  ,  heart  pounding  loudly  in  his  chest  .    “  isobel  ?  ”
