The Animatrix: Beyond (2003)
Animatrix (2003) || The Amazing Digital Circus (2026)
animatrix, "the second renaissance part i-ii (mahiro maeda, 2003), "program" (yoshiaki kawajiri, 2003), "kid's story" (shinichiro watanabe, 2003), "final flight of the osiris" (andy jones, 2003)
I'm in love with Takeshi Koike's style after watching the Animatrix's World Record, over and over and over and OVER!
So, I wanted to try something similar to his design. The over exaggeration on perspective and body shapes, the pure black shade, the contour lines, and the idea of Piccolo's abs being extra noticeable! (Seriously, you can grind meat those muscles! 😁)
Anyway, this an attempt of drawing Piccolo in Koike's style.
Had to block a bitch on letterbox whom I have never interacted with before in my life because her review on animatrix pissed me off so bad
I keep thinking about the Matrix as a trans allegory, and this scene from the Animatrix always hauts me. This machine is protesting in the "million machine march" for the right to be treated with dignity and the very recognition of her humanity. In response, she is viciously assaulted and murdered, called a "skinjob" for daring to look like a woman. Her last words as she is being maimed are
"I'm real!"
