If by chance you miss me again, come back to me
a/n: I've always wanted to write another ongyu story but just got caught in a a lot of work. When I watched Sunggyu's Kontrol MV, thought that it was fitting for a story. I was intrigued with the lyrics of the song because when I first heard it, Ionly understand_ dorawajweo and haru haru_ which basically meant come back and every day. I got a plot in mind featuring onew confronting gyu about the song and was super excited to write it down.
But then a day later, SHINee's comback was announced and boom, I got to solidify this plot. Okay, I got so excited for this story so I hope I could write it with some justice.
This is also inspired by The Answer because the two seemed to be connected in terms of lyrics and theme~
Sunggyu was contemplating on the lyrics of his song. It was something personal, the album was all personal to him because beneath the layers of idolism, it was an album that discloses his heart and soul. He was an idol for so many years now but apart from that, he is also a human being with struggles of his own that he'll only reveal this once.
He was successful now but not when he just started and had to give up everything to achieve it. And that was why he was contemplating on the songs to put on his albm. 27 is an album full of what is to be expected from him, his coming of age sort of thing, but above all, a plea to one person that mattered to him in more ways than one.
As he sang each song during the recording, the staffs were all at awe at how his voice rendered such painful emotion that was requested of him. He smiled and thanked them, not telling how he did it because he won't be shedding some light anytime soon. But he was left alone and the recording played in his ipod, he wanted to cry at how the song was a mirror of what he felt inside, of waiting and wanting someone unreachable. But who knew about this? None but him alone.
When it was time to promote the song, he was nervous not because he'll come head to head with legends BoA and Big Bang but because he was going to meet him, the person he longed to have for the longest time yet couldn't. He stare at his hands, not sure why he had decided to go with songs that revealed so much of himself over some pop songs that would be as catchy as hell. But the thought of letting him know how he felt, that was enough to pull him out of his regretful self and into a hopeful one.
“Can I talk to Sunggyu-ssi?” He heard the all too familiar voice and he looked at the door where a familiar face was talking to his manager.
“yeah, come in Onew-ssi.” his manager repleid and soon, he was standing up and bowing to the SHINee leader who was all good looking with the shade of pink tinted hair and his well fitted stage costume.
“Can we talk, privately?” Onew asked and Sunggyu nodded, asking permission from his manager and the two left the busy room.
They walked past the dressing rooms and towards the fire exit where it was a little less crowded and they were sure no one would eavesdrop on them.
They were known to be awkward with each other but the reason behind it was not yet knwn to this date. Sunggyu looked a little terrified with this confrontation, but he had expected it once he released the album. He knew perfectly why Onew wanted to talk to him and he knew that it was long overdue, but at least they can do it now rather than never.
Sunggyu looked up to meet the leader's eyes and his heart clenched painfully at what he saw, Onew. He knew it was a bit of a hopeful wish to bring back the days that was lost but it was free and it made him smile a bit. Onew was stern looking, not really what Sunggyu would hope for but this was better than nothing, and he'll hold on to this moment no matter how it end up.
“Your songs.. your album..” Onew started and Usnggyu swallowed the lump on his throat.
“crap I know.” Sunggyu tried to sound witty, funny, anything but a sappy mess.
Onew narrowed his eyes, it was something he didn't expect from the Infinite leader who looked confident everytime he perform on stage.
“That's not what I was going to say nor expected to hear from you. You take pride in whatever music you make.” Onew repleid and Sunggyu mocked laugh at it.
“funny to hear it from you.” Sunggyu replied and that may have hurt Onew, but Sunggyu could care less.
“It's about me isn't it?” Onew asked and Sunggyu could feel the softness in the leader's voice and when he ooked into his eyes, he just knew that he couldn't lie about it.
…
“Leave!” Sunggyu shouted, agry at the teen infront of him.
“I'm sorry!” Jinki uttered, trying to soothe the pains of his friend.
“You promised me that we will go together! You promised!” Sunggyu shouted and threw the first thing he could get his hands on, the unfortunate fishbowl that held some glow sticks and the plastic ball with a plastic house inside.
“I wanted to fulfill it Gyu but..” Jinki uttered, desperate to calm the friend down.
“But you didn't!” Sunggyu was beyond mad, he was hysterical. “I don't want to see you ever again!” Sunggyu shouted and pushed Jinki out of their so called hide out, a place in Seoul where they met and had bonded, in search to pursue their dreams of being singers.
They were strangers, from different parts of Korea, Jinki hailed from Gwangmyeong while Sunggyu was from Jeonju but had found friendship in the busy streets of Seoul. They had the same dreams , same age, same everything and they became what they were today due to it. But when Jinki landed an audition with Lee Sooman nonetheless, Sunggyu was jealous and mad, because they had promised to go together, that they'll be band mates, bff.
But Jinki broke that promise, and he did what he felt was the only thing to do, push him away. He was of course jealous at one point, but he alsoknew Jinki would refuse the offer if Sunggyu hadn't pushed him away, SM entertainment was huge and with Jinki's natural charm and vocal capability, his friend was in good hands.
Jinki signed the contract with SM entertainment the next day and Sunggyu was hay to hear that, yet he was also hurt at his actions, because he knew, Jinki had this huge place in his heart, and the moments they shared together as dreamers meant so much more to him than what he could confirm to himself.
He grew fond of Jinki, his smiles were the best thing he saw in this life and that alone made him fall, neck deep, with him. But he couldn't hinder Jinki and so he pushed him away, telling himself that he'll follow soon.
He eventually auditioned for SM entertainment, hoping that he'll be able to meet Jinki again, praying that he'll finally be reunited with his friend, and maybe move on to something much deeper. But twice he tried, twice he was rejected. He could go for a third try but when he saw Jinki with a guy shorter than him, muscular and handsome, he gave up; Jinki was better off without him.
“Sunggyu!” He heard a familiar voice but he didn't dare to stop and look. He walked away as fast as he could and just forgot the pounding heart that longed for the teen with the brightest smile.
…
“Don't assume things Onew.” Sunggyu replied and Onew sighed as he shook his head.
“It's wishful thinking..” Onew replied, trying to rue away the tears that were forming on the side of his eyes.
Sunggyu laughed at that. “What were you even wishing for? You have everything.” Sunggyu hissed and it made Onew frown a little to deeply for comfort.
…
“Woohyun!” Key called out to the friend who just finished their debut stage. “Guys, meet my riend Woohyun, and he's in the group Infinite.” Key chirped at his members and the new boy group gathered and bowed to their sunbae.
They introduced themselves and Onew eyed the so-called leader, he knew who he is and so many things ran through his brain. He shook hands and acted politely, keeping in mind his image as a leader of the shining group.
“Congratulations on your debut, workhard.” Onew told them, flashing that infamous noona killer smile and the new group thanked him genuinely.
It was a hectic year for SHINee and with Japan dbut and ocncert tours, he momentarily forgot the new group, the friend who pushed him away and now the leader of Infinite. He couldn't fathom why he couldn't be his friend, Sunggyu was always so dear to him that no one in SHINee could replace him in his heart; because he sees SHINee as his brothers but Sunggyu as someone worth giving up everything for. And he could, if Sunggyu had not pushed him away, he wouldn't accept the contract.
But that was long gone and he just wanted to be friends with him again, but it was so awkward nad frustrating.
While they were making waves in Japan, Infinite had been steadily cimbing up the charts and soon broke the chains that hindered them. Onew was happy, he genuinely was, because he knew that this was Sunggyu's dream, and he would love to see his friend's star shine bright along side his. But more than that, he would love to see Sunggyu forgive him and accept him back as a friend.
He wasn't really wishing for stars and the moon, he just wanted Sunggyu back; because by now, he couldn't deny the fact that he likes the leader more than a friend.
…
“I had everything but the thing I had wanted.” Onew replied and then took a deep breath.
There was an awkward silence that surrounded them, and both were unsure of how to break it or they could just leave it as is. Sunggyu looked at Onew again, gulity eyes scanning the disappointed ones of the SHINee leader. He couldn't fathom why Onew wanted to bring up the past but deep down he knew why, but just couldn't bear to accept tha fact; because he was afraid to know the truth.
“If I tell you that the songs are about you, would you come back?” Sunggyu asked, choking on the last words.
Onew looked at him in the eye, a glint of hope and a small smile on his lips. “I would Sunggyu, I would.” Onew replied and Sunggyu let out the tears that he had hold back.
“Jinki-yah, I missed you.” Sunggyu broke down and Onew instantly wrapped his arms around Sunggyu and held him close to his body. “I missed you badly, please come back to me.I want you back” Sunggyu uttered as Onew ran his hands on Sunggyu's hair and rub comforting circles on his back.
Onew was overwhelmed with the confession, something he had wanted to hear since forever. “I missed you too Gyu.” Onew replied, his voice cracked as he let his tears fell from his eyes, smudging the eyeliner his stylist had meticulously lined his eyes with. But who cared for make up when Sunggyu was in his amrs, crying and bearing his heart to him.
“I love you Jinki.” Sunggyu uttered so suddenly that Onew froze, not knowing how to respond to the words. Sunggyu closed his eyes as he prepared for the rejection, clinging tightly on Onew as he braced himself for the reply.
Onew was shell shocked when he heard the words but he slowly smiled and tightened his arms around the leader. He was happy, he was more than glad to hear it because he felt the same way for his friend, he loved him.
“I love you too Gyu.” He muttered his reply and kissed the top of the leader's head. Sunggyu pushed himself off of Onew and stared deep in his eyes. He noticed that they were both crying and it was all too cheesy like a TV drama but it was their moment, despite being sappy and cliched, it was theirs to share.
And they both leaned in to capture eac other's lips, smiling and laughing afterwards, knowing that they had just returned to the day they met, of the happy times when they were both so innocent and eager, and dreamers of a non existent future.
“I am back Gyu, and I need you too.” Onew uttered, smiling wide as he held the leader's hand.
Sunggyu nodded, knowing that his song had did its part, and screw the awards, Jinki was the best he could receive in his entire lifetime.
“no yo yamanhae taourun nae shimhangun anumyon andwae nae jilmune daedabun.” Sunggyu sang and Onew smiled wide at him. He kissed him again, this time more passionately than before.
“you are still a helpless romantic.” Onew replied and intertwined their fingers before he led them out of the fire exit and going back to Sunggyu's dressing room. “I'll see you soon.” onew uttered and pecked his lips one last time before he walked towards his own dressing room a few doors away.
Sunggyu couldn't help but smile at the friend's antics. He was grinning when he returned to his dressing room where his manager has already asked his stylist to fix his smudged make up.
“If you don't look desperate later, I'll personally ask Manager Jin to break the two of you.” Hyoan uttered and Sunggyu lightly punched him on the arm and sat on the chair for his stylist to retouch his makeup.
Onew was smiling wide as he entered the dressign room but his manager wasn't. He called out one of the stylist and had to work on Onew's smudged face. But Manager Jin was grinning wide, knowing that finally, his maknae of a leader has decided to take a step for love's sake.
“Sunggyu is up in ten minutes, want to watch?” Manager Jin uttered and Onew smiled widelt at that. 'Welcome back Jinki.” He added and Onew smiled even wider.
They ended up watching Sunggyu perform one of the two songs and Jinki was grinning widely and acting like a teenage girl in love as he watched his beloved Gyu perform his heart out. But he resisted the girlish scream when he locked eyes with the leader during a part of the chorus and spoke through him. When Sunggyu was done with his set, he walked off the stage and met the SHINee leader. He bowed and politely asked for his opinion. Jinki was all smiles as he raised his two thumbs up.
“Kissing later, you both have stages coming up.' Manager Jin uttered and the two laughed and nodded.
“But you can hold hands.” Manager Hyoan added and the two quickly interlaced their hands and went back to Sunggyu's dressing room.
“Please stay.” Sunggyu muttered while blushing and Jinki couldn't resist the offer, nodding immediately.

Typical (AFF Infinite Secret Santa 2013 Repost)
OT7, Woogyu, Myungyeol, Yadong Prompt: HighSchoolAU in where everybody has their own fields of expertise and is famous but doesn't know about the other (in their pairing)... or something like that
This was written for the Infinite Secret Santa 2013 spearheaded by Starlightspirit
This is for my Santee mayazero
You can find the original post HERE
It was a typical (and perhaps boring) high school where the students were divided into 3 classifications: the kingka’s and Queenka’s, the normal bunch and the brainy nerds and geeks. Nothing too unusual about the scene, where bullying has been very normal and the kids were probably too used to it to even complain.
A student’s status was usually dictated upon stepping foot in the campus; where the popular kids decide if you belong to either one of the classification. For some, to be part of the normal bunch would be good, to be part of the popular kids would be nice and to be part of the nerdy bunch would be cruel. The line that demarcated high school has been there since the beginning of time, dating back to the Sung Kyung Kwan era that only the best can enter the best; only the rich can mingle with the rich. True to its sense, any high school was just like that, demarcated and classified. But just like in any typical story, somehow, the lines bend and break. For a kid who grew up with a step father and two step brothers, he learned to keep himself invincible. Not that his stepfather was cruel or anything, he’s just not into his siblings. Sure the taller brother would be sweet and all, but the maknae was sure a pain in butt. His name was Kim Sunggyu, and he was one of the nerds at school (but a nerd girls drool at). His father died when he was a year old, died fighting for his mother land, and forced his mother to remarry to keep him alive. He had two half brothers, a tall choding looking lad by the name Lee Sungyeol and a brat named Lee Sungjong. He loved his brothers, and it was a genuine brotherly kind but Sungjong wasn’t the ecstatic type. He looked at Sunggyu with disgust but loved their mom with all his heart. Sunggyu just sighed as he took in the younger’s words: ‘You are not my brother, we are not even related.’ In their own home, the demarcation was visible: Sungjong was a Kingka, Sungyeol belongs to the normal group while Sunggyu just associated himself with the nerds. He was okay with it (not that he wanted it), because he had a less stressful life all in all with this set up. …. Seated on one of the school benches, Sunggyu was reading his notes when a boy his age sat beside him. He did not spare him a glance because he knew who the person was. “Hey Gyu, anything new?” the lad spoke and he shook his head.
“So Onew what’s the news then?” Sunggyu replied and the boy adjusted his spectacles and smiled at him.
“Christmas Theater, everyone’s excited to watch the popular kids perform.” Onew said, taking out his text book and read away.
“Yeah everyone but me.” Sunggyu replied as he returned to his notes. “… And me.” Onew added. A Christmas theater? Typical right? It’s an annual event given by the glee and music club to showcase their members’ talents. It’s actually fun to watch if you remove the loud screaming fangirls. Year after year, the presentation gets bigger and better, adding in vocalists, dancers and actors that were just as good as their claims. Myungsoo was one of those members whose talent in acting was to be showcased. A kingka for his looks and piercing stare, Myungsoo had always been popular with the ladies. He walked inside the school auditorium and smiled at their director before sitting next to the other casts. A head count was made; the four Kingka’s were present for the rehearsal. Aside from the actor Myungsoo, the balladeer Woohyun, dancer Howon and the self proclaimed Diva Sungjong was present. The director called out a member of the audience and introduced him as Jonghyun, a talented lyricist from class 2, same class as Woohyun. “Jonghyun’s made the lyrics for our Christmas Theater and it’s just fantastic.” The director exclaimed which made the four Kingka’s roll their eyes. It’s true though, Woohyun loved Jonghyun’s lyrics and wished he could also write something decent; and he did ended up writing a lyric but it was cheesy and greasy unlike Jonghyun’s passionate and heartfelt ones.
The director then introduced Key, their stylist. His hair was dyed blonde with streaks of pink and blue; he stared at the four kingka’s then sighed. “They’re boring.” Key dismissed, earning a scowl from Sungjong.
“How dare you call me boring?” Sungjong shouted and Key glared at him.
“Well, why don’t you look at the mirror so you can answer your own question?” Key replied then walked away, gathering a handful of the Art Society to start their planning. Sungjong was ready to sock the stylists but Howon stopped him.
The last person the director introduced was a guy name Minho, who would be working on the promotions for the said event. The Minho guy was tall and very handsome. With a camera at hand and a smile on his face, he was a picture of perfection. Myungsoo eyed the boy, checking his posture and how he carried himself. He smiled approvingly then let his mouth fall into a thin line; he shouldn’t be jealous right? They had their work cut out for them, something that kept them pre-occupied for the rest of their afternoons. The performers were rehearsing, the costume designers continuously sewing while the props department was painting cardboard and wood endlessly. By the end of the first month, the first write up was posted and everyone got so excited for the upcoming show. --- “You coming hyung?” Sungyeol asked as he walked beside his older brother.
“Nope, Sungjong would kill me if he saw me there.” Sunggyu replied and Sungyeol sighed heavily.
“Why do you tolerate that brat?” Sungyeol asked and Sunggyu looked at him with a serious face.
“Because I’m a thorn in his perfect family.” Sunggyu replied bitterly and Sungyeol has to hug him tight.
“Don’t regard yourself as that hyung, you are my brother and am very happy to have you.” Sungyeol uttered as he tightened his arm around the older.
“Thanks Yeol.” Sunggyu muttered as he embraced the younger back. It was another typical day at school (and all the kids were excitedly waiting for the bell to ring) when two heads popped in front of the seniors’ room. The girls squealed and screamed at the sight of their school’s singing heartthrobs Jonghyun and Woohyun (also fondly called as JongWoo by their fan girls) stepping inside and singing for them. “We would like to invite everyone to the Music Club’s Pre-Christmas song fest.” Jonghyun said with a bright puppy grin. “It’s a free for all concert this coming Friday so we hope to see everyone!” Woohyun continued then threw hearts for everyone.
“Hey you coming?” Onew asked Sunggyu who looked at the friend then shook his head.
“Not into socializing Onew and I’d rather not go with you and humiliate myself when your sangtae attacks.” Sunggyu replied and Onew gave him a bright smile.
“Yeah you’re probably right. I have plans for Friday anyway.” Onew replied, going back to his text book without glancing at the two males in front. Sunggyu too returned to his notebook and wrote something, disregarding the two younger males that were burning holes on their heads like a sniper’s red dot.
“Those two…” Jonghyun started “..Didn’t even spare us a glance.” Woohyun continued. “Nerds... No social life at all. They’re boring as hell.” Jonghyun said then walked a bit faster towards the next room. So Friday came and Onew found himself seated on the bench he usually hangs out only to find the place loud and wild; apparently the music club wanted a mini concert outside rather than inside the cramp auditorium. Onew sighed just in time for Sunggyu to sit beside him. “And I thought you had plans.” Sunggyu asked and Onew nodded.
“I was planning on enjoying a quiet afternoon alone.” Onew answered him and Sunggyu smiled a small and apologetic smile. “Well shall we ditch this place then?” Sunggyu asked and Onew nodded, grabbing his bag and joining the friend to where the only sound they could hear was the deafening silence. Just as they stood to leave, they bumped into someone and they both landed on their behinds and then hands were extended to help them up. As soon as they were face to face, both Onew and Sunggyu gasped. ‘Oh how nice to see you both here.” Woohyun chirped, grease spilling from his mouth.
“We were about to leave.” Onew replied as he grabbed Sunggyu’s wrist to pull him away.
“Please stay, it’s about to start.” Jonghyun insisted, grabbing Onew’s wrist instead and dragging him near the stage. Woohyun gave Sunggyu a greasy grin then asked him to follow the two. The mini concert was actually enjoyable by Sunggyu and Onew’s standards; the members were really talented so to speak. Then it came to one of the highlights of the concert, Jonghyun and Woohyun’s performance. The duo informed the crowd that they wrote a song and they both gave the title Beautiful. The girls screamed crazily and both Sunggyu and Onew covered their ears. As the music played, both Jonghyun and Woohyun walked towards Sunggyu and Onew, took them to the stage as they sang their mash up of Beautiful. It was really awkward though, Sunggyu wasn’t sure if he’d like this or not while Onew was just going with the flow and letting Jonghyun serenade him like a desperate lover. As Jonghyun was singing, Woohyun leaned towards Sunggyu and whispered into his ears. “You’re beautiful, you know that?” He then smiled wide before singing his lines. Sunggyu was blushing mad, him beautiful? Maybe Woohyun was just playing with him. He wanted to kick the singer off the stage and pound him with the microphone but Sunggyu decided against it, he’s not the violent type anyway. When the song was done, Onew and Sunggyu were about to get off of the stage just as Onew’s Sangtae kicked in. He tripped on thin air and landed on Jonghyun while the younger fell backwards toppling Woohyun and ended in Woohyun falling on top of Sunggyu, and their lips were touching. Sunggyu’s eyes widened to its maximum size as he pushed the singer off of him. He was blushing mad, more on raging with anger. “Yah what was that?” Sunggyu wiped his lips with the back of his hand and quickly stormed off the stage. Onew apologized to the two and ran after the friend, almost falling off the short flight of stage steps and effectively making Jonghyun experience a mild heart attack. The two then continued with the concert like nothing happened. Typical performers. Another typical rehearsal but this time Woohyun was in the center of a flabbergasted Sungjong, a confused Myungsoo, a grinning Howon, a bored Key and an apologetic Jonghyun. “Of all the people in our campus, you have to freaking kiss a nerd.” Sungjong exclaimed and Woohyun didn’t like the sound of it. “Look Woohyun, I Know you tend to hit on almost everyone but doing it for the show is freaking low.” Key said and Woohyun was about to speak when Jonghyun apologized to him. “It was an accident people, Jonghyun fell into me and it’s like a domino effect!” Woohyun exaggerated a bit. “But you liked it.” Howon teased and Woohyun was flustered. “What the hell Lee Howon.” Woohyun chased the kingka around the stage.
“excuse me, I’m looking for my brother.” A voice echoed inside the auditorium and the Kingkas saw an innocent face with a bright smile talked to their director. Jonghyun gulped nervously as he stared at the man. He then walked towards the stage and smiled at the Kingkas. “I’m looking for my brother Lee Taemin.” He asked and at the mention of his name, the bubbly kid came rushing towards the older brother. “I need to bring him home earlier; we have a family event to attend to. And oh, I’m very sorry Woohyun-ssi.” He bowed a perfect 90 degrees and left with Taemin. “I’ll finish the backdrop tomorrow Key hyung!” Taemin waved and Key was beaming when he waved back. “Good Kid, unlike these rascals” Key said then returned to his group to supervise them.
“Hey hyung, frozen?” Myungsoo poked Jonghyun’s arms but the older was in fact frozen as statue, with mouth wide open. Minho took a photograph of this; the flashing lights brought the life back into Jonghyun.
“Yeah, derp shot.” Minho commented and realizing the embarrassment the photo can garner, Jonghyun chased after the photographer. ---- Late into the night, Howon was frustrated with his solo dance. The choreography and song was dead on but there seemed to be something lacking. He sat on the theater stage and took in deep breaths to even out his breathing. He was listening to the playing music when he heard shuffling sounds backstage. He got up from his spot and walked backstage, his eyes scanning the empty room. Then a lad with headphones on came into view, busting a few moves here and there. He analyzed the teen, from his casual shirt to the tattered pants and his equally dirty rubber shoes. One of his hands was holding a paint brush while a small paint can on the other, as he twirled before painting one of the snowflakes with pristine white paint. The lad continued to move his legs and arms and Howon realized what the boy was dancing too. With a smile on his face, Howon approached the lad and tapped on his shoulder. The boy got a shock and spilled the small can of paint onto Howon’s purple shirt, the lad apologized immediately. “uhm, what’s your name?” Howon asked and the boy introduced himself as Dongwoo. He then took out a shirt and handed it to Howon. “I’m really sorry, but you frightened me.” Dongwoo confessed as he cleaned up the spilt paint on the floor (thank God he lined it with newspaper beforehand). “Why are you still here?” Howon asked.
“Key wanted the paint dry by tomorrow.” Dongwoo said as he finished taking the paper from the floor and throwing it inside the huge bin.
“Just wondering, you like to dance?” Howon asked which surprised Dongwoo.
“Why’d you ask?” Dongwoo returned the question.
“I have this sick idea of maybe having a dance duet.” Howon asked and Dongwoo looked at him questioningly, brows furrowed and lips pursed. It took a good minute before Dongwoo smiled and said yes, Howon was beaming with gladness. Cue music and their feet started to move on their own. Howon was sparing his newly found partner a glance when a smile crept on to his face; this was much better even though the choreography never changed. --- Myungsoo was an actor, that was a given but not a lot knew of his passion for photography. “Well, glad to see you back.” Minho greeted him, camera at hand and a wide smile on his face.
“I figured I need to sharpen my skills a bit.” Myungsoo said, adjusting the lens of his DSLR and taking a test shot of the vast school garden in front of him.
“Well, I won’t bother you. Have fun Myungsoo.” Minho bade him farewell and Myungsoo courteously nodded. He did a few more adjustments and test shots before he got the settings done. He then wandered around, taking stills of nature and other interesting stuff; of people and serious face, of natural beauties without the thick layer of makeup. He walked towards one of the empty rooms where he decided to take an aerial point of view of the school grounds.
As he cautiously entered the room, a student was busy practicing his lines for a class role play. He listened as the student delivered the lines stiffly, how the face was emotionless and how the poor boy whined when he forgot a line or two. Myungsoo took the opportunity to take pictures of the boy, a very genuine face registered in every shot.
“Internalize the scene and keep that in your mind.” Myungsoo said out loud as he walked closer to where the boy was practicing.
“Excuse me?” The boy asked.
“I’m helping you out because you are a pathetic actor. Just breathe and internalize the scene.” Myungsoo said as he reached the place and grabbed the short script from the boy. He read it in haste and faced the boy with dark expression. “You thought I like you? You thought I could leave everything for you?” Myungsoo said, eyeing Sungyeol with those dark orbs. “You thought it wrong. I would never like you…” Myungsoo moved closer towards the boy. “Because I…” He inched a bit closer for comfort, lips near the boy’s neck. “I love you.” Myungsoo said then quickly went away from the boy, smiling at him sweetly. “That’s how you deliver these lines.” Myungsoo said and the boy nodded, trying to calm his beating heart and control the redness of his cheeks. “I’m Myungsoo by the way.” Myungsoo extended a hand and the boy shook it.
“Sungyeol.” he responded. “Aren’t you Sungjong’s brother?” Myungsoo asked and the taller nodded. “Why aren’t you a kingka?” He asked and Sungyeol shrugged his shoulders.
“Not my cup of tea. I’d rather be normal and be trouble free. Thanks for the tip by the way.” Sungyeol said and smiled. “Sure, why don’t you try acting it out?’ Myungsoo suggested and the two ended up practicing the short skit to perfection. --- D-day was almost there, the actors, singers and dancers were nervous, to the point that Jonghyun got injured and Woohyun has to find a quick replacement one week before the presentation. He was frustrated but can he blame a stupid puppy for saving his accident prone boyfriend? Woohyun ruffled his hair out of frustration and kicked the table in front of him, damn his life is over. He decided to just give jonghyun his rest permanently when he heard a beautiful melody from the piano room. He took a peek and a beautiful face with a soulful voice was playing a song he’s quite familiar with. He silently went inside and listened to the man singing with passion; when it ended, he applauded which startled the man. “Hey, you have a great voice Sunggyu-ssi.” Woohyun said and Sunggyu blushed, from the compliment and from the person who gave it. “It’s not something I brag about.” Sunggyu said as he gathered his things and tried to go out of the room immediately. “Please sing with me.” Woohyun said, almost pleading desperately. Sunggyu bit his lip and sighed before nodding, can he pass a teary eyed grease ball? Sunggyu found himself face to face with Sungjong who was utterly displeased with the addition of his secret brother. “He can’t sing.” Sungjong deadpanned but Woohyun shook his head and convinced the rest that he could definitely sing. Woohyun urged the older to sing a few notes but Sunggyu became stiff. Woohyun intertwined his fingers with the older and smiled sweetly. He then started to sing and with a cue from Woohyun, joined in to showcase his vocal strength. The song they sang gave everyone a bubbly and light feeling; smiles were permanently plastered on their faces. Onew managed to hug the friend after the performance, tagging along his injured boyfriend. “Sunggyu, you were absolutely fantastic.” Onew remarked and they heard a cough from the puppy in an arm sling. “Sunggyu’s a friend, you’re my boyfriend. Why are you jealous?” Onew asked and Jonghyun shut his mouth and just smiled.
“Okay, this is grossing me out. Myungsoo is dating Sungyeol hyung, Howon hyung is dancing his way to Dongwoo hyung’s heart, Jonghyun hyung is Onew hyung’s knight in shining armor while Woohyun hyung is hitting on my half brother, who else?” Sungjong blurted out and gasps were heard. “What?” Sungjong shouted and upon realizing what he said, he covered his mouth.
Sunggyu let go of Woohyun’s hand and walked to Sungjong, placing his arms around the younger and embracing him tightly. “It’s the first time you acknowledged me as your half brother.” Sunggyu was almost in tears. Sungjong loosened a bit, wrapping his arm around the older.
“I’m jealous okay; you don’t know how much I envied you for being perfect.” Sungjong muttered as he buried his face on Sunggyu’s chest. Sungjong then laughed as he wiped the tears away. “You better kick Woohyun’s butt when he cheats on you or else I’ll do it.” Sungjong told Sunggyu who nodded.
“You bet I will.” Sunggyu replied. And that’s a typical high school story with a typical storyline and equally typical ending.
A/N: It was a very broad topic and I had hard time writing about it. Anyway I added SHINee here just to make the feel more high school-esque (and the fact that I adore ShinFinite). I hope my santee would like this, if not then I apologize~ (I really am an angst writer more than anything else).

StarlightSpirit:
Even if you're an angst writer, this was cute and fluffy and I love that it was romantic but not overly cheesy (I love cheese, but subtle is good too!) Great job, author :3

"Oh May Gawd! I love it! It was soo cliche (I secretly love that XD) although the pacing was a little bit fast but still *^^* I loved it! Thanks to my Secret Santa! XD"
Exchange - Onew POV
OnGyu crack PG-15 What if they exchange roles for a while?
Sunggyu POV
I’ve noticed how the group was very distant from others; how one member fidget at the sight of the huge gathering of idols. Sure he was leader, but I feel that somehow, he’s just like me: a bit shy and scared.
It’s no secret that SHINee has some gay members; it’ll be surprising if no one noticed this just yet. But sadly, an odd numbered group would always end up with 1 single amongst the couples; and yes the sad part was that I was the single one.
I am gay; yes I admit that but don’t blame me for falling for that hamster guy with slits for eyes. He’s just so freaking adorable that I wanted to do illogical things to him (and I am completely talking without my sangtae mind you). To me, he’s like a ball of fluffy fur much like Theodore from Alvin and the chipmunks.
“just get him for Christ’s sake.” Key nagged me for the end time as I walked out of the bathroom with puffy eyes.
“What?” I asked and he rolled his eyes.
“Are you even sane? You cry over fanfictions and that totally killed my moment with Jonghyun. He’s pretty concerned about you.” Key nagged even more as he lined his eyes with the dark kohl.
“I’m sorry, it’s just too sad that I barely get ..” and Key cut my sentence short.
“a decent fanfiction with him, just what the fuck do you think the writers have to work? You cling to me, jonghyun, teamin and Minho. They will bound to write our pairings just as much as he clings to Woohyun, myungsoo or Soyou. At least you get a few Le Joon or Luna.” He finished and great, I can feel the tears brimming.
“Great, you are supposed to be our leader. God, Onew-hyung get a hold of yourself! You should have a crash course for leadership skills training or something.” Key said as he finished lining his eyes and went out of the bathroom to get his coat.
“oh that’s a great idea.” I dashed towards my room, grabbed my phone and dialed our manager’s number.
“Are you sure about this?” Manager Jin asked and I nodded furiously. “I’ll give Jungryoul a call.” Manager Jin said and I was so delighted; I should thank myself for being such a good kid.
“He agrees so might as well meet Sunggyu tomorrow to explain to him why you wanted this stupid exchange. And I am warning you Onew, don’t let your sangtae get the best of you.” Manager Jin said with a knowing smile.
The truth is, I think everyone knows my not-so-secret crush on that hamster of a leader, well everyone but the man himself, that I just wanted to get to know him better and for him to get my members better. Besides, it’ll make him more comfortable during stages and promotions; SMTOWN will soon feature them.
I was nervous as hell when I reached the café, what if he rejected the idea?
“Hi!” I greeted him. He waved back and sat across his chair as the coffee I ordered was served the moment he sat. “I already ordered for us if you don’t mind.” I said and he just nodded.
I just cannot help myself from smiling! This hamster is just so adorable and I swear I could just crush him with my ttakkbam like a walnut.
“thank you for granting my request.” I said and he looked like a confused hamster caught with a flashlight and that made me chuckle.
“I’ve always wanted to feel like what’s it like to be a leader of another idol group. It’s not that I hate my members, it’s because I still feel that I lack as one.” I clarified and he nodded.
“Oh so you requested for Infinite?” he asked and I nodded before sipping my cold drink (and yes, I was doing it on purpose, teasing him because I can do so).
“Since the fans say we’re quite similar and our groups are too, so I figured that it’s a good group for a switch. Plus Infinite’s image is really cool.” I said and he nodded; dang he looks like a hamster (did I emphasize that enough?).
We exchange a few guidelines on how to survive each other’s dorms and settled for the dates. We exchanged numbers and stories and I’m sure the heaven had parted and shown the best spotlight because Sunggyu was glowing!
--
“Just act normal okay?” I reminded the four and their eyes were rolling like hell broke loose. “Just don’t let him get uncomfortable with your antics. No sex in the kitchen Key.” I specifically reminded the diva.
“Sure., we’ll do it in the bathroom.” He said and I just smiled. “Don’t give me that smile hyung, it’s disgusting.” Key said, throwing a pillow over.
“Just make him feel relaxed and enjoy your company. I’m sure he’s just afraid to approach us because of these issues about SME and Woollim. Think of it as a welcome gift for Infinite.” I told them but I know they’ve seen through my crack.
“You’re just going to spy on your lover so just stop reminding us to behave. You should worry about yourself hyung, I’m not there to catch you if you fall!” Jonghyun said with his puppy grin and I just sighed then smiled.
“I’m sure their floor is hard enough not to crack.” It was lame I know but forgive the sangtae.
--
I knocked on the door and a bright smile from Dongwoo greeted me. “Hi!” I said and he gladly welcomed me to meet the 6 infinite members. They introduced themselves and I can sense the tension in the air (and the smell of gay men in front of me).
“Please relax, I’m not that strict and I live up to my name.” I said as I introduced myself.
“Sunggyu hyung shares a room with Myungsoo and Sungyeol. “Woohyun said, pointing to the room on the side and I nodded, pulling my suitcase towards it.
“Let me help you hyung.” Sungyeol said as he opened the door for me.
I looked at the room and smiled a little. I can see the difference in personalities. Oh, is this Sunggyu’s wardrobe?” I asked as I looked at the clothes in different styles and colors.
“Yes. He’s the only one who could pull those off.” Sungyeol explained and I nodded. I opned my suitcase and placed a few of my clothes in the empty space Sunggyu had graciously lent me.
“Who cooks?” I asked and Sungyeol perked up. “Woohyun hyung.” I heard his reply. “Great, I hope he’s good like his best friend.” I said and Sungyeol nodded.
“can I tell you a secret hyung?” Sungyeol said and I nodded, giving him my full attention.
“I’m gay.” He said and I gave him a smile.
“Good to know that you trust me well enough to say that.” I replied and he smiled lovingly.
“I just don’t want you to feel uncomfortable since we share the same room. But you’re not my type.” He said and I was taken aback.
“Who’s your type then?” I found myself asking and he smiled. “Woohyun hyung.” HE replied but then a frown graced his handsome ace. “But he likes Sungjong.” He sighed and I pity him, at least I am not alone in my unrequited love.
“Don’t worry about it; I’m sure he’ll come to realize your worth sooner or later.” I reassured him and he smiled again.
I just thought about it and after looking at the members, I just had a feeling that they were closet gays. Oh come on, the stench of green blood was hanging over them; and Hoya with his purple thing is just screaming GAY! But who am I to judge these kids so I just smiled and enjoyed their company.
“If you don’t mind me asking, why would you swap places with Gyu hyung?” Myungsoo asked and the visual was indeed a face of true beauty.
“Well, I figured that Infinite isn’t really comfortable approaching fellow SMTOWN artists and since you’re family now, this will at least help a bit.” I told them and they nodded.
“I’m not shy around SHINee, hyung.” Woohyun said and I nodded. “Yes I know you’re not but your leader is.” I replied with a smile and they all nodded.
Infinite wasn’t like my members at all, despite the similarities, because they are really messy. I actually tripped on something and it’s a first because it’s not my foot. I picked up the thing and my eyes widened at the book in front of me. “Kama Sutra?” I asked out loud and got confused.
“Its WooHyun hyung’s” Sungjong said and I looked at him with mouth wide open; and I thought I lived in a perverted dorm!
I called the said member and raised an eyebrow. He looked at me then to the book I’m holding and he smiled at me sheepishly. “You’re just like your best friend and mind you, please get a hold of yourself and stop hitting on the poor maknae!” I reprimanded him and he pouted like a cute five year old.
“But hyung.. wait, how can you tell?” He asked because it’s been only an hour and a half and I can tell that he’s hitting on Sungjong. And no I’m not gonna tell him that Sungyeol revealed the detail.
“Look Woohyun, we both know that Key is just like you and he’s dating the puppy back home. I’m quite used to it really, and you guys are being silly by covering your true selves. Just come out of the damn closet and I’ll understand. “ I told him, a bit louder than expected, and everyone was gathering around me.
“you can tell?” Hoya asked and I nodded then smiled.
“It’s not like we’re hiding it, it’s just…” Dongwoo started and I looked at him then smiled.
“Just like Jonghyun, a sad little dino when he thought I’d get mad at him for liking Key in a romantic way. I am your leader for now and trust me that I wouldn’t do anything to harm you and your reputation. Secrets are with me.” I said with the famous smile and they all nodded. “How about we play a game.” I suggested and everyone looked at me like confused babies.
I gathered them around the living room (taking care not to trip on my feet or the clutter they had around the dorm) and I explained the little game we used to play back home. Everyone eyed me curiously while I explained and after which they all agreed.
It was a battle of pride and no one was backing out; no one wanted their secrets revealed. One by one they said things they hid and for the first time in my 5 year idol career, I saw Infinite this pure.
“Now I should tell you my secret.” I said and everyone eyed me curiously, waiting for the juicy secret I am going to reveal.
“I like your leader.. a lot.” I said and I am sure that I am quite blushing afterwards. It was dead silent and I was afraid that they might hate me for it. Then I heard a loud shrill from the maknae.
“You are so getting married!!!” He was jumping for joy and my jaws drop. “Who fed Sugar to the baby?” I asked and Sungjong glared at me. “Like I’m the baby. Come on hyung I am so happy for you. I always wanted you to be my appa!” Sungjong was like Taemin when I told him about Sunggyu.
“And I thought that grandpa has no sex appeal.” Woohyun said and it earned a good smack from Sungyeol.
“Thanks!” I said as I approached the groaning Woohyun. “Manners Nam Woohyun. He is still your leader.” I reminded him and he nodded before cooking dinner.
Sungjong became like magnet to me, telling me how happy he was to know that his Sunggyu appa would have someone like me. I smiled and giggled at the cute maknae, Taemin sure is similar to this one (but he does it so he could get Minho aroused).
It became easier with the boys as the days passed, since they’re not whispering to each other but instead openly talking about their dates and other romantic stuff, oh wait that’s just Dongwoo and Hoya flirting with each other.
“Sungjong baby!” Woohyun plopped himself at the maknae and Sungjong has to kick him away. “I told you hyung that you are not my type!” He said, hiding behind me for protection. I eyed Sungyeol who was a bit hurt and Myungsoo comforted him (and the maknae behind me dug his nails on my shoulder as he clenched his fists in anger).
“okay enough of this drama, we have a practice to attend to.” I told them and they looked like deer caught in the headlights. “I have a practice for Gayo, you should have too so let’s go.” I told them and they nodded. Jungryoul hyung came in just in time to drive us to the SM building.
Their eyes were big as dinner plates and I chuckled. “You’ll be practicing here as well so get used to it.” I told them and they nodded.
We met Super Junior sunbae, well just Henry, Ryeowook and Sungmin and I introduced the members.
“Where’s Gyu?” Ryeowook hyung asked and I explained to him. He gave me a knowing smile and whispered something I’m not going to say. But I’ll tell you this; those three are my loyal shippers.
We entered the familiar practice room and I bowed at Sunggyu. I talked to my members and our choreographer told us to get ready; it’s time to show off!
“I want to watch Infinite’s practice!” The bubbly Taemin said and he pleaded in front of Sunggyu, the hamster agreeing like a slave (and I should thank the baby with Banana milk later).
For the first (and probably the only) time in the history of Infinite, they danced in front of the cloud filled blue background made famous by SM artists.
They danced like their life depended on it and earned claps from the our group.
“As expected Nam, you’re the worst!” Key exclaimed and Woohyun went bananas.
“Watch it Kim, we both know I am not the worst, have you see Sungyeol dance? Oh wait you can’t resist me.” Woohyun teased and I saw Sunggyu rolled his eyes.
“Like I want you. I have my fair share of muscles and boy it feels good.” Key retorted, a glint of slyness on his feline eyes.
“Enough, let’s not go near that topic Key.” I heard Sunggyu spoke and my mouth hanged opened, he said what?
“Sure.” Key replied with a grin and my jaws drop even further, did he just obliged?
“Great job Gyu, you made the almighty shut up.” Woohyun congratulated his leader and this time I heard myself speaking.
“And what have I told you about manners Nam Woohyun?” I raised an eyebrow, lips pressed into a thin line and arms crossed in front of me.
“Sorry hyung, I got carried away.” Woohyun said and Sunggyu looked bewildered; like a spell was casted and he was frozen, he looked cute that way.
----
It was a very fast 2 weeks for me and before I leave tomorrow, I wanted to ask everyone for their permission. I gathered them around the living room (and yes I forced them to clean the dorm) and smiled brightly.
“I am very thankful that you have accommodated me into your dorm and life. I just wish that you won’t get awkward with your fellow SM Town artists now.” I started and they all thanked me for the opportunity and such things. I smiled then continued. “Tomorrow, I’ll be returning to our dorm and I do hope you clean the mess here; I’ll visit you guys often.” I continued and they groaned.
“But most importantly, I want to ask for your permission. Can I have your Sunggyu hyung and be his boyfriend?” I asked, closed my eyes and waited for their response. None came so I opened my eyes and took in the shocked expressions on their faces.
“Oh hell yes!” Sungyeol shouted first, pumping his fist up in the air. The rest joined in and I was attacked with hugs. “You bet we want you to be his boyfriend!” Woohyun added and I heard Dongwoo’s melodious and high pitched laugh.
---
“I was worried about the things they could do, did they hurt you?” I asked as we met for the rehearsal before KBS Gayo Daejun and Sunggyu shook his head.
“They are quite honest, apparently not hiding their statuses and what they do behind closed doors. The worst I got was getting locked out from the room because Key was really horny after a musical.” he told me and I chuckled.
“That’s good because you wouldn’t want to see them actually do it. It’s traumatic.” I revealed as he nodded, mesmerized by how those tiny eyes can stir so much emotions in me.
“So how was yours?” he asked and I nodded. “It’s fun actually, I learned a lot.” I replied and he questioned me further.
“Woohyun’s like a grease ball and he kept on teasing Sungjong to the point where it grosses out the poor maknae. It kinda reminded me of Jjong and Key when they started hitting it off.” I said and he sighed. “Like Sungjong will ever say yes to him, the maknae likes the other maknae.” he told him and I nodded.
“I guess Myungsoo is quite his type, then why don’t Woohyun just hit on Sungyeol, the poor kid has been giving him pleading puppy eyes for the longest time. The poor kid even cried to me like he was in danger of losing his own life.” I remarked and he was surprised.
“Oh my gosh it’s now complicated.” he replied and face palmed himself for not noticing these tiny little details.
“Well good luck with your performance later!” I said then bid farewell.
I went to my members and they were not happy to see me. “I prefer Gyu-hyung better.” Key retorted and Jonghyun glared at him. “Repeat that and you’ll have to jerk yourself later.” The puppy reprimanded his boyfriend, I missed this naughty talks.
“So, how was your stay?” Jonghyun asked with curious eyes and I just smiled at him. “Great, though it took a lot more effort to get them to reveal their real statuses. You wouldn’t believe how funny they were to hide themselves.” I revealed and I heard Key laughed.
I felt warm arms around me and Taemin was now hugging me like he used to. I smiled at him and he gave me a quick kiss on the cheeks. “I’m sure you also did that to Gyu.” I told him and he nodded. “You said to act normal so I did. “ I chuckled, i missed this baby of mine.
“Well i was quite surprised that he took it well.” Jonghyun said, handing me a water bottle. “Can he stay tonight?” Taemin asked and i shook my head. “Please ask him out already!” Taemin whined and i faked a laugh.
“Yah Lee Jinki!” Key nagged me. “Fine I’ll ask him.” I smiled but inside, i was nervous.
Sure I already got Infinite’s approval but what if Sunggyu doesn’t like me back?
The Gayo daejun went on quickly and right after our performance, EXO was awarded as winners. I was happy for my saengs, they are family so there’s no grudges.
“Nam!” Key shouted and the grease ball ran towards the best friend and they had an animated talk, greeting EXO too then went back to talking.
We were all out and congratulating them when i took notice of the 7 member group so i gestured for them to join us. Oh come on e guys, we’re one big happy family!
Sungyeol tugged the sleeves of my suit and I smiled at him. “What’s up Yeol?” I asked and he smiled. Then whispered something in my ear. “Hyung I want to thank you for being there for me when i needed you. Right now i feel much more better and i think i can get Woohyun to stop being a jerk and finally notice me in a different light.” He told me and I hugged him. “That’s my boy Yeollie. Now all you have to do is whack that grease ball, come on.” I led him towards the others and we had some great time chatting.
As I looked at the 10 members giggling and exchanging stories, I was really happy that i made that choice and got to know them better. I’m sure Infinite is a good group and they’ll be rising to the kpop tier, and SHINee will be there to work with them and support them. A smile formed in my face as I saw the fluffy hamster by the side, observing the tiny group in front of him.
“I never told you the real reason why I wanted the exchange.” I said as I stood next to Sunggyu. “I noticed how Infinite is too scared to interact with fellow artists, especially SMTOWN artists. Your members confirmed that you are quite scared of the backlash of the merger thing. I wanted you to be comfortable with everyone. I am sure you are now.” I told him with that famous smile. He was speechless I guess and the next thing i knew, he was hugging me.
“I’m so sorry.” he bowed as he apologize and I laughed at how adorable he is; wow, just wow Sunggyu, you made me fall for you again and again!
“It’s ok. I actually liked it.” I told him as I moved towards him and enveloped him in a comforting hug. “You know what my other reason was?” I asked as I rested my head on my shoulder, tightening my grip on his waist. “You. I wanted to learn more about you and the future babies I’m going to handle when I ask you out.” I said and it must be the shock that he pushed me away and looked at me with slit like eyes.
“You must be kidding me.” he told me but i chuckled; his cuteness is way beyond legal.
“Nope.” I replied as I stepped closer and placed a quick kiss on his cheeks. “I already asked for your members’ permission.” I said as I walked towards the now bigger group and joined in greeting everyone. I then looked at him and winked. God Sunggyu, you make me wanna fuck you right now!
I saw him smile to himself and joined us, Woohyun nudging him and asking something. “Offer?” he asked him and I took the chance to wrap my arm around his waist, enveloping him in a back hug. “He’s not taking me seriously!” I told everyone.
“Just say yes. Do you know how much of an ear sore Onew-hyung’s bathroom cries were when he found out that you were being paired up with Woohyun, Myungsoo and even Soyou? And that’s just fanfictions!” Key said and I glared at him.
“Even in fanfiction I am deprived of a love life what else do I do?” I replied and saw Sunggyu blushed even more.
“Let me love you.” I hear Sunggyu say and the rest of our members cheered and hugged each other; fuck, Sunggyu, this is a dream come true
“Great. How about we start tonight because I am sure you’ve wanted to do it ever since you stepped inside our dorm. And I’m locking out Jonghyun as payback.” I whispered in his ears seductively; I’m sure he wanted it just as much as i do.

Memories
Something we hold on to dearly.
We dwell in the past because we want to remember: how we used to be when we were younger, when life was easier, when we were happier.
...
He looked at the pictures neatly framed and smiled to himself; they were happier before the accident. He heavily sighed as he took his car keys and drove to the hospital. He was reminiscing the times when he was the one seating on the passenger seat and the love of his life was the one happily steering the wheel. Yet today and perhaps for the next couple of years, he’ll do the steering.
He arrived on time for the visiting hours and walked straight to the nurse’s station. The nurses have gone accustomed to him and they welcomed him warmly. “Hello Mr. Kim.” One of them greeted with a smile and he returned the greeting and the smile. “Anything for me?” Sunggyu asked and the nurse nodded before handing a piece of paper to him. “Dr. Lee will see you in his office to explain this.” She said and Sunggyu thanked her before proceeding to the said doctor.
“You wanted to see me Dr. Lee?” Sunggyu asked and the doctor smiled at him. “Sunggyu, great to see you.” The doctor greeted and he let Sunggyu sit on the chair across his desk. “The prognosis is good these days Sunggyu, the readings are getting more and more positive and I’m very happy that Jinki will make it.” Dr. Lee announced and this made Sunggyu smile wide. “Really doc?” He asked and the doctor smiled while nodding. “Though I am expecting the onset of amnesia.” Dr. Lee then said which made Sunggyu frown a bit.
The doctor showed him the CT scan of Jinki’s brain and highlighted an area. “The impact was concentrated here and this part contains some of the memories we have. I am not sure if the amnesia would be permanent or selective. If permanent, then he’ll live his life all over again. But if it is selective, only some will be lost.” The doctor explained and Sunggyu nodded. “However, the onset of selective amnesia is harder to take for most of the people close to the patients. During selective amnesia, the patient loses either his most protected memories or the ones he wanted to forget completely. In most cases, it’s the former. And since you are the most important to him, there’s a big chance that he’ll forget who you are.” Dr. Lee explained and it felt like the whole world collapsed on his shoulders.
“I know that you love my son, and I am not against your relationship with him. I know it’ll hurt you Sunggyu but I don’t have any concrete promises. I will support you in any way that I could. I know that you are the one for my son and I would love to see you both live happily like it was before.” Dr. Lee said and somehow, the words of a father were soothing and comforting for Sunggyu. “Thank you Dr. Lee.” Sunggyu said then excused himself.
It’s a clichéd story, Sunggyu thought, but one that he must live. The only consolation he has right now was the fact that Jinki’s father was supportive of their relationship.
“Jinki!” Sunggyu happily said as he placed the fresh flowers on the desk beside the window. “I heard good news from your father. I hope you’ll wake up soon.” Sunggyu said while he touched the bandaged face of the lover. “Even if you forget about me, I’ll still love you.” Sunggyu finished and a lone tear fell from his eyes. He sniffed then smiled, remembering happier times to ease the pain in his heart.
Then the alarms went on as one of the cardiac monitor recorded an irregularity on the heart rhythm. The other monitor recorded a jump in the brain signals and soon enough, a hoard of medical team was checking up on the patient. Sunggyu stood by the window as he was unsure of what was happening. He looked at the people in white until the beeping sound normalized and they cleared out. Dr. Lee approached him and smiled, Jinki had woken up.
“He’s still adjusting and we need to check him up as standard procedures. But he’s safe now Sunggyu.” Dr. Lee said and Sunggyu instantly hugged the doctor, tears flowing down his eyes.
It took another three days for Jinki before he was able to talk and do things on his own. Another week before he can move his legs with the help of therapy. And by the second week, he was being his old self, only one thing was different.
Of all the fears that Sunggyu had, this was a nightmare he can’t escape; Jinki had forgotten everything about him. The onset of selective amnesia was detected and after one month, Jinki still can’t remember who Sunggyu was.
“It’s just as I feared Sunggyu, he lost the most precious memories he had, and it’s you.” Dr. Lee said and Sunggyu nodded, hiding the pain in his heart. He then smiled weakly before leaving. “He’ll be discharged tomorrow and stay at our house.” Dr. Lee added and Sunggyu nodded.
Sunggyu didn’t know what to do anymore, he wanted to die. But try as he might, he can’t do it. So he just figured that with time, Jinki might remember him. He pulled himself together and hit the sack.
…
“Jinki, Sunggyu is here to visit you.” His mother said as she led a man inside the room. “Sunggyu?” Jinki asked and as Mrs. Lee was about to explain, Sunggyu introduced himself. “It’s Kim Sunggyu, we were classmate in college.” He said with a smile. “Oh really?! How have you been? With the recent accident I may have forgotten some details including people I know.” Jinki said warmly as he gestured to sit across him. Mrs. Lee left the two and Sunggyu handed a bag to Jinki.
“Chicken?” Jinki asked and Sunggyu nodded. “I figured you’ll be craving them.” Sunggyu replied and Jinki nodded vigorously. “Thanks Gyu!” Jinki chirped and it made Sunggyu smile. “What class did we took together?” Jinki asked and Sunggyu answered calmly. “English, Literature, and Journalism.” Sunggyu enumerated and Jinki nodded. “That many? I guess we’ve gotten close back then.” Jinki replied and Sunggyu nodded; but deep inside it hurt him. “Are you feeling better Jinki?” Sunggyu asked and Jinki nodded. “I still have a few more lapses but I think I’m quite ok now.” Jinki answered and Sunggyu smiled. “Well, I’ve got to go. See you soon.” Sunggyu said and Jinki smiled and thanked the visitor.
Back in his condo unit, Sunggyu cried for the nth time and perhaps, it won’t be the last. He was moping at how fucked up his life was and why does Jinki have to forget him of all people. He stared at the huge portrait hanging on the wall and cried even more; how could his life turn upside down in a flash?
He visited Jinki at least once a week but no developments registered to Jinki; Sunggyu is just a college friend. And though giving up wasn’t on his to do list, he gave up when he saw Jinki hand in hand with Key by the garden. His heart was shattered and to put it simply, he cannot go on with his heartache and decided to let it all slip away.
The memories haunted Sunggyu as he cried endless rivers of tears day in and out. They were happy before, they love each other before.
“Sunggyu?” His editor knocked on the door and Sunggyu finally opened up. “Henry?” Sunggyu asked and the man entered the condo unit and sat on the sofa, staring at the portrait of the couple circa happier times. “It seems that things weren’t going any easier for you.” Henry muttered and Sunggyu nodded absent mindedly. “I’m not sure if I can do this anymore Henry. I want to give up; my heart wants to stop beating for him. But my mind is not agreeing.” Sunggyu said and Henry meekly smiled.
“Seems like a good starting piece for a novel.” Henry said and Sunggyu looked at him in disbelief. “I’m trying to lighten up the atmosphere Gyu. I know it’s hard for you. I’ve read enough novels to relate and not to mention my poor heart being broken by my ex-girlfriend.” Henry explained and Sunggyu sighed. “Amber was obviously hitting on girls just as much as you did hit on some of them. It’s practically ending the moment it started.” Sunggyu said and Henry laughed out loud. “Look Sunggyu. Know it’s different, and I also know that it’s hard but you should weigh things before you decide.” Henry smiled and patted Sunggyu’s shoulder. “I expect book 5 for the ‘Beautiful’ series. The management has been bugging me for the follow up ever since the first 4 books were sold out in a matter of days.”Henry said then left.
“Yeah, thanks for the encouragement.” Sunggyu said softly then closed his eyes; for how long, he did not know nor care.
…
“You are not looking too well Sunggyu.” Henry greeted him as the author handed him the chapter for editing. “How can I be looking well when I crammed this chapter for your deadline?” Sunggyu rebutted and Henry laughed lightly. “But hey, it took your minds off things for a while.” Henry said and Sunggyu nodded like a cute and fluffy hamster. “Yeah it did.”
Then a knock was heard and a familiar face entered. “Oh hello, Hey Gyu, fancy meeting you here.” Jinki said and Sunggyu smiled and waved. “Yeah, just passing some due work. And you?” Sunggyu asked casually and Henry has to force himself not to laugh at the situation; he still cared for the friend and favorite author. “I’m checking out books in my library and I found a collection of books in the Beautiful series under this publishing. I wonder if there is a book five. I’m captivated by the story and how the author SG Kim relayed it to the readers. Book four was open ended and I am quite curious at how the story will progress.” Jinki said and Henry smiled widely. “You’re in luck my dear, I want you to meet the famous author SG Kim.” Henry introduced Sunggyu and Jinki was wide eyed and smiling.
“Really? Gyu, you wrote the series?” Jinki said with a bright smile and Sunggyu nodded shyly. “It’s awesome. I love how the characters were connected right from the start and had close encounters all throughout the series but failed to connect the dots. It’s truly a beautiful series!” Jinki exclaimed and Sunggyu thanked him. “And you are in luck Mr. Lee, our precious author has submitted the 5th installment ‘Memories’.” Henry showed him the manuscript and Jinki was so excited just by looking at the cover of the manuscript. “I bet it’ll be epic. Please inform me of the release ok?” Jinki said and Henry assured him that he’ll get one of the first and limited releases of Memories.
“Now you’ve got yourself a fanboy.” Henry jokingly uttered and Sunggyu just glared at him, eyes disappearing into a thin line. “Yeah. Whatever, I’m leaving.” Sunggyu said then left the office.
He walked down the stairs and out into the lobby only to find Jinki standing by the reception. “Oh Gyu! I was hoping if you could join me for some snack. I want to talk to you for a bit.” Jinki invited him and Sunggyu smiled then nodded.
They walked into a nearby café and ordered some coffee and pastries. “Beautiful series is a story that I feel like I can relate to.” Jinki started and Sunggyu smiled. “it’s like I’m reading my life. Accident made me cry as you ended with a vague scene of a car accident so I’m excited to know what Memories has in store.” Jinki said then sipped his cup. “Since we’re friends, I’ll let you in a few spoilers. Memories will be bittersweet. More on bitter but there’ll be a glint of hope in it. Onew survived the accident but whatever fate might have set for him and Gigi is something you have to look forward to.” Sunggyu said with a smile. “I’m expecting something similar to that story line. I believe in your writing style so I’m quite confident that it’ll be a masterpiece.” Jinki assured him and Sunggyu smiled courteously.
…
“Are you dating someone Sunggyu?” Jinki asked when they went out for lunch a few months after the accident, and Jinki was back on his work schedule as an editor for a well known magazine. “No I’m not.” Sunggyu said as they sat on their table. “Why?” Jinki inquired and Sunggyu gave him a small smile. “It’s a heart ache with no closure. And you?” Sunggyu asked and Jinki thought for a while. “I’m seing Key right now. It’s not exclusive though because I know that he’s a major flirt.” Jinki revealed and it confirmed all the nightmares Sunggyu was trying to avoid. “Well I’m happy for you.” Sunggyu lied but Jinki believed him.
The meetings were only casual but it made Sunggyu live nonetheless; a meeting is still better than nothing. Though he still cried at night how pathetic his life was. Heck, he should’ve killed himself when he got the chance, but a certain good night SMS would make him change minds and go to sleep with a peaceful heart.
He doesn’t know why he let it drag on this far but he knew, sooner or later, he’ll let go of his first and only love. He knew the time was fast approaching and this time, he was ready.
There he was, seated by the café window holding an envelope. The sky was clearly dark and a forecast of rain was anticipated. He was clad in black, fitting for a dark and cold autumn. As the café door opened and two faces walked towards him, he knew that today was the dreaded D-day. He stood and greeted the two, and handed the envelope to Jinki. “It’s the last installment. I hope you’ll enjoy it.” Sunggyu said, bowed politely then left.
“Weird guy.” Key said as he sat down on the vacant chair, Jinki sat across him. “He’s not weird Key.” Jinki defended the author and what a surprise Jinki received when he opened the envelope. The original manuscript for Memories was inside, sign personally by the author himself. “Why are you trembling Jinki?” Key asked as he looked at the man seated across him. “He gave me the original manuscript.” Jinki uttered and Key dismissed him. “Of course he’s bound to give you the orginal manuscript, he’s been doing so for the past three books. You didn’t receive the fourth one because you were in an accident but he handed it to your mom.” Key said and all the color drained from Jinki’s face. “He does?” Jinki asked and Key rolled his eyes. “Look, Jinki. I know that you have selective amnesia and truth is, I want to take advantage of it. Although I can trick your mind, I cannot trick your heart to make you love me.” Key explained and Jinki had more questions in his mind. “What is Kim Sunggyu to me?” Jinki asked and Key sighed. “It’s for you to find out Jinki. I don’t want to impose things that can make the situation even more complicated.” Key said then left.
Jinki sat there and held the manuscript in his trembling hands. He flipped the pages randomly when a page caught his eye; It was in a letter format and he read it aloud.
“Maybe in time I’ll learn to forget you as what the accident had brought you. Maybe in the future, I can look back on the past and forget the present that I am currently in. Maybe I’ll write more stories that will satisfy my pangs for melancholy. But though I’ll try to do these things, my heart can’t and won’t make me forget that I do love you.”
With just a few sentences, Jinki’s heart ached and tears fell from his eyes, can Sunggyu mean more than what he considers him to be? He can’t explain the heart ache that those lines brought him; it was more painful than any inflicted physical injury. He ran out of the café with the manuscript at hand and tried to find the author who had caused the pain. He searched the empty streets of Seoul as the rain poured. He searched until he can’t search no more, like a scene in a novel, a picture of frustration, framed by the rain drops that fell. He wanted to stop but he couldn’t, he must find him. He continued to search, wherever his feet could take him, he didn’t care where. He searched and searched but it was dark, damp and cold; he failed to find the person he longed for.
“Is this the ending you wrote?” He shouted to no one in particular, amidst the heavy rain and empty streets. “No. I didn’t write a dark and rainy ending.” A voice said and Jinki searched the dark streets for the source. Jinki spotted a man by a tree, back leaning against the trunk. He dashed towards the man and smiled as he saw Sunggyu, eyes closed and mind wandering.
“Kim Sunggyu.” Jinki started. “They broke up, they never saw each other and they’ve moved on, leaving the memories that connected them.” Sunggyu said without opening his eyes. “It’ll be clichéd if I wrote that Onew recovered his memories and that they’ll live happy ever after.” Sunggyu added and finally opened his eyes.
“Kim Sunggyu. I don’t and can’t remember you. I honestly don’t. But somehow, my heart tells me that I knew you and that I…” Jinki said and Sunggyu grinned then walked away. “I’m nothing to you Lee Jinki, as you are nothing to me. We were college schoolmates, nothing more, nothing less.” Sunggyu said, walking into the rain to conceal the tears that were falling from his eyes. “Kim Sunggyu, I really don’t remember you.” Jinki ran and faced Sunggyu once again.
“But my heart tells me that I somehow love you. I can’t explain it but every time I see you, my heart beats fast. When I don’t see you, I long for you. I love you, its all clear to me now. I really can’t remember anything about you Sunggyu, but can you entrust me your present and let me love you? Let’s forget the past and live the present. Let me love you and together, let’s make a beautiful future.” Jinki said and Sunggyu let out all the pain in his heart as he cried. He fell to his knees and cried. “Sunggyu.” Jinki knelt and lifted his chin so that they were eye to eye. “Please, let me love you.” Jinki said softly and Sunggyu nodded, tears still spilling from his eyes. Jinki then leaned to kiss the lover as the rain washed every negative thoughts from Sunggyu; the memories long forgotten is not important, it’s the memories they’ll make together that weighs more.
“So how did you end Memories?” Jinki asked as he toweled his hair dry. “Read. I’m not telling.” Sunggyu said while he was preparing something in the kitchen. “Fine, but you better make book 6.” Jinki said as he crossed the living room of Sunggyu’s apartment, stopping in front of the huge portrait. “Frozen?” Sunggyu said as he joined Jinki and placed the bowl of warm soup on the center table. “We look so happy.” Jinki commented and Sunggyu nodded. “Yeah we were.” Sunggyu said with a frown. “Hey, why are you so sad? We’ll be even happier.” Jinki said as he pecked Sunggyu’s lips. “Looking forward to it.” Sunggyu said then smiled.
Maybe Jinki had forgotten certain memories but it’s not important as each day, he’ll be making happier memories with Sunggyu.

The blinding rays of the stage lights were all that a certain newbie saw as he stood by his group about to debut. They were a little nervous since they came from a small agency and were trying to make a mark on the already congested Kpop scene. They heard the PD call them and 7 members positioned themselves in front of the camera to record their debut stage.
It wasn’t smooth sailing for the 7 member group and they all ended up tired, stressed and frustrated with the reception of their group. They were, to put it simply, just another passing group some agency wasted tons of investment for nothing. But they didn’t lose hope, they didn’t succumb to the weight of their failures; they may lack right now, but a good song and perseverance will propel them to the top of the tier.
They saw their names in blinding lights and their albums sold in thousands. They hear their names being chanted and the arena filled with glowing yellow lights. It was a dream come true for 7 idols who were trying their best to reach the top of the Kpop world; Finally, they can live up to their name: INFINITE.
---
They were meant to shine above others, and they were meant to be loved by people older and younger. They were a group packaged to be a balance of good looks, good voices and that noona killer smile condensed into a 5 member unit. They don’t need a large number to make a mark; they just need to smile and the rest was history.
They started off well, they were received well and they rose to the top rather quickly. They never had any problems with promotions since their agency was one of the big three. Their Sunbae constantly promoted and supported them, they were rather grateful to 13 (and additional 2) hyungs who were always ready to help them shine.
Towards their 3rd year, they lost the luster of their diamond, and soon, they felt that their management had forgotten about them. But they were professionals and they were talented. They sang about Lucifer so they were not afraid to face hell. And so they did and they were back, fiercer and much stronger; they will continue to shine because they are SHINee.
---
We see what goes on stage and on camera, how they smile and goof around with each other, but behind the lights and smiles, they hid their true selves.
“Excuse me, Kim Kibum please.” A small voice greeted Taemin as he opened SHINee’s dressing room door. “Oh, may I know your name?” Taemin replied with a respectful tone. “It’s Nam Woohyun.” The person said and Taemin gave him a courteous smile and told him to wait for a while. A few minutes passed and Woohyun was dragged inside the dressing room with the diva hugging him tightly. “Woohyun! I’m so glad to see you! You look so fabulous!” Key remarked and Woohyun was smiling widely.
“Thanks a lot. Can you wish me luck? I’m pretty nervous.” Woohyun confessed and the Diva gave him a big smile and did his Aegyo. “Woohyun Fighting!” Key finished it off with a buing buing and effectively made Woohyun laugh. “Thanks a lot Key, I really needed that.” Woohyun said and Key gave him another hug. “What are friends for? Come on. You’re up?” Key asked and Woohyun nodded. “Great. Hey anyone wants to come and watch Infinite’s comeback stage?” Key asked and Taemin got up from his chair and nodded excitedly. “I want to watch them! They are awesome!” Taemin remarked and Woohyun thanked him sincerely. “Hey Woohyun right? The Main vocals. I’m Jonghyun.” Jonghyun introduced himself and Woohyun shook hands with him. “Heard you’re a great singer. BTD is awesome and your voice is just perfect for it.” Jonghyun remarked and it made the Infinite member blush slightly. “Thanks .”
Woohyun led his friend and two Shinee members near the stage where 6 other Infinite members where already on standby. Woohyun introduced the three, their folder leader bowing a perfect 90o bow which took the three Shinee members by surprise. “Oh Sunggyu-ssi, please it’s not necessary, you are older.” Jonghyun remarked and the leader responded. “But Shinee is our sunbaenim.” the three Shinee members chuckled at how cute the Infinite leader was. “Oh, Sunggyu-ssi is adorable. I wonder if he’s a little weird like our Onew hyung.” Key told the two and upon hearing the name, the Infinite leader was frozen; there’s something in that name that made him nervous.
“And I thought you respected me.” They heard a familiar voice and it was Onew walking with Minho. The Shinee leader and visual introduced themselves to the Infinite members, both bowing and being respectful; oh praise Korean honorifics and ranking. Onew gave a warm smile towards each member but it wasn’t the same for the leader. “Hey Woohyun, Sunggyu-ssi is 89 line oo right?” Key asked and the man in question nodded. “A few months older Onew Sunbaenim” Woohyun replied and upon hearing the super honorifics, Onew smiled and told the younger. “I’t Onew hyung. We’re just on the same level.” Onew said and all 7 members bowed to the 5 sunbaes before going on stage.
It was undeniable that Infinite has some talent, and SHINee was utterly impressed at how their choreography was well executed, add to it the power vocals of Woohyun and soothing voice of Sunggyu. “D’you think that they’ll be worthy competition?” Jonghyun asked the leader and the older just sighed. “Everyone is worthy to be called competition. We don’t pin point one group and tell them they are our rivals. Besides, the only competition that we have right now is ourselves.” Jonghyun smiled and nodded with the wise words from his leader; sometimes, he is just taken by surprise at how their leader can turn from a weirdo to a wise old man, but then he reminds himself that Lee Jinki is a very unpredictable man.

Infinite and SHINee may not have a lot of interactions on-cam but they do have a lot of interactions off-cam. Key and Woohyun were best of friends and the two often hangout with each other and appear on each others’ selca. This wasn’t alarming to both fans, on the contrary, they loved the WooKey pair soo much. The other members were civil and they hang out once in a while; L and Minho sometimes get togehter with Siwon or some photography.
Everyone seemed to be close in one way or another but it turns out that 2 members were not on good terms. They may smile a lot and greet each other often, but they both knew that they were not on good terms; but they are civil and professional.
“Guys!! Free your schedule this weekend, we are going to Infinite’s 2nd Invasion Concert! VIP Pass from Woohyun!” Key announced and the other members were ecstatic. “But I have prior commitments Key!” Onew remarked and this turned on the Diva mode of the SHINee omma. “You are going to cancel that commitment Lee Jinki and enjoy the concert with the rest of us. Got it?” Key demanded and Onew just sighed and nodded, sending a message to Lee Joon that he won’t be able to make it on Saturday.
The concert was nice and the SHINee members were at awe; They were also chanting along with the Inspirits for most of the song. When i came to their solo, Key was practically cheering wildly for Woohyun; the grease ball sending hearts towards his best friend. “Calm down Key!” Jonghyun pulled the younger to sit back on his chair as Woohyun continued to sing. “But Woohyun is super awesome!” Key remarked and continued to cheer like there’s no tomorrow. The lights then dimmed and soon, a spotlight was was on the center of the stage, a white piano and a man dressed in white came into focus.
Sunggyu started to press the keys gently and his voice echoed inside the arena. Saranghanda. He started and there were loud cheers from ChinGyu’s. The song was quite emotional, an a lone tear fell from the singer’s eye. He still held the notes beautifully despite the surge of emotions and ended with his solo with loud cheering. It was a masterpiece and Jonghyun, the designated Main Vocal of SHINee was applauding for the praise worthy solo of the leader. “Backstage!!” Key announced as he led the others towards the guards and showed them their passes. “You guys go ahead, I need to meet someone.” Onew said and separated from the group. The others let it pass as they continued towards the Infinite dressing room. “Woohyun!” Key glomped on the friend who was smiling widely. “Thanks Key. How’s the concert?” Woohyun asked and Key gave him two thumbs up, the SHINee members congratulated them as well. “Onew hyung?” Woohyun asked and Key told them that he had to meet someone but he did watch the concert. “He did?” Sunggyu suddenly said and took the SHINee members by surprise. “Oh, how did you guys find it?” Sunggyu smiled at the four. “Very impressed with you Sunggyu hyung. Amazing.” Jonghyun praised the leader who blushed and bowed.
---
“Why are you avoiding Sunggyu hyung?” Jonghyun asked as he sat next to the leader after their practice. “I’m not.” Onew replied but the younger wasn’t convinced. “I’m pretty sure you are avoiding him because if not, you would’ve taken IS2 instead of giving it to Taemin.” Jonghyun said and Onew sighed loudly. “He abandoned me. Happy?’ Onew blurted out and Jonghyun gave him a small smile. “I’m all ears hyung.”
...
“Just stop it Nam Woohyun. Stop pairing me up with Onew-ssi.” Sunggyu shouted at the vocalist. “Why do you hate him so much?” Woohyun asked and Sunggyu was caught off guard. “No, I don’t hate him.” Sunggyu replied. “Yeah because you love him.” Woohyun added and effectively froze Sunggyu’s entire body. “I knew you were feeling something towards Onew-hyung, you can’t lie hyung, it’s your waterloo.” Woohyun remarked and Sunggyu can’t help but cry silently at the words of the younger. “He hates me Woohyun” Sunggyu managed to say. “Why would he?” Woohyun said as he enveloped the older in a tight hug. “Because I abandoned him.” Sunggyu blurted out and cried.
...
“Lee Jinki Imnida.” A kid introduced himself in front of his hew class and everyone greeted him back. He was popular with the girls since he’s kind and cute and was rather sweet; but because he can sing very well, he swept girls off of their feet. ”Lee Jinki, meet Kim Sunggyu of Class 2.” The teacher introduced the two boys as they were chosen to represent their school at a district singing competition. They shook hands and became instant friend; a smart Jinki and a slow Sunggyu.
“I have health issues and often go to the hospital for check ups. I’m not smart and I lack physical strength.” Sunggyu said as they took a break from their practice. “Really? Are you ok with practicing? I mean your health is rather important.” Jinki replied, effetively making the shy kid from class 2 smile adorably.
They competed and won the district finals and they became friends. The two hot shots if their school became popular with the girls. “Aren’t we getting more fangifts Sunggyu!” Jinki teased the male who was glared back at the friend. “As if you’re not receiving twice as much!” Sunggyu said and Jinki laughed at how adorable his best friend was. “Come on Sunggyu, it’s a compliment.” Jinki remarked as they walked towards a fast food chain.
“You like chickens?” Sunggyu asked and Jinki nodded and excitedly took the meat and downed it. “Best food ever!” Jinki remarked and it made Sunggyu laugh out loud. They hang out often, eating chicken without getting sick of it.
They were best of friends and inseparable. They complete each other; what Sunggyu lacks physically, Jinki compensated. Sunggyu was never good with math but Jinki helped him get through their tests. Sunggyu was Jinki’s number 1 fan, cheering for him in academic competitions. They were the epitome of friendship.
But they have their own dreams and ambitions, and that led them to part ways. At the Nationals for Math Olympics, Jinki faced the world on his own, without Sunggyu who chose to pursue his dream in Seoul. He was devastated and his mind blanked just as he was about to answer the final question, losing to a girl from Mokpo.
It was okay if Sunggyu pursued his dream as a singer but was it hard to tell Jinki about his plans of moving to Seoul and audition? Jinki would have encouraged him and supported him if he did. But Sunggyu chose to abandon and hurt him in the most hurtfu way possible; it was Jinki’s birthday after all.
He was broken into tiny little pieces; his best friend left him just when he needed him the most. But what broke Jinki further was the fact that he was harboring feelings towards the friend, and it’s not brotherly anymore.
They parted ways and he moved on. Taking a new name and a new life. He became a noona killer and an idol known for his condition. Jinki took the role of Onew and proved that he has talents to boot. He was adored by many and he enjoyed the attention; he is loved.
Hey met once again on a show, their exchange of glances was rather quick but acknowledge. Sunggyu was shocked to see him; though he is now known as Onew, Sunggyu knew that the man was in fact lee Jinki.
Their meeting was unavoidable but they kept on being civil with each other; those time SUnggyu wanted to apologize and just get back to where they were before, when they were friends and they enjoy each other’s company. But he knew to well that he was at fault and the pain he caused Jinki will not be easy to erase.
He chose one song and pleaded wollim to add it to his album, it was a song dedicated to Jinki. No one knew why he wanted that desperate melancholic ballad but Sunggyu insisted that he wanted that song. He chose it over other songs for his solo performance because he wanted to let go of his aching heart, and to tell that one man how he missed him so much. He cried as he recalled how much they were closer back then, how much he loved Jinki and he was afraid of rejection. He was afraid Jinki would hate him if he confessed so he left, to make things easier for the two of them.
But he knew Jinki didn’t take it easily and up until now, the SHINee leader hated his guts. He swallowed hard and smiled nervously, Jinki would be very professional so he should. He composed himself as Woohyun told them that SHINee was attending and it brought new hope for Sunggyu. He poured his heart out into that song, hoping that Jinki would forgive him and they could be friends again; just friends is enough.. But all his hopes disappeared when SHINee came backstage without their leader; Sunggyu was sure that Jinki wouldn’t and couldn’t forgive him.
...
“Oh Onew-sunbaenim” Sunggyu greeted him as they met on set of High Society, the Shinee leader gave him a small smile. “I don’t know anything hyung.” Key said as they settled themselves on the chairs for their makeup. “I don’t give a damn, let’s get this over with.” Onew said and hearing this, Sunggyu just sighed and held back the tears. “Hey Gyu.” A voice caught the man’s attention and it was Shindong. “Shindong hyung.” Sunggyu bowed respectfully which made Shindong chuckle. “You are adorable beyond words.” Shindong then hugged him and patted him on his shoulder. “So you ready to face your nightmare?” Shindong asked which left the Infinite leader speechless. “Come on Gyu, fix this turmoil or else your scenes will be edited out.” Shindong said with a wink and left the leader to talk to his hoobaes.
“I guess I need to end this.” Sunggyu sighed then approached the three. “Onew-ssi, can I talk to you for a while?” Sunggyu mastered all the courage he had when he asked Onew, the younger nodding then walking out to find a private place for them to talk. “So?” Onew asked as he faced Sunggyu, the latter was nervously shifting his weight from one foot to the other. “I’m..” He started and Onew rolled his eyes, getting annoyed by the person in front of him. “I don’t have all day Sunggyu.” Onew said impatiently. “I’m Sorry.” Sunggyu blurted out, desperate to keep Onew where he was and tell him every thing in his mind and heart right now.
“I’m sorry.” Those were the only words that came from his mouth. “I don’t understand what you’re saying Sunggyu.” Onew replied and then turned to walk away, Out of desperation, Sunggyu stopped him by wrapping his arms around the younger’s wasit, trapping Onew with a back hug, and effectively stopping him from walking away.
“I’m Sorry Jinki. I’m very sorry.” Sunggyu said, tears flowing down his tiny eyes. Onew tried to get the man off of him but Sunggyu was eager to keep their position. “I’m sorry I left. I’m sorry I abandoned you.” Sunggyu continued and finally, Onew stopped forcing Sunggyu off of him and stood still. “Why Sunggyu?” Onew asked and Sunggyu cried harder, not giving his reply. “I’m asking you why Sunggyu? Why did you leave?” Onew asked a bit louder, scaring Sunggyu. “I love you. I left because I love you.” Sunggyu blurted out, making Onew speechless. “I love you more than a brother or a friend, I love you so much that it scared me. I was afraid that you’ll turn away and reject me. I was afraid because I knew that what I’m feeling isn’t logical. Jinki I love you.” Sunggyu said, tears spilling down his eyes like waterfalls. Onew was silent and still, he was lost for words.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have come.” Sunggyu said as he removed his hands from the younger and started to walk away. After a few slow steps, Sunggyu felt a hand gripped his writst and his body pulled towards a stronger man, a loud thud was heard from their collision. He then felt warm lips on his, and more tears slid down his face. He responded willingly, enjoying the warmth and the softness of Onew’s lips on his. Onew then put their foreheads together as they broke for air, cupping Sunggyu’s cheeks and staring straight into his eyes. “You abandoned me Kim Sunggyu and I have every reason to hate you.” Onew said and it made Sunggyu cry fresh tears. “But I love you so much that I can’t stay mad at you. I love you.” Onew said and Sunggyu was crying loudly, enveloping Onew in a tight hug. “I love you Jinki.” Sunggyu uttered in between his wails, Onew caressing Sunggyu’s hair as he planted a soft kiss on top of the older’s head. “I love you too Sunggyu.” He said softly in response.
Onew fished out his handkerchief and wiped he tears off of Sunggyu’s face. “Don’t leave me again Sunggyu ok?” Onew said and the older nodded vigorously. “I won’t, I promise.” Sunggyu said then smiled, earning a kiss from Onew. “Great. Now how about we finish filming and catch up?” Onew suggested and Sunggyu nodded, extending a hand to Onew. “Friends?” Sunggyu asked with a smile but Onew shook his head, the smile faded into a frown. “More than friends.” Onew replied and gave him a kiss on the cheek before walking back to the set. Sunggyu touched the area where Onew kissed him and smiled to himself. “Yah Jinki! Will you go out with me?” Sunggyu called out and Onew waited for him to catch up. “Sure, Chicken?” Onew replied and at the mention of their fave food, Sunggyu nodded then smiled.
They walked hand in hand back towards the set, Sunggyu even rested his head on the younger’s shoulder. “I miss you Jinki.” Sunggyu blurted out and Onew let go his hand and wrapped one arm around the older’s waist. “I missed you too.”
A/n: Another Ongyu Randomness because i love the two even though the pairing doesn;t exist. Oh how i wish they could get more interaction in real life. Cheers~
