Because of the jet lag we’ve been getting up pretty early – and this gives me time to sketch in the morning before we go anywhere. This is the courtyard of the place where we are staying. On the right is the farmhouse and on the left is one of the converted outbuildings like the one that we are staying in. According to their website, the main farmhouse was built in the 1830’s. Today is my first day of my summer On-Location-YEG sketchbook project. Location: @citadeltheatreyeg 🌿🌵🌴 . This was a private sketch session (public/group sessions starting in May). I felt a bit rusty and it shows in the drawing, but I’m happy to just start sketching again! I haven’t used my lamy fountain pin since winter 2018 so it exploded on me right away (surprise!), but after a wash, it’s back to its reliable self. I seriously love that pen ! 👩🏻❤️🖋 . This sketch is slightly out of order – but it was waiting in my sketchbook for some paint. I did this one when my wife and I went out for lunch on Father’s Day to our favourite restaurant, the #WabiSabiNoodleHouse in Makati. This place has lots of delicious varieties of (vegetarian) ramen noodle soup – plus the restaurant is paired with the Ikigai Kakigōri Cafe. Kakigōri is a Japanese shaved ice…

Went to the pool, and surprising there were very few people there! Here’s another unfinished sketch. A little too much textural scribbling - more than usual. Still playing around with wonky lines - trying to draw loosely, honestly, and without too much “planning” or “design”. It’s always interesting to see how things turn out when I try to not be precious with drawing.
