Daily excerpt from today’s writing, chapter 14 of The Gentle Wolf (Perth Shifters #2):

‘I just want to be there for you,’ Thomas said. ‘But I don’t know how to do that by pretending this doesn’t exist.’

‘I’m not saying pretend it doesn’t exist, I’m just saying it’s not a problem, right?’

‘It would be a lot easier to look after you in this, or at least have an idea of what to do sometimes, I know this still affects you. Aodhan, I was there when you had that nightmare, remember? And I know that you’re used to them and that you went off the next morning and you can survive anything. But I’d like to be there for you.’

‘I don’t need that,’ Aodhan said, and his voice sounded hard for the first time in Thomas’ memory. Aodhan looked firmly sideways, and then he took several steps away. ‘I don’t need that from anyone, and I don’t need it from you. I’ve never asked for that, and it’d hurt you anyway. Especially with your history with Chris.’
