OnS Theories (11S).Eigth Theory - Urd Geales vs Ferid Bathory, a clash of ideals
Hello everyone, the countdown for the release of next chapter is starting to feel somehow; I’m quite hyped about what’ll happen about it but for now, let’s talk about two interesting characters most of the fandom pretty much enjoy seeing.
Before starting, I’d like to thank @kyisfuckingcute for giving me out inspiration and a good idea about these two characters, therefore, my gratitude goes for the user mentioned above; therefore, let’s begin!!
To begin with, Ferid Bathory and Urd Geales are one of the most liked characters in the story, of course, in terms of popularity, other characters win so far; but for now, let’s focus on these two.
So far, Ferid Bathory’s one of the smartest characters to ever appear in the series; of course, there are other brilliant characters within the story such as Sika Madu, Mahiru Hiragi, Urd Geales and Rigr Stafford; but, despite them being smart, Ferid possesses a higher IQ which is why he’s able to stablish plans easily, to take tactics easily and in a way, team up with Crowley Eusford to be a team of what could be called of “Brains and muscle team”.
Despite this, another character that has a demanor and a collected mind is Urd Geales; which is currently the leader of the Vampire Council; 2nd Vampire Progenitor and a respected leader among vampires; he’s a cold minded character in terms of how to handle situations that are not favorable for vampires.
Now, the theory title states a clash of ideals but, how does that exactly fit with these two characters? For this, let’s explain said facts:
Ferid Bathory, a vampire that has broken expectations
To begin with, Ferid Bathory is a peculiar vampire, he’s a vampire that questions and wonders why exactly were they turned into said creatures; what was the real reason they were turned in, the concept of life, how to enjoy it despite being monotonous.
Despite this, within the vampire council, Ferid is considered as a vampire that shouldn’t have been turned into one specially by Urd, but why? Why was Urd opposed to have Ferid turned into a vampire?
Generally speaking, in any society, something that is new or different terms to be seen with a careful attitude towards this. In a way, it’s a natural response; and said attitude applies to vampires as well.
Vampires themselves are creatures that lost most of their emotions at the moment their lives turn dull for living too much but, that doesn’t mean they lost the traits of behavior in a society; they themselves built one when the First Progenitor sired them; including rules they required to follow suit.
Therefore, when said rules started, the first vampires sired got used to them, they grew to the point their society was made of vampires who thought alike in a way; therefore, when Rigr decided to sire Ferid Bathory; Urd Geales considered as a crazy idea, something that was not even something to consider as a good decision but then, why did Rigr ended up transforming Ferid into a vampire?
At that time, Rigr Stafford was seeking for a Michaela, he was found on the experiments Sika Madu was following suit; therefore, when Rigr spotted Ferid, it was clear that he saw something within him, despite Ferid’s looks that resembled the angel asleep; it seemed that Rigr tried to achieve something by turning him into a vampire.
Despite this, with time, Rigr discovered that it didn’t give a desired result, which is why he left Ferid to his own and disappeared in order to find the First and show him how mistaken he was for discarting him.
Meanwhile, at the same time Ferid was left alone, he started to seek for his own MIchaela but, unlike Rigr, he decided to stay with said Michaela, but his concept of a Michaela was something that changed a lot with the perspective of the First and Rigr Stafford. (For that about Ferid’s Michaela, I’ll explain it in a theory that’s pending for now)
Now, despite the amount of time that has crossed within the story; Ferid still remained as someone who was seen as someone who was not normal within vampires and so far, the one who has learnt to deal and so far comprehend Ferid in a way is Crowley Eusford; and despite that his group was murdered by Ferid no less, it’s likely that Crowley is trying to understand what exactly Ferid thinks or why his behaviour is like that.
Focusing again with Ferid, one of the silent fights Ferid stands against the other Vampire Progenitors are the following ones:
Why are vampires stuck on time?
Why are vampire progenitors dead despite being able to live and move?
Why haven’t vampires found a reason to live?
Why vampires limit themselves instead of finding a path to grow with?
Why are vampires opposed to changes?
Urd Geales, a vampire that believes law & order
Urd Geales is a collected vampire, he’s one of the oldest vampires within the Vampire Council; despite seeing most vampires treating humans as livestock without freedom; Urd Geales is the most generous compared to the other progenitors; Urd Geales in the past was clearly a slave, and this is likely to see when Rigr and him met the First Progenitor when they were humans.
The First Progenitor was likely amused to have test subjects to turn into vampires for the first time; but, within this, it’s likely that despite with the amount of time Urd has lived, he kept that unique trait within him, which was being a generous ruler but having law and order in full display, what do I mean?
Back in chapter 42, Urd Geales was displayed seeing a dancer on stage with a face filled with fear; that only can display that Urd Geales has taught humans to fear in case they broke any law along vampires; at the same time, he was merciful with kids which can be seen by how some kids were running freely on the capital he ruled.
But now, why do we state there’s a clash of ideals between Urd and Ferid?
The main reason is that Urd Geales learnt to stick with rules, he was aware that in order to live in a good society, rules needed to be followed; at the same time, order was required within this.
He was aware of how humans behaved, he was aware of the attitude some vampires took thanks to the further experience in terms of his lifespawn compared to Ferid; but within this, Urd dismissed something that Ferid still seeks; a reason to live.
All vampires lost a reason to live, they stopped caring about how life was and started with a monotonous society; which is why vampires are cold and have no emotions to display, except for their greed for blood whenever they were thirsty.
Though, it can be said that despite this, Urd clings a little on finding said reason but, at the same time, he seeks to end up with his life along with the other vampire progenitors; they’re aware they’ve lived long but despite that, their lives turned dull which is why in chapter 76, Urd wondered if it was the time they were able to rest after Rigr launched missiles towards them.
