honestly it’s fine if you personally don’t like bumbleby, if you prefer other ships more, if their story isn’t your cup of tea, but if you’re not a wlw (woman loving woman, aka lesbian/bi/pan woman) you need to shut up about how much you hate it and how forced and awful and toxic it is.

i’ve seen so much lesbophobia, biphobia, misogyny, and victim blaming in the rwby fandom, and a lot of that (though certainly not all) is from anti-BB shippers. it’s become nearly impossible for me to take anti-BB shippers in good faith because i know they’re going to repeat homophobic talking points, insist wlw are delusional for seeing the romance that is clearly there to anyone not willfully ignorant or brain dead, etc.

yet bee shippers are stereotyped as “wasps” and “the most toxic part of the fandom” by people that are happy to recycle homophobic garbage, are only okay with wlw if they’re out of sight and out of mind or “fap material”, people who think smearing the creator’s name through the mud is a good retaliation against a ship they don’t like, people who hatewatch the show, people who call neo their loli waifu, people who kin adam taurus and want the bees to die

but wlw stand up for a ship that’s actually good representation, that many of us see our experiences reflected in, that gets so much hate because it’s wlw between two title characters, because they’re not one-sided and easily processed and they’re abuse victims with a complex and realistic relationship… but we’re the bad guys for being poked with a stick for years and finally responding with “actually, it’s canon, so shut up”

The band kids at my school had first block in a seperate building. That building generally turned the intercom down, or off. Once the principal came in and watched our class, as he do, ya know. He was upset that we didn’t do the pledge. So the next day we had to stand and do the pledge. The only person who participated was the teacher. We sat silently. It was a group decision that wasn’t discussed before hand. He said ok. Later that week a petition was delivered to the principal about the pledge and how none of the kids wanted to do that. He doubled down, and told the teacher to send any kid not participating to the office. The following Monday when his policy of sending the kids to the office was in effect the entire band class was matched down to the office.

The principal tried to lecture us and the trumpet players were not having it. The drum major ran us through every song right there in the office.

After that the pledge was optional.
