OnS Theories (12S). Fourteenth Theory - Boundaries of a vampire
Hey guys, we’re close to the end of the theories for the moment, there are 5 theories left for this, two will be extra theories while other will be left for next season since I’ll end up rewriting it over. It ended too long but that’s enough,
I hope everyone’s alright and doing well, therefore, let’s begin!!
In a previous theory, I talked about Ferid’s lessons through the story despite his demanor towards life and the other characters, but, for now, let’s focus on the boundaries a vampire possess.
Now, you might wonder why focus on the boundaries, for that let’s take a review.
First of all, vampires are well known for being creatures whose body functions stopped working, they have no heart beat, nor digestion process, nothing a human can do.
Vampires are aware they can only depend on blood as the only desire left in them; they’re aware that if they starve to death or end up losing blood, they’ll eventually reach the path of becoming a demon.
Furthermore, it is stated within the story that vampires usually die after they lose their heads, their heart or they’re attacked with cursed gears, therefore, why does the manga itself and Ferid Bathory break such boundaries?
As I’ve been talking about this in some theories, vampires themselves are a society, the rules created 2000 years ago by the First Progenitor, they’ve been tied by them up to the current time.
Sika Madu explained and told the first two vampires how their bodies eventually changed, which is why Urd and Rigr, when they first meet Ashera mention they’re not like humans, they are likely superior beings.
But despite this, vampires grew or more likely, learnt to grow with boundaires or limits; what does that mean?
As I’ve stated in the beginning, they’ve grown to learn that once they get certain body parts removed, they’re unable to move or keep battling; but of course, like any story, there’s always a character breaking such things, and this character is Ferid Bathory no less, but how did Ferid manage to break such boundaries?
There’s something that Ferid possesses compared to the rest of the vampires, perhaps you might believe it’s the Michaela Trait but no, this time is not that, it’s actually something more simple, and that is the fact that Ferid’s mind knows no limits.
Vampires, despite living for long centuries, they still have the mindset of a human, this means, there are some things or aspects or more likely primitive aspects that makes them end up in a human mentality set.
But, before proceeding, there’s something amiss as I’ve stated at the beginning, what could it be?
Correct. Thre are some aspects that still don’t make sense but, at the same time it does. Now that we know that it depends a lot on the mindset and will of a vampire, let’s talk about why they die or not:
Vampires cut in half
One of the most basic aspects that limit a vampire is that their bodies end up getting cut in half; one of the most basic example is with Lest Karr when he faces Rigr in chapter 51; Rigr easily cuts him in half, and instead of Lest trying to have any sort of movement, he attempts to attach himself again, but why?
Despite Lest living almost the same time as Krul, for him it’s likely to see that once he’s cut in half, he won’t be able to be productive as a vampire or more likely, there will be a limitation for it, of course, compared to Ferid whose lifespawn is less compared to Lest, he was able to move up his lower body to his will.
Beheaded vampires
Once a vampire’s head is cut off, it’s likely to imagine they’ll die; for vampires with no noble ranks, its more possible for them to die; for higher progenitors, this means the lack of connection between body and head, what do I mean?
The link between nerves is long gone, therefore, there’s no connection with the body. This kind of event happens with most of the vampires such as Crowley in chapter 76. Shinoa as Shikama managed to cut Crowley’s head. Instantly, Crowley stopped moving, which states that him as a vampire, is not capable to give orders to his body to pick his head off.
Damage received by vampire weapons
This highly depends on the rank of a progenitor but, at the same time, it resolves around endurance, resistance, time of living as a vampire and abilities.
Whenever a vampire of a lower rank gets attacked by a progenitor of a higher one, it’s likely to see said vampire lose the battle but, how is it possible for vampires to die with such weapons?
When vampires are merely cut, they’re likely to lose blood and they’ll require blood to heal themselves, but, when the head is attacked or more likely the brain, this ends up killing the vampire.
Like any human in real life, once the brain stops working, the whole body dies. Within the story, this is clearly seen in chapter 52, when Crowley faces Fuola Honte until killing him.
But despite this, there’s a contradiction. In chapter 92, Ferid was attacked twice by Urd Geales; the difference of strength is huge but as expected, Ferid was able to survive, but why?
Easy, Ferid’s brain wasn’t attacked nor his heart, which actually allowed him to keep moving.
Damage by a cursed gear
It’s common to see vampires being attacked or stabbed by cursed gears to instantly die, this is by the fact that cursed gears end up acting as poison for them but, there’s one issue here.
In chapter 62, Ferid jokingly presumes his body regeneration to Mitsuba and Shinoa; Shinoa seeing a man naked for the first time, ends up beheading Ferid with Shikama Doji. This could mean that a certain amount of damage would affect Ferid but it was the latter; Ferid was like normal and carefree, he didn’t mind and at the end his head attached once again.
Same event happens with Mikaela, even when Yu stabbed him once they encountered for the first time after few years, he was able to withstand the injury he received, of course, him being a young vampire, the damage did affect a little and that was due to the fact he wasn’t a full vampire.
To conclude, we can say that as a vampire, Ferid hasn’t faced up limitations; the way his mindset works ends up giving him the advantage of using his vampirism to all the extend he wishes to; which is as of why, in the latest chapter, despite being cut twice, he manages to give Crowley the Sinful Key.
Despite this, perhaps the same Ferid might have been able to give certain knowledge to higher progenitors so they can see that limits for vampires don’t exist.
What do you think? Do you think that at the end the other Progenitors will change their mindset to their boundaries or not?
Let me know!!!
