Functionally, I agree that Hollanov don’t need to have children to enjoy a full life and like yes delete the heteronormative expectations in your head AND YET all over the world it is still difficult for queer people to have children and have parental rights, so I don’t actually think it’s conformist from every point of view (definitely from some! I get all the points of view!) but also I enjoy theorizing about their theoretical kids and the type of parents they would he because it’s just another facet of character analysis, especially for characters that have expressed the desire to have a family together. Doesn’t mean they will! Doesn’t mean they should! But their choices in this realm have a lot of potential. And even the choice to remain childless is an interesting one, something they might grieve or something that says something about who they grow into as people.
All this to pose an open-ended question:
What is your stance on Hollanov having kids, the type of parents they would be, how they would juggle parenting with their lives, and/or their decision to NOT have kids and how that affects them? Just a place to share your thoughts because I think as characters who textually (book canon) think and talk about having a family, it’s interesting to think about where all those thoughts might actually lead.
