You are a university student studying to become a Pokemon professor. You decided your thesis project is to go to a rather young region that doesn’t have a complete Pokedex or a registered professor, because of this, it does not have a regulation Pokemon league. However, the people there are just as fond of Pokemon battles as anywhere else. Your mission is to study the Pokemon of this region and take on their gym challenges.

Instead of a Pokedex, you have your handy Rotom-tab which allows you to write notes on new pokemon you find.

This brings us to the starters of this region, Foaliedge, Squebrun, and Sluggune. While their first and second forms are named and well known, their final forms are elusive and rarely seen in the wild. They are an evenly matched triad of water/fire/grass so you think they would make good starting Pokemon for new trainers. However, You need to train them before you make any firm conclusions.

You will be able to choose one to be your partner for your journey, while the other two will go to your classmates, Vince Fir, a history major, and Neveah Holly, a battle major, who are also working on their theses with you. The three of you will make your way through the region, discovering Pokemon, people, and history alike.

You may even find a legend. Good luck, professor.

This game is a hypothetical at this point, something I’m doing for fun tbh as Idk how to make a game, I just write funny little stories and draw. If I were going to make this a game, You would get to pick a last name as well as a first name because I hc that professors legally change their names to tree names when they get into grad school. You’d be mid to late 20′s in this game, originally, I was going to leave the starter’s species names up to a poll but I think it would be more fun if in the hypothetical game, you got to name the starter you choose by yourself, the other two’s names would be decided by rng by the preset names you can pick (obviously so you can’t name the species assclown duh). However, later, when I post the current designs for the stater lines (need to finish Squebrun’s), I’ll give you my ideas and be open to suggestions under THAT starter’s post.

Untitled Prologue to a fantasy I may one day finish (maybe, possibly)

Gentle starlight glints above. A serene flicker, stretching out beyond what the eyes can see in the darkness. Fading into obscurity. Echoes of footsteps and faint whispers bounce between the constellations. The glow of passing torchlight unmasks the stars as only polished stones roosting in rock. The illusion dispelled. Water drips down in the cave, and a musty smell permeates the air. A huddle of boots and cloaks tread through. Their lantern light drifting forwards, leading them with purpose into a passageway.

Something watches them from a distance. A large figure slips through the shadows, the heavy footfalls landing silent in the dirt. Colossal claws, and paws, and feathers, and teeth, prowl behind the travellers in curiosity. Visitors. It thinks to itself. For a moment spectacled eyes look back over their shoulder. Peering at the unknown movement in the tunnels. Squinting. Missing the beast completely. Its form disappearing down side openings. Traipsing on a long since memorised path of this underground labyrinth. Leaving nary a footprint behind. Never mind. Must be nothing. Onward they go to their destination, a solemn silence shared between them. A sprawling parchment of an ancient map guiding their way.

The tunnel twists and their feet leave stone terrain for stairs. They descend further into the earth. Hours they go on, spiralling down, deeper still. Enduring their blisters and exhaustion, not breaking their stride. They have a purpose. They hold onto it and hope. The light they carry fades with every step they take, until they only hold embers. Until they are trudging in the dark. Until worn leather shoes meet marble. Their heels click on a polished surface. That same beast observes from the other side of the cavern, lying in wait. One by one braziers on the wall spark to life with flame, lighting up grand pillars and stonework in pure white. The beast yawns from its perch. Piercing orange eyes gauging the group before it. A claw motions for them to approach. Beckoning. Compelling them.

The mouth of the tunnel opened wide into the grand hall, the travellers stand small at the entrance. Their battle-hardened faces determined. They stride forwards.

‘Who are you adventurers?’ a booming voice addresses them. ‘What brings you to this place?’ The beast’s mouth doesn’t move, but the words find the way into their heads. A voice of power, and authority stirring the pool of their thoughts. Yet the reply they offer is silence. The form of the beast skulks down from its perch, eyes intense, nearing the group it growls under its breath. The travellers share looks between one another, nodding affirmations. They part and one of them steps forth, clad in heavy plate. Delicately they place a lifeless form at the feet of the regal beast. Standing back they all stare down together at the motionless body. Lingering in the moment.

‘We heard you speak with the gods.’ Eyes don’t drift from the ground. The beast chuckles to itself.

‘I know you,’ it says. ‘The stories are written in your scars, and whispered by the weapons you carry. That weight you bear. How heavy it must be.’ A tail flicks in a tentative excitement. Its smooth voice almost like a purr now. ‘How I do love a heroic tale.’ Talons reach beneath feathers and fur, pulling out an orb of clear crystal. The iridescent glow of it making spectrums dance on the stonework and in the monster’s irises. A quiet hum emanates from it, distracting the creature in its colours.

A man among the travellers shuffles in the silence. Tall and slender beneath his dark hood.

‘Do you speak to the gods or not?’ An impatient gripe. The gaze darts away from the artefact. Intense amber meets green. The shades of forest and fire stare each other down. Another low snicker.

‘What do you wish of the gods, mortal?’ Its’ gaze gleans over the corpse for a moment. ‘What makes you worthy of their time?’ The man snorts.

‘What makes them worthy to judge us? What makes them worthy to treat us like fodder in their games? In their petty squabbles?’ Fists clench, rage threatening to spill over towards the hulking being. A sizzle of energy bounces between knuckles and rings. A strong hand reaches up from behind him, resting on his shoulder, leaching out the gathering tension. Hushed words in his ear smooth out creases in his frenzied thoughts.

‘We’re owed a debt.’ Another much softer voice from the band. Almost a whisper. A woman hidden beneath a wide brimmed hat. The beast leans into her personal space, bringing its paw up towards her cheek. Its warm breath dancing in front of her face.

‘Now that’s a story I have to hear.’ The woman shies away from the touch, sliding behind the green-eyed man. He tuts at the entity.

‘I thought you knew it all? In our swords and scars and all that, no?’ He goes to step forward but the strong hand yanks him back by the robe.

‘They tell tales, yes. But a story can be false, no?’ It points to the group, one by one. ‘That one’s blade exaggerates, that one’s neck skims over details, the bow is too poetic, the burns forget what part they’re telling, the shield talks too fast, and the daggers don’t say anything at all.’ It brings its hands together in contemplation. ‘There’s so much more I’m missing,’ it sighs.

‘Well we’ll be sure to tell you, right from the start.’ He pulls out a leather bound notebook. Obscured words gilded on the front cover of it. The monster’s ears perk up. ‘For a price.’ The two hold a steady gaze. A pin could drop and it would echo through the hall. Neither of them wavering; both of them too stubborn. After this lengthy pause he gives a shrug and begins to stow the book away. But curiosity must be sated.

‘Name it.’

‘A soul.’

I never finished my thought a couple weeks ago. The reason I asked if it was ok for hospitals/groups to lean towards hiring more female ob/gyns is this. I think it's totally ok to have a preference.  I don't know of any females who flat out refuse to see a female but there are many who won't see a man. That's fine. Do what is comfortable for your vagina.

I posed the question that way because we needed to hire a new trainer. There are gyms here which are "ladies only" and have an all female staff. That's fine, it makes women more comfortable. What I don't understand is females who refuse to work with female trainers... I think it's "fair" that women should be able to choose the gender of their ob/gyn, same goes for anything else including trainers. But I don't understand females not wanting female trainers. This has been a common theme in all of the gyms I've worked at. No, it's not every woman nor do it think it's the view of the majority. Maybe I just work in a werid alternate reality. But it's definitely werid when I'm interviewing and letting prospects work the floor for there to be female clients asking me not to hire a female. Thoughts.?
