Open When letters…
When my best friend moved across the world to the States, I wanted to be by her side through this journey in some form. So I wrote a bunch of letters to keep her company through the highs and lows of living away from home, abroad for the coming years.
Had so much fun putting this together, packing mini gifts in and adding to the vintage touch with Polaroid photos! She loves it!
Handmade yellow theme birthday gift for my moms 50th birthday 🌻
18th March 2020
My mother’s birthday 🎁 Because of the current situation we couldn’t go out to a nice restaurant so we just stayed home and had a resting day together. This year I couldn’t buy flowers but mom still teared up which touched my heart. I am glad she loved the silver and gold bracelet I gifted her with this letter. I will work hard and make you proud mom. I love you. And thank you for everything.
Hey! Wanted to ask about some ideas that what we could write inside open when letters for best friend?
Hey, there! It’s always a fantastic idea to make a handful of these for a friend. Though I’m not sure what the occasion is, my advice for beginning a project like this is to start small and then keep building. Pick six to ten topics that mean a lot to you both for your letters. In my opinion, these things should be more about quality than quantity, you know? Plus, if you finish the ones you planned for before any potential deadline, you can add some more on one by one. I had more advice for starting here.
Like I said, it’s best for you to personalize these topics and letters for the friend you have in mind. However, if I were to pick out a couple for you to tinker with simply because they’re tons of fun and can apply to practically all relationships, they would be the following…
Open When…
You miss me: Again, this must be personally tailored to the kind of relationship you have built with your friend. You can write out a huge bucket list of things you want to do together. Ensure them that you miss them too and share how excited are to be with them again!
You want to stroll down memory lane: This is one of my favorites because it’s really sweet and simple to print out tons of pictures of you two together and write little messages on the back. You can also include any little mementos you have gathered throughout your friendship. This could be movie stubs, tickets from concerts or sporting events, notes passed back and forth, or essentially anything else.
You need love: Honestly, this is the greatest opportunity to write out a huge list of reasons why you love your friend. This is your chance to build them up and essentially kiss the ground they walk upon. You could print off some of their selfies and write what a huge fan you are of their entire essence. You could find a Valentine’s card with cute, tacky poems written inside. I found some compliment cards that fit very nicely with this topic as well. If it’s not the time for Valentine’s cards, there is a plethora available online at Etsy. I suggest looking there for more ideas!
Best of luck to you!
Me, when making Open When letters for one of my best friends: Okay, 25 done, 5 to go!
Me: Aaannnd the last 3! Then it’ll be done! For real this time! Also me: *adds 12 more the next day*
Letters to you
Dear D. Here we go again. Testing my limits Part II. But in a different way.
Falling in love is not rational. It is madness. A beautiful, wonderful moment of magnificent insanity. Your sharp edges, somehow only made you softer in a way that I could never understand…not entirely. Your broken heart only beat louder in the silence and it would be easier, to not love you if I didn’t know how bright your smile could be, if I didn’t know that your touch could be gentle… it would be easier, to not want to save you if I didn’t know how reassuring your words were, if I didn’t know that you’d sacrifice yourself so I could live. One thing is for sure… It wouldn’t it make it easier for me, not to love you if you weren’t all those missing pieces that my soul was longing for. I touch you and it is like war. The burning sensation in my bones overpowered my mind and my heart pounded like the drums that were calling soldiers to join, willingly, the bloodbath. It felt violent and visceral and I sensed some part of me is already latching onto to your skin - a mark left on me for the stars to find when they would uncover our epic, poetic… mad story. Your smiled at me and the stars became surpassed in what could bring me light. It was all teeth but there is a hint of joy in the way your mouth moved around me. The sun’s blaze turned to ash and I felt warm and wanted. I was living in the darkness until your grin found mine and from that moment, everything in me is created by your echoes. Your voice became my compass, my true north it’s the one I could pick out in the middle of the crowd, in the middle of the battle because it was the map that leads me home. The sound of my name coming off your lips is my anchor and without your voice, I would drown, down to the bottom of the endless ocean, and perhaps I deserved it but I am selfish and cannot lose you too. Your eyes are dark enough to fall in. Your eyes held the torment you have been through and I wished from the very start that I could heal his scars but I knew that I could only try to take away some of the ache. Your eyes can make the deities of the ancient world throw themselves into the pit to prevent any more loss. Your eyes found mine and the colors of the universe seemed brighter, seemed softer, seemed more beautiful, seemed not enough to describe the flames that consumed us. I loved you since then. That was what the pounding of my heart was singing. I loved you from this universe to the next one and the constellations would yearn to chart our story and the history books would place our names side by side and it will never be enough, because we love each other and even after death, we will find our way back to each other’s galaxies. It was all so brutally fake and honest at the same time. I think I have written this before, in the other letter, the one I gave you in your birthday. That alone can show many great things. I can not find enough words for this. But most importantly, I will never stop loving you. My love can only grow and blossom. I am sorry if this is overwhelming, my sun. But not really. I always favored the night. A little envious of the stars and the distant planets, of the entire universes that are out there, of the galaxies still unknown to mankind. They are looking down upon all people but they are not here, already preoccupied with their existence and their need to evolve. I was used to spilling pieces of myself here and there, in between all those meaningless conversations and meaningful silences; hoping that people will notice at some point and piece it together. The sad truth is that nobody cares enough to simply do that because they just want to be understood not to understand others. How could anyone see me for who I was when I had been scattered all around in everything neglected, when I was so good at hiding and being invisible? And then you came along. The room felt so small to contain our glances, your intense eyes piercing me and mine… trying to deny the connection I felt. I could only see your eyes, they were almost black like poison and alluring like thunderstorms, not your usual honey – more like delibal.
Somewhere between the twilight and the dawn, I realized that I had always craved a love that wasn’t holding me prisoner but rather a love that whispered to me gently and tenderly like the soft breeze. Somewhere between the sun and the moon, I think you knew that you wanted to be the one I talked to until the hues of the night mixed with ochres of the dawn. Dare I say that my eyes held the most tremendous truth and my lips could bring galaxies to life? And then the raindrops danced like fairies as they promised to keep our love a secret so the Gods would not envy us. How much do I love you, I can not say simply because I do not know how infinite the universe is. But as I have already promised you, even in the House of Hades, I will find you – even if memories are taken from us when we die, they can not steal you from me. You live in my veins. You exist inside me, in a way that no one can take away. Yes, you are immortal in me. How can I forget?
Yours, always.
