If the original voice cast hadn't been used since Advent Children, the voice acting change would be understandable but they used the voice actors in Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, plus 11 other titles AND Dissidia NT which was released in 2018. They even recorded the Remake with them and then scrapped it! Why promote Steve Burton and Beau Billingslea in the 2015 trailer if they were going to change them?
Operation Reunion
Hello there!
Since the revealing of FF7REMAKE after a long hiatus of no news with the State of Play my love for Final Fantasy 7 Remake has evolved into something more akin to disappointment. It was amazing to see this renowned classic come to life with the beautiful graphics, gameplay, and music. But the thing that really broke the immersion for me was the voices being totally different. I'll admit the new voice for Cloud is amazing but the rest of the cast just leaves me wanting the Advent Children voice actors. The new voice for Sephiroth leaves absolutely no impression as George Newbern's did when he said in Advent Children, "Good to see you....Cloud." It was also sad to see that the entire cast has been removed! Which means Reno, Rude, Vincent, and the rest that appeared in Advent Children are gone. These voices became my immersion and without them it makes it hard for me to fully commit to the Remake.
It’s time. It’s real. And they are fighting for our voice actors. Operation Reunion is a go. They have mobilized! Find them on twitter and join the fight!

Forgive me for not fighting for you enough during those 14 years. I’m sorry I was not there to stop them from casting you aside like tarnished, broken jewelry. I regret not shouting your name louder and letting Square Enix know how important you are to me, to us, to this community. Is this my punishment for my silence? Was my dedication not enough? I am now left with this empty, lifeless character which is naught but a stranger to me – there is no warmth, no feelings – just vacancy. Was my admiration not enough to keep you from being plucked from my tightened grip, or was it not tight enough and you fell from my clutched fist. I pray that I might catch you before you fall into the forgotten abyss and I pray that I find the convincing rhetoric to keep you from all of this. No matter the outcome waiting at the end - just know I gave it my all and to that I will defend.

Support is growing every day to have George Newbern reprise his role as Sephiroth in the Final Fantasy VII Remake either by the preferred March 3, 2020 release date or by DLC. He is the voice of Sephiroth and has shaped the villain into what the character is today and the game just won’t be the same without him. With the news spreading around about the unsettling removal of the English VA cast of Final Fantasy VII franchise, the voice actors are showing support for Operation Reunion’s movement to return them to the FFVIIR either by casting decisions to reprise their roles by the release date or by Legacy Voice Actors DLC. Japan is keeping their voice actor’s for the priority position in the game yet our original voice actors are now being brushed aside and only used on the smaller side-projects. They want to come back. Let’s get them back!
