Man, I genuinely feel so horrible for Pyro I am probably not the first one to say this, but to be frank there is actually so much to say The main thing I think is very interesting is how Pyro actually got forced into being a vampire and yet every single time he mentions this (particularly to Scott) Scott influences his opinion and Pyro starts to blames himself for being turned It really does feel kind of tragic. Before the townsfolk even really considered vampires to be real he was, unknowingly, lead by both vampires into the woods. Like a lamb to the slaughter.
And we can see that he did NOT want to be turned. He ran away and even tried to punch Scott to get him to back off. But in the end it didn't matter. Surprisingly he seemingly adapted to vampirism very quickly. At least everyone thinks that, since he does his best to try and impress Scott and Owen. But tbf, it really does seem like he was simply trying to fawn and avoid any conflict with the older vampires. He just got kicked out of his family, but by trying to appeal to the vampires he turned the townsfolk against him. The townsfolk feel like he has gone too far. They already consider him to be lost to the vampiric lifestyle. Yet, they still consider Scott to not have harmed anyone, which couldn't be further from the truth.
Pyro - even when he is trying to scare the townsfolk - has always been more human than Scott. Scott is simply better at hiding his true nature. Later on, once he feels more comfortable around them, he brings up the topic of feeling like he got turned against his will, and Scott - like the gaslighter he lowkey is - just continues like it was Pyro's idea / fault or like Pyro should not complain since he got these amazing powers.
And we can see it work again and again. Pyro even says "I guess I did run", as if that isn't a completely human, rational thing to do. And the only thing he could do in that situation.
Scott even calls it "natural selection", since Pyro went outside at night with two strangers and tries to frame it as good deal, since he could have easily just have been a killer. But since - instead - Scott turned Pyro into a vampire, Pyro now gets to enjoy these amazing powers. So he really shouldn't complain! Scott even tries to frame it like it HAD to happen. After all he had just woken up from a long slumber. So he HAD to drink someone's blood and turn them into a vampire! Since he was feeling extremely thirsty. And in turn it was Pyro's fault for going with him.
Pyro was put in an impossible situation and tries his best to once again gain a secure life with community. But sadly the person he cares about impressing the most, hardly seems to care about his emotions and actions, unless he directly profits from them.
Pyro went from helpless victim, to a perpetuator eager to feel powerful and fit in. Encouraged by Scott and Owen to leave his humanity behind and now he realized that maybe, just maybe, that's not what he wants.
Or at the very least he wants his choice back.
