thinking about Bucky being on dating apps again (canon, TFATWS) and sad over it

because on one hand, this man was a ladies man, an absolute flirt. him in the 40s was, say it with me now, a:

and a romantic too, i mean spending three dollars (IN THE GREAT DEPRESSION) just to win a stuffed animal for a girl he liked? an absolute cutie

but finding someone he can connect with, who he has anything in common with him and that could understand him, that’s nearly impossible. and he must have known that, so that would mean he probably was on the app just to find hooks ups. right?

(which by itself is mildly funny bc can you imagine him, used to a time where people courted each other, getting a booty call??)

but anyway, then there’s also the fact this man has insane intimacy issues from being used by hydra in ALL ways. so sex without an emotional connection is hard for him, but he can’t find anyone to have that connection with which means he’s at a dead end

and he’s a smart man, he knows all this. he knew he couldn’t find a partner or a booty call through fucking tinder. WHICH MEANS, poor bucky was so so lonely, even tho he knew it would lead nowhere, he got the app just for the sake of entertaining the idea he could possibly find someone, just to feel a little more normal, less alone.

Fix it (?) Infinity War/End Game idea.

So what if, when Thanos snapped the first time, instead of 50% of the population being dusted, ceasing to exist entirely, they were simply split into a different timeline?

So you have this alternative reality after where everyone who was dusted survived, but everyone who survived was dusted.

Dr Strange takes Peter Parker home to Aunt May, Peter Quill and Drax make their way back to earth to find Groot. King T'Challa and Princes Shuri head the movement to help stabilise the world in the face of such a crisis. Fury gathers what resources he has left and takes the opportunity to strike and eliminate Hydra once and for all. Bucky and Sam do what they can to help him. Loki sets up New Asgard and secretly hopes that Thor would be proud.

There's no Pepper or Happy in this timeline anymore. Tony isn't there to invent time travel. Scot Lang got lost in the Quantum Realm. Rhodey disappeared in the dust too along with Steve, Nat and Wanda. Clint's family are still safe on the farm, Laura waiting for him to come home. Gamora and Thor never return to Earth.

Both timelines have to deal with the economical fallout of the Snap and have to rebuild society. Both sides have to grieve for their friends and family they have lost.

And then when the original timeline managed to fix the snap, both timelines merge back together so rather than the chaos of the blip, we now have a united world where all the systems have been demolished and rebuilt and society is still broken, still in pain, but a little kinder and very grateful to be reunited once more.
