something that is sad to me is that i can't properly enjoy kriselle because of the weird route

because kris i think has a crush on at least noelle if not both noelle and susie and as much as i do spread polycule propoganda i feel like kris & noelle work better as friends and i do find that a little tragic

tbh i just want kris to be happy and if that means literally watching cutscenes for 10 hours instead of being inside their body i will happily oblige

i do think people hating on berdly is entirely deserved BUT. BUT. hear me out here

as someone who actually really likes berdly (i do think i need to punt him and throw him a locker like the rest of you don't worry) his character is actually really well written in my opinion

the main reason i say that is his narcissistic tendencies & the scene between him and noelle towards the end of chapter 2 (full explanation under page break)

berdly—obviously—has narcissistic tendencies. he does NOT have a superiority complex, which is a genuine belief that the things one does is better than others. what he does is actively try to prove himself to others; he knows that he isn't actually better than anyone else.

i'm gonna put a pin in that idea for a bit while i talk about the other thing i think makes his character interesting:

while this does read as berdly simply assuming noelle has a crush on him for no reason and is kind of played off as a gag, this is actually kind of tragic to me.

berdly was neglected and forgotten, so the idea that someone would want to help him/be friends him with no ulterior motives is foreign to him. this is MY interpretation of him, and i get why people still hate him!

but... i can't help but feel bad for him. noelle even says "you're always nice when its just the 2 of us", which i think kind of shows how berdly isn't just a pompous ass, he feels like he has to be to get any attention at all. if he isn't constantly proving himself to everyone around him, he feels entirely inferior and worthless.

AND THIS ISN'T EVEN MENTIONING THE SNOWGRAVE ROUTE UGGDHDHKSO

i could yap about him forever. yes he's annoying but i need people to understand he is more than that
