I was in Chicago over the weekend while someone shot up the Oregon District in Dayton. Thank God that I was lucky enough to not be out there with friends like I was 2 weeks ago. It’s fucked up how our society is okay with a baseline risk of lethal gun violence that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the developed world. You just know that future historians will look at the United States’ gun violence epidemic and put it up there with the most disturbing shit to occur across all of history’s empires. Like yeah some civilizations had ritual sacrifices and what not, but no other society has sacrificed so many lives in exchange for the legal sale of assault weapons, and for what?
