You want Star Trek dreams? When I was a little baby Trekkie of 8-ish, I had a really vivid dream involving a holodeck program of a sailing ship, and Geordi had to give his visor to someone temporarily so she could save the ship. This dream was so clear I painted the pivotal scene (Geordi handing over his visor) in art class. Doing the yellow grid of the holodeck was much harder than I thought.

This is a sign of a true trekkie childhood.

Aha! I’ve not read many of the Voyager novels but I’m happy to know they also consider and address these things. Now I want to know how long and/or how many washes a Starfleet uniform is expected to last.

for lovefest: I've taken the first steps toward changing my major from biology to psychology, which is a subject I never thought I'd like as much as I do. I'm also getting back into sewing, which is the only artistic-type thing I'm really good at, after a long hiatus.

That is so awesome of you! It’s amazing when you realize that something you didn’t think would ping you becomes something really fantastic, isn’t it? And yayyyy psychology! My mom got one of them fancy psychologist degrees and let me tell you I didn’t get away with SHIT when I was a kid. Despite that, it’s an awesome field and you’re going to absolutely rule.

And I am so glad to hear you’re picking sewing back up - and I admire that hugely. Sewing is a HUGELY challenging art form and craft; I’ve watched family members and friends create beautiful clothes or quilts or any manner of other things and I’ve always been amazed at how creative you have to be. So keep it up! I’m so happy for you, and proud that you’re coming back to something you love!
