Moved the Oryzias profundicola into a heavily decorated 4’ tank today - they just weren’t thriving in the QT. Have tried to notch together something vaguely resembling their natural habitat, a gentle slope of Lake Towuti. Needs some work before it looks reasonable. Hoping they’ll be much more comfortable now, at least!

These guys are arriving tomorrow! Oryzias profundicola, The Yellow-Finned Ricefish, and Chrosomus erythrogaster, the Southern Red-Belly Dace. Super excited!!

I don’t know what all these algae species are (other than the GHA), but I LOVE the carpets they’ve formed on the wall and floor of the orange medaka tank!

Oryzias profundicola update

Was checking on the adults yesterday and spotted a tiny group of fry in the corner! Am interested to see whether or not predation by the adults will occur in a well-decorated large tank...

Might rescue the fry before then, though :p
