Drawing U.S. native fish as practice and researching them as well

This is a Yellow Perch!! They’re a freshwater inland fish with 6-9 black stripes along their sides, and they’re obv yellow-gold-greenish yellow! They have a forked back tail and they’re about 6-12 inches or 15-30 centimeters long!

The rainbow Shiners have been spawning! The camera’s struggling to pick up he colours properly - so bright!

Alabama hillstream biotope after a water change and a big feed. Still working on getting the food balance right for the darters.

Obviously, nothing biotope-accurate about the Opsarius being in there, but they were being outcompeted with the Barils/Barbs, so have been recovering with the shiners. Will need to move them soon, though, cos theyre now outcompeting the darters.

The Chrosomus erythrogaster have moved in with the Shiners and are settling really well. Just beginning to see hints of colour on the fins! Can’t wait til they go red/yellow.

These guys are arriving tomorrow! Oryzias profundicola, The Yellow-Finned Ricefish, and Chrosomus erythrogaster, the Southern Red-Belly Dace. Super excited!!

Moved the hardscape around after their water change and tried to alter the direction of flow, but it’s almost impossible to create riverine conditions without a manifold. Maybe a project for later? It’s a lot to faff about with atm.
