I think one of my favorite things about the Renegades series is all the just….. awful flirting. And by awful, I mean some of the best, most awkward flirting I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

Like, I think it’s safe to say Oscar and Ruby really encompass this. I mean, Oscar asks basically everyone else how to make his flirting obvious because apparently bonding over food or fighting over video games wasn’t obvious enough. BUT, Adrian and Nova??? They are so much worse at it.

What makes them worse is that they both KNOW the other is flirting, and still somehow manage to go “mmmmmh, I’m sure I’m reading too much into this”. This is what I need, I need more obvious pining and flirting and leads who just cannot fathom the idea of a hot person flirting with them.

The best part about all of this is it made the actual romantic moments really POP. It created juxtaposition that really rounded out everyone involved and made them feel like people and not characters that were getting forced together.

so i am just realizing now how different nova and adrians original approaches to prodigies abilities were. like nova was pretty much one of the only prodigies who could fight without relying on her powers, like in the trials when she managed to beat gargoyle with only a mini canon, and we know that she thought the world would be better without powers. and then we have adrian, who started giving himself extra powers and truly believed that this would help people. idk just a random thought

As much as I wanna see the next Renegade book/series focus on Maggie and Mac and take place in the future, I also want to see directly after Supernova. Like, let me see the trial with Nova and if she faces backlash from her team and the renegades. Let me see her slowly regain their trust and watch them become family again. Watch her and Adrian heal their relationship and her figure out her life. I want to see her go to therapy for her entire life’s worth of trauma. Let me read this, instead of characters 6-10 years in the future when they’re all adults.
