I think one of my favorite things about the Renegades series is all the just….. awful flirting. And by awful, I mean some of the best, most awkward flirting I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
Like, I think it’s safe to say Oscar and Ruby really encompass this. I mean, Oscar asks basically everyone else how to make his flirting obvious because apparently bonding over food or fighting over video games wasn’t obvious enough. BUT, Adrian and Nova??? They are so much worse at it.
What makes them worse is that they both KNOW the other is flirting, and still somehow manage to go “mmmmmh, I’m sure I’m reading too much into this”. This is what I need, I need more obvious pining and flirting and leads who just cannot fathom the idea of a hot person flirting with them.
The best part about all of this is it made the actual romantic moments really POP. It created juxtaposition that really rounded out everyone involved and made them feel like people and not characters that were getting forced together.
