@otterlydeerlightful your transwoman Pixel idea was too good to pass up:
For Pixel’s 18th birthday, her dads had gifted her with the attached garage as a work space for the many projects taking over her bedroom. Now, barely a year later, one side of the garage was full of inventions. Some were visibly broken, some had patch notes stacked beside them, but more and more were being completed to Pixel’s ever evolving standards.
Currently, Pixel was bent over her computer. Lines of data flashed on the screen. Her fingers taping across the keys were a blur. Her tongue peaked out from her lips in concentration.
Such was her focus that she didn’t hear Stephanie’s polite knock. Or her harder knock. Or her shouting. In fact it wasn’t until Stephanie threw open the door and leaned against the back of her chair that Pixel noticed Stephanie had arrived.
“Steph!” Pixel spun in her chair, knocking Stephanie back slightly. Pixel sprung up and flung her arms around her girlfriend. “I’m glad you’re here! You can be see the first official test run! I’ve been up all night working on it and I think it’s ready. I feel like I’ve forgotten something though, do you think I’ve forgotten something? I calculated for-”
She was cut off by Stephanie pressing a light kiss to her lips. “Yeah, you did forget something. Happy birthday.”
Pixel blinked like the concept of birthdays had briefly left her mind. “It’s... oh!” She kissed Stephanie in return. “Thank you!”
Stephanie rolled her eyes even as she giggled. “What are we testing?”
“My outfit for the parade in Mayhem today!” The sweatshirt tired around Pixel’s waist swirled as she turned to present the stiff hoop skirt on the table connected to the computer by half a dozen wires. The skirt itself was the colors of the trans flag.
Careful not to disturb said wires, Stephanie inched closer. “It’s nice, but what are you doing to it?”
Pixel grinned. “You’ll see.” With that, she pulled on two wrist bands and crossed to the computer. She tapped at the keyboard before disconnection the wires one by one. Finally, she pulled on the skirt over her ripped jeans where it clashed with her Super Power Lizards tee. Stephanie realized that the skirt was stiff because there was a solid hoop at either end. Pixel tightened the one around her waist. “You know where the fire extinguisher is, right?”
“I hate when you ask me that.”
“Papa made me promise to observed safety precautions in here.”
“Yes, I know where it is.”
“Good!” And Pixel tapped a button on the skirt.
A holographic ring appeared around Pixel. In bright letters it read “I am not up for debate”. The wrist bands were glowing as well. With a laugh of triumph, Pixel twirled. “How do I look?!”
Stephanie gaped at the display. “That’s so cool! People are going to love that!”
“You think so?” Pixel looked down at herself, grinning broadly.
“Of course! It’s tech, it’s colorful, it’s proud-” Stephanie stepped forward into the ring to kiss Pixel’s cheek. “It’s you.”
Pixel blushed and smiled and seemed to glow in the light of the sign around them. She tapped the button again and the ring faded. “I think I’m ready for my first pride parade then.”
“I think you are too. Happy birthday.”
“You too. Wait, no- I was caught up in the- stop laughing!”

This is your chance! What do YOU want me to write next?

The April writing list has been posted...just sayin’ :P
Can’t afford continual patronage? Buy me a one-time ko-fi instead!
I can’t decide if this is a news announcement or some sort of informal poll; either way, allow me to ramble in your direction for a few moments.
I love creating stuff, and I love the community and friends I’ve found in the LT fandom and on AO3. It love writing, drawing, and making little worlds to live and play in. The only problem is the ever-present anxiety that taps me on the shoulder telling me that I should be spending my time more productively, AKA, doing something that helps me out financially. So, I started to meditate on how I could satisfy both halves at the same time.
I can’t decide if it would be something you would be interested in or not (remember when I mentioned that informal poll? Lemme know your thoughts!), but I have been seriously toying with the idea of creating a Patreon. Sure, it’s not like I would be racking in the money or anything, but with the financial situation I’m currently in, every little bit really helps. I was barely making ends meet as it was, and some big surprise bills decided to pop up and give me a (literal) panic attack for my trouble. Hence why I’ve finally decided to put out some feelers on the Patreon matter.
I’m still figuring out what sort of rewards I would offer. Sneak previews before chapters are uploaded, my spooer-pooper-secret list of project ideas, LT-related or otherwise; biweekly progress updates, concept sketches, original works, maybe free requests (rather than traditional commissions). I’ve wanted to do some YouTube stuff for ages now; maybe this would finally give me the push to do it, and I could offer early access to those as well. If there are things you would like to see, let me know!
Knowing that even a dollar or two are coming in each month would not only alleviate some of my you-need-to-be-productive guilt, but would also motivate me to write and create more in general. I’m just not sure what interest there might be at this stage, so please share any and all thoughts you might have, both good and bad. I really do want to hear them.
I’m not sure how to write any sort of “fancy” introduction, so I’ll just forego that and jump right into things.
I feel like I’m disappointing you. I know there’s only a small handful of folks out there who read what I post, but you mean the absolute world to me. I really do treasure every comment I get, even the ones that are just keyboard-smacking screams…because it means you felt something. Because of what I wrote. I love the feeling of creating something, but I absolutely thrive on the notion that, because of that something I created, someone else felt something. When I say things like “your comments give me life” I may be exaggerating, yes, but the fulfillment and validation and encouragement I feel every time someone leaves a comment on my work really does mean the world to me. That’s why I try to reply with something on every comment thread that’s started on my works—even if it’s a small comment, or something silly, it’s my way of saying Thank you for reading this and thank you so much for letting me know you liked it.
But, I digress. At least a little.
I feel like it sounds like a poor excuse really, but 2018 has been a never-ending parade of illness for me so far. Today is the first day in a while I’ve felt ‘well’ thanks to my latest headache (in this case, literally, since an infected gland decided to cause some painful swelling and give me a nasty scare as a result). Believe it or not, I started writing Saint Valentine’s Shenanigans back in early January because I was determined not to have a time crunch like the last two holiday fics. Considering we’re now heading into March and it’s not finished, I think you can tell how well that endeavor turned out.
And I want to apologize for it. Not only am I incredibly late, but my constant state of mind of “I need to get this done ASAP. Oh God it’s so overdue. I need to work on it NOW!” has made the entire thing into an unhappy slog of work in spite of kind of liking the silly story I outlined. I just keep thinking of the few people who actually want to read the end of it and how late it is and…ugh, in short, I’ve been stressing myself out about it something awful.
Not to mention the fact that I’m having some nasty computer problems lately (I actually had to hard reset while writing this due to the dang thing freezing, and it lost the entire document…lovely reminder of how I need a not-8-years-old machine, let me tell you lol) and I have too many other projects I would like to work on. I have a bunch of ideas floating around, but I feel like I can’t (shouldn’t?) work on them while Valentine’s is unfinished, so when I want to write I don’t seem to do anything.
I know this is a lot of rambling. And a lot of whining. And I apologize for that, too. I guess I want to be clear about where I’m coming from. Saint Valentine’s Shenanigans will be completed. I’m just not sure when right now. I think I needed to write this to shake some of that pressure and stress from my shoulders so I could work on things—this or other projects—more freely without worrying about you guys so badly in the process.
So, in short, I’m sorry for the delays. But, I promise I haven’t up and left you or writing. Fun stuff is coming. I just…need to catch up on life and de-stress a little first.
