BUT TODAY WE TALK ABOUT DIFFERENT SHIPS!!! AKA, (my maki harukawa ships)
Maki is in my top 5 drv3 characters so OF CORSE I have ships for her (and especially since I’m like the biggest multishipper in the world, as long as it’s legal and not like….incest I can probably get behind it. SO ITS TIME TO TALK ABOUT MY MAKI SHIPS BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS TO GIVE HER LOVE!!!! (Don’t kill me for my ships, also this isn’t in order of my favorite maki ships just my general top 5)
1. Kaimaki
Kaimaki is probably the most popular maki ship and I think it’s absolutely adorable!!!! Im only at the investigation for chapter one on my personal play through but I’ve seen so many other play the game, and I really like their development throughout the story, and it’s a GREAT ship regarding angst potential….HOWEVER!!!! It does seem a little rushed when Maki confesses to Kaito in chapter 5 and I think it would have been better being just implied, in fact LESS people probably would have shipped it if she didn’t do the last minute confession….besides….that confession should have gone to someone else….BUT WE CAN TALK ABOUT MY SHUICHI SHIPS LATER!!!!
2. Kaemaki
So similar to Kaimaki I’m I right? Nope! It’s Kaede and Maki!!! I believe in lesbian Kaede supremacy, and despite their only being one chapter in the game where they interacted, they were so cute when they did!!! I did maki’s first fte and even though maki was more closed off with Kaede, you can tell that she wants to open up to her, if only a little bit! This is one of the ships however that I do believe would work better in a non-despair au where they’re all students at hpa.

3. Saimaki
Saimaki is basically Maki choosing shuichi instead of kaito and while I wasn’t the biggest fan of it at first, I had to admit that in an au where the survivors were truly the only ones to survive, they are ADORABLE! I need them slowly getting better and falling in love while doing so, and just in general I believe that they’re good for each other, whether it’s romantic in a survivor only au or platonic in every other au! (I prefer them platonic but they earned a spot in my top 5 romantic maki ships)
4. Irumaki
DO THEY INTERACT MUCH IN THE GAME!? NO! But look, I can see them balancing each other out pretty fucking well in a non-despair au, and unlike the other ships mentioned (and the next one) I can only ever see this romantically for some reason, which is weird because with my headcanons for them, their pretty similar to each other, yet different at the same time….after this I’m gonna look for an irumaki fic and fanart cuz we need more of them.
Also….Maki x Miu x Kaede is fucking peak and I’m not taking disagreements!!!
5. Oumaki
There are people who would KILL ME OVER SHIPPING KOKICHI AND MAKI! But hear me tf out… enemies to lovers that don’t actually hate each other but think the other does so they go along with it. Kokichi does NOT hate Maki and I will stand by it, he hates her talent, not her, maki hates who Kokichi pretends to be, not him. Kokichi is supposed to be the “villain” of the story maki on the side of the heroes (training trio) they are SUPPOSED to hate each other, which in the killing game makes sense! But when we move to non-despair au, I can’t see them genuinely hating each other, although what’s enemies to lovers without a little hate? Hence my previous comment, maki hates who Kokichi pretends to be/his lies ur choice, and Kokichi hates her talent being the ultimate assassin. This could work even better for a post game au because despite the past hate in the game, Maki now knows what Kokichi’s true intentions were, ending the game, getting rid of some of or most of, the hate she had. This is, along with Saimaki, one of the ships I prefer platonicly, but works well enough romantically to get into my top 5 maki ships :)
