Down to modern times Korea has remained perfectly secluded. A rumor that #russia🇷🇺 was to establish a protectorate over Korea in 1888 was officially denied. The suzerainty of China 🇨🇳 had been acknowledged by Korea from early times, but Japan protested and this was one of the alleged causes of the Japanese-Chinese War of 1894. China renounced her claim in 1895 and Japan began to display an active interesting Korea. Russia 🇷🇺 thereupon asserted her right to a voice in Korean affairs and by 1904 the rival interests of the two powers resulted in the Russo-Japanese War and the occupation of Korea by Japan 🇯🇵. I’m 1910 Japan annexed the empire and renamed it Cho-Sen. In a bold attempt to stun the #britishpeople , to paralyze then with fear, and quickly eliminate the last remaining enemy from the war, the #germanluftwaffe concentrated its full strength on large-scale bombing raids on England. The effectiveness of the RAF defenses forced the Nazis to give up. #usstamps - Commemorative Series of 1943. #overrunnations #greece🇬🇷 8) France 🇫🇷 had relied on the defensive strength of her Maginot Line and its extensions and on the natural obstacles presented by rivers and forests, but the German panzer divisions crossed the forests and opened up a gap in the Maginot Line in a few days. From here the Germans rushed to the English Channel. The allied armies in France were split, those in the northern pocket, withdrawing to Dunkirk, were evacuated by the #britishnavy and small vessels of all kinds. After #dunkirk the Germans moved south and west into France. The Maginot Line was approached from the rear. #paris fell on June 14th. This move brought to light the effectiveness of German fifth column activities. Norwegian mobilization was paralyzed by the Danish and coastal launchings of the Hun. The British attempts to interrupt German movements were prevented by overwhelming air superiority, failing to break through to Trondheim the British started to withdraw on the 26th. The Danes submitted to Nazi rule without major resistance until August, 1942. On May 10, 1940, the Germans invaded Luxembourg 🇱🇺, the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and Belgium 🇧🇪.
