I think a lot of men don’t understand that other men tend to be the ones who oppress them. I don’t mean financially (Although this is somewhat also true) I mean emotionally and expressively. Part of toxic masculinity culture is to push those who decide to try to leave back into it.
I’m not saying men are the only ones who perpetuate toxic masculinity but they are the majority. Toxic masculinity is a community effort. I honestly think the best method is similar to one brought up for feminist issues: Men should call out other men when they try to push toxic masculinity. If someone says another man should cut their hair you should call them out. If someone says a man shouldn’t wear nail polish tell them you don’t want to talk to them anymore. If someone is upset that a man likes writing, singing, or any other art-form tell them to f*ck themselves.
