The splash-backed poison frog’s rare blue morph coloration was only discovered to science in 2012. They face global pressure from wildlife traffickers who attempt to profit from illegally obtained unique frogs.Splash-backed poison frogs are important to the health of the Amazon rainforest, modern medicine, and Brazil’s indigenous peoples.
Frogs are bioindicators that scientists use to measure the health of the environment on land and in water.
