We all have to agree acne has no gender. All skin needs care to thrive.   Male acne is typical caused by excess secretion of sebum (oil), due to an increase in hormones. Men acne tends to be either all over the face or all over the back and neck. It is also caused from a build-up of dead skin that traps the oil in the pores. This causes an imbalance of bacteria in the skin which leads to inflammation, known as acne. Here are a couple of scenarios concerning acne: If breakouts are mainly in the T zone area, it is likely because your skin is oily If there are pimple on the cheek, jawline and chin, it is likely hormonal   Look for products with salicylic acid and retinol. Sometimes “Less is More”. A simple skincare routine, is cleansing and exfoliating, which helps in healing and preventing more severe outbreaks.   Tip if you have a beard, try using a cleansing foam gel as a shaving gel. Do you wash your face every morning? I happen to know a lot of friends and family members that actually do not wash their face every single morning. They have different options as to why they choose not to. One simple and straight forward reason was simply “to lazy”. During the night we may have a built-up of sweat, dirt, and oil on our skin. Which can clogs pores and cause for breakouts. It can also give you the appearance of dull and tired skin.   What are your thoughts? We typically suggest washing your face at least once a day, twice at the most, unless you just finished an extreme workout. Over-washing your face can usually lead to irritated skin and the overproduction of oil. If you strip your skin of its natural oils, it will start producing more oils, which can lead to breakouts. When you are exposed to makeup, sweat, dirt, debris, and pollution, it is healthier to wash your face with water and a gentle cleanser. Also keep in mind the temperature of the water, use a lukewarm temperature. If your skin becomes to sensitive, go back and check your skincare routine. Never add more than one new product at a time.
