I've been looking into making an amputee werewolf (Werewolf the Apocalypse) character who loses his non-dominant arm in an explosion and I came across your posts. I know I'm just some stranger on the internet, but would you be okay with me asking you for advice on writing a character so he actually seems accurate and the ways it would impact him? If not, feel free to just ignore this, have a nice day :3
You can feel free to ask, but I'm not an amputee, so it'd be best to see if there's any blogs / posts out there written by amputees for amputee characters :)
Here's some links I found

Writing an arm amputee character by Carrie-Anne (warning: there's a picture of a spider as the blog header for anyone who's scared of them)
I assume you saw my posts talking about...I just forgot the name of the book series. But the one where the character's amputated leg is just treated as the equivalent of an embarassing birthmark, literally only coming up when it comes to wearing shorts or letting someone see his prosthetic, but then forgotten 99% of the rest of the story, including when he's running around doing parkour as a superhero.
So one very basic thing is not to write the missing limb like it's just an embarassing birthmark. Disabled characters are going to struggle with things other people don't think twice about, especially if it's a recent amputation and not one they've spent their whole life adapting to.
Hopefully someone with an amputation will see this that can point you to more sources :) But yeah, I can help with basic questions for disabled characters, just not super specific for amputations.
