A Reading For Mew || Alice & Margot & Garry (The Cat)
Mondays. Absolutely lovely days, they were. Well, at least to Alice. She could never quite figure out why everyone bemoaned the day, because to her, no matter how daunting the day's tasks were, there was something in it that gave life an extra little kick. Why, if it weren't for Tuesdays, Mondays would have been her very favorite day of the week! This Monday held something special in store-- oh yes-- she could feel it tingling in her bones as she arose that morning. Perhaps it was the nearing of the autumn equinox, or the upcoming harvest moon. Whatever it was, it had Alice bouncing off to work in giddy excitement for the challenges that lay ahead.
Her apprentice on the other hand was not quite as ecstatic about the day as she was. If it weren't for her voicing her disdain for it, Alice would have never known. With bleached brows, a typically stoic expression, and a dozen pounds of makeup, it was often a bit difficult to decipher what the younger woman was feeling. But what she lacked in facial expression, she more than made up for in artistic expression. Katee, like her make-up, was often overdone, dressed in bizarre garbs, iced in gaudy jewelry, and topped off with one of a kind, homemade hats.
Today she was dressed no differently, sporting a crop top of a deranged looking chihuahua, highwaisted rainbow shorts, heels that could murder a person, and a white saucer shaped hat, balance at an angle on her mane of hair. Alice felt severely underdressed, dressed in beige prairie dress she found off the rack at Goodwill years ago.
"Yo, Al, we're almost out of that flowery white middle class mom soap!" Katee called, from the ladder she was perched upon. It had taken several weeks to get used to the teen's piercing nasally voice; it hardly ever bothered Alice anymore. Hardly. She still occasionally cringed.
"The lavender and green tea soap? We'll just have to make some more." She hummed, navigating her way around the tall aisles to her apprentice. She handed the blonde a pair of amber bottles, grinning widely at the other woman. "Are you free on Saturday? We could do it then, make the soaps, and start prepping for the upcoming flu season. Maybe make some potions, and salves."
Katee peered down, one bleached brow quirking up at the suggestion. "You gonna give me a raise?" She drawled, plucking the bottles from Alice's grasp.
"Give you a raise? I thought you wanted to learn!" The brunette swatted at younger woman’s leg, giving her a pointed look. What was the point of being an apprentice if you weren't there to learn the trade?
"Uh, not if it's gonna cut into my social life." Katee sighed, shelving the bottles with the roll of ever eyes."FeFe would have my head if I missed her--" The door chime jingled; signally someone had entered their little store. "Awwwww."
Awww? What on Earth had her awing?
"I want it, it's so fat!" Alice turned bewildered at blonde. Did she just call someone fat? Oh, sweet goddesses help her. "Can I have it? I wanna sauté it with some diced onions. Ugh!" Katee climbed off the ladder, turning excitedly to face a very confused Alice. "The lady who just came in has a fat ass cat!"
Oh. Ooooh.
Alice craned her neck around the aisle, waving at the stranger. "Hello, don't mind my assistant. She just gets excited around cute animals."
"Fat animals. I get excited around fat animals. Like hell, I'm gonna care about some twiggy ass feline."
"Katee..." Alice warned, tugging at the blonde's arm to prevent her from zeroing in on the poor creature. She turned back to the new comer, smiling sweetly. "If you need anything, just let us know. We'd be happy to help you."
