The Amityville Horror is a book written by Jay Anson. It was based off of a supposedly true story of a family that moves into a house and finds it to be haunted. The Amityville house is a real house located in Long Island New York. In 1974, Ronald Defoe Jr shot and killed 6 members of his family, he was sentenced for the crime in 1975. The book centers around the Lutz family who moved into the house just over a month after the tragedy and it deals with their claims that the house was haunted.
