Give in to that easy living Goodbye to my hopes and dreams Stop flipping for my enemies We could wave until the walls come down
I was completely mind blown when psych rock faves Portugal. the Man teased a new remix by ZHU the other day. I never thought we’d be treated to a track that brought together Portugal. the Man’s funky swaggering rock and ZHU’s deep, dark house, but here we are, dancing to an atmospheric rumbling, muggy pumping remix of chart topping hit Feel It Still in pure ecstasy. Its curling bass and lavish synths even seem to bring us some sexy SOFI TUKKER vibes. We’ll be dancing all weekend long to this decadent track. The original is of course off of Portugal. the Man’s wicked new album WOODSTOCK, available, here. Download/purchase ZHU’s remix, here.

im a rebel just for kicks now
I’ve gushed aplenty over my love for Portugal. the Man’s psychedelic funk joyride Feel It Still, and I’ve given Lido’s remix of the track endless adulation as well. Today, we target our praise ats a new edit of the magnificent song by Dallas producer Medasin. His remix is nothing short of brilliant, too. Feel It Still goes twilight chill and dreamy surreal on this sublimely mellow future beats rendering. Medasin’s Feel It Still is more like “feel it forever”, and it’s out now on iTunes, here.
I’ve been bumping this one countless times a day since it first surfaced late last week. If this is your first encounter with this epic remix, you’ve been missing out! Portugal. the Man’s funky grooving, snappy shimmying Feel It Still is one of my favorite tracks of the year. Imagine my surprise when a remix surfaced crafted by none other than esteemed multi-instrumentalist and producer Lido? That’s right, Feel It Still has received a genius Lido treatment, and it’s incredible (and swag, SO swag)! Feel It Still goes finespun future bass on this texture intricate extravaganza, which is out now on iTunes, here.
I’m still kind of gutted that I had to miss my favorite American psych rock band, Portugal. the Man, when they played the intimate Independent in San Francisco earlier this year. The ticket for that show was a combo purchase with their Greek Theatre show in late July, too. I’ve yet to hear one of my favorite songs of the year, funky playful Feel It Still, live. Today, the band returns to their rock roots with a new single named So Young. It’s a steady thrumming, smoky cured charmer and proof that Portugal. the Man’s next album is going to be a diversified treat. Snarling riffs, brassy horns, and plenty of John Gourley’s slinky slick vocals bedeck the gem. We’ll get to hear Woodstock in full come June 16th. Pre-order, here.
The good news continues to roll in this week as my favorite American psych rock band (who’ve proven themselves to be expert troubadours in far more than just psych rock) release details regarding their next full length album. Woodstock will be Portugal. the Man’s eight studio album, and it drops on June 16th. The Alaskan outfit lead by John Gourley is already responsible for one of my favorite tracks of the year in the form of funky strutting Feel It Still. They now follow it up with a sleek new taster from Woodstock by giving us steady stomping, sooty spiraling Number One Number One featuring Richie Havens and ever talented Philly man, Son Little. The genre bending alt track is an instant grat download if you pre-order Woodstock (as I’m about to) from major outlets, here.
